Please forgive my excessive amount of started topics. XD As I've been working on music packs I started wondering (again) what formats I should export the songs as. Not only that, but I realize that some programs can read tags programmed into the files (I.E., loops). Last time I went ahead and exported the songs as both MP3 and OGG. This time, however, I decided I'd ask you for your thoughts on the matter.

1. What music format do you use in your projects?

2. Can your program read tags built into the file? If so, which? (Or link to documentation?)

I'd like to provide music that can be used by as many people as possible. I hope many see this and respond to this little survey.

Thanks for your time.

The only game I've been extensively working on is Relics of Nature's Fury, and I try to use OGG files for that. Keeps it compact, and RPG Maker can read 'em just fine.

But yeah, if you're going for maximum compatibility, I'd say do what you've been doing. Which would be releasing both MP3 and OGG.

It's like what OCR does with their albums, releasing in both MP3 and FLAC; you can choose which one you want more, but in the end it's about catering to as large a crowd as possible. If you do both MP3 and OGG, you should be able to do the same basic thing.

I personally prefer OGG files just because it's an open format and works with anything I've ever needed it for. But releasing them in MP3 is also a good idea.
