This is the large boulder from the Hole of z in my Ocarina of Time 2D game...

The inspiration:

Boulder frames (4 frames 128x32 .png 1.56 KB)

Boulder animation (4 frames 32x32 .gif 1.01 KB)

Boulder shadow (1 frame 32x16 .gif 83 bytes)

The boulder shadow uses 25% transparency and is drawn before the boulder is drawn.
Quote from: ev_draw
{
   draw_sprite_ext(sprBoulderShadow, 0, (x + 3), (y + 22), 1, 1, 0, c_white, 0.75);
   draw_sprite(sprBoulder, -1, x, y);
}

In-game the boulders animation or image speed is 1/4 (room_speed=30).
Quote from: ev_create
{
   image_speed = 0.25;
}

the screen looks great... it's just that it ruins the element of surprise that the boulder has.
what would be hella awsome to fix this is to maybe have some fog over the square so that you can't see where the boulder is?

In game you will only see the 256x224 area around Link (look at the HUD)... there is still the element of surprise. The above picture was used to portray the boulder in action.

Everytime you come back we hear that we will play OOT2d soon. And shortly after that you dissapear for months. I can remember that you said a year or maybe it's already 2 years ago that we would get a demo soon. Well time fly's by and we still have nothing. Not even new screenshots. So I think that you could atleast show some new screens or a trailer. It's not for prooving that your OOT2d is real. Because I believe it's real, but just to see something new. And I understand that you're busy with the army and you've a family you've to take care for. Which both are more important then OOT2d. But since your OOT2d is completed it wouldn't be much trouble to take some new screenshots now would it?

Actually demo 4 was supposed to come out christmas '03.  But that's not what this topic is about, so please don't start up.

Only post here if you have questions/comments/criticisms on the sprite of the rock.

I see, although I can't understand why you don't want to show a new screen. Since it would only take 5 minutes or less to take the screenshot from your game and upload it and posting it here. While you take allot time to post graphics and tutorials... But I will just wait once again and hoping that soon is really soon and not months or years.

That looks like a screenshot to me...  Maybe I'm just hallucinating though.  Also, I agree with Limey...comment on the topic, not the past.

It's looking good, though it could benefit from a few more frames.  That's probably not necessary at all, however.  It gets the job done fine.

It is indeed a nice mock--Screen. Though the shelfs look a bit odd, don't know what, but the angle seems a bit off.

BTW, why does everyone get so excited about this project? Good project: Shadowgazer. It's original and exciting, and is obviously in steady development with lots of updates and stuff.

If TRM was a newbie nobody would be paying him any mind right now. In any event.. this looks alright. The shelves in the screen look pretty funny, especially against the quasi-realistic walls, and the dithered boulder looks pretty out-of-place as well. Still, it doesn't grate on the eyes or anything. It works.

Thats what I hate about "celebrities"; You can do exactly what they do, but since your name isn't TRM, you will never get as much attention. I'm not trying to be offensive or anything, but it is true.

Anyways, I think the wood tree walls should blend a bit more with the ground... Right now its little to sharp.
