This'd be fun, very reminiscent of ZFGC in late-Invisionfree days. I was thinking every year, we could have "member awards" with categories like best mod, best member, most polite member, funniest member, biggest jackass, best spriter (.TakaM'd win every year :P ), best coder, etc. Members would nominate people for maybe 5 days, then a poll'd run for a week, and the winners would get a nice banner saying "best whatever 2007" or something. Pointless, but could be fun. not really a serious or important suggestion, just a nice little idea. It could actually be member-organized.

Glad someone suggested it lets go for it.
Here are some catagories(they are from Camp Hyrule)we should change the names though.

  • Best speller
  • Most Agreeable
  • Coolest member
  • Most contributing member
  • Best mug shot
  • Best Misc. fangame
  • Best Zelda fangame
  • Best Coder
  • Best musician

Needs to be trimmed a lot, but, I think those would be pretty good categories.

Yeah, I basically just edited some of yours, cut some, and added some more ZFGC-relevant suggestions. Anyway, now we just need some more people to pounce on this idea! =D Whatever that means, really.

I like the idea... It would incentivate more some users to come here daily and probably post more in quality than quantity.

Well it would obviously be a vote. >:( It would be no less cruel to people then PotM, I mean and none of those would work though you're right. But read the bulleted list for a more serious list.

Ya know, this really isn't kind of thing ZFGC needs. This is just an excuse for people to show their favoritism to the obvious favorite members of ZFGC. ZFGC has its share of problems without things like this. >_>

Honestly, the criticism for this idea seems a little bit over the top. Obviously, the idea is just for fun, not to somehow make ZFGC a similar, friendlier place. Just some fun for members. As to biggest jackass/smartass, just a lighthearted suggestion. And Best member overall would be a bit unrealistic, however best mod would judge a moderator's abilities in conjucntion with their friendliness to members while, well, moderating.

Like I said, though, it could be done by anybody without breaking rules. Just thought i'd formally suggest it and see who likes the idea. if I were to post a topic for it, many members who oppose the idea now would've voted anyway.

Join us together? These are the sort of events that separate people even more.
Not at all. The whole thing is community-based. We pick who's the best, la la la. And it wouldn't split members up, either. The members here seem to be overall pretty calm about that kinda thing.
