Could be windows update doing its windows update thing.

A better description of what it does, when it does it, and whose using it when it does it would be great. Along with the make and model, and all of that jazz.

How the hell should we know? Maybe make sure you have enough power supply?
Could you please tell more about the problem? For example does it happen "randomly"? Is it at boot? And if so, how long into the boot sequence does it happen?

You know what I think. I think your processor coolant is either not installed properly, or not working at all.

I don't know what processor you have. But most of them have a failsafe so the PC shuts down as soon as it comes close to around 75 - 80 degrees C.

I'd crack open your PC case and check the processor fan. Make sure that it's running and close to the CPU.
I dont know if you built it yourself. But you can remove the fan if you are careful. Check if there is enough cooling paste and/or reinstall it properly.

If this doesn't fix it then well...I dunno.

Make sure your PC's "breath" places in the back (side, or wherever) isn't leaning toward the wall so the warm air can't go away, so your PC will emergency shutdown if it's getting too hot. (lol, deku_stick had the same problem..)

Try to find out if it's a hardware or software problem (or maybe both).

Get a mac.

[/fanboy]

Make sure you have enough power supply to meet the limits. Make sure the case has air going in and out. Try keeping one side of the case off and seeing if that helps.

What is your GPU? Vista beats the !@#$% out of it, it might be shutting down because of it.

Enable your updates and download them. They improve windows =/.

Fans are cheap to replace. But double check if you have all 4 plugs pushed in all the way so the whole thing cant move anymore.

Oh, give me a break... Linux isn't the solution to everything. (bet i'll get some smart ass retort like "ya it is u fail" and then everyone'll go "omg owned") He said he built the PC himself, so there might be some connection problem, or maybe it's not getting enough power. It could also be some other things other people said. But I'm sure getting Linux won't fix it. How bout this: if he fixes it by switching to Linux, I'll pack my bags and leave ZFGC right after I hear it from Loz2k5.
