Title: Can anybody get me these soundtracks (in MIDI)?
Post by: Milo on July 13, 2015, 12:00:59 am
Hi there. I have been working on a game for a few months now and I am almost done with it (pretty much have everything done except the credits XD), but I am missing two soundtracks that I really want to put in my game. Both are from the Minish Cap and I would want them in MIDI format. I can find them in MP3 but it seems like no one has it in the format I want.

Here is a site with the music :http://www.zeldacapital.com/mtmc.php (it says "MIDI library" but they are all MP3s ::). The two soundtracks I am looking for are:

-Wind Ruins
- Enemy Attack

If somebody could find a source that has these tracks in MIDI I will be grateful. If somebody can somehow convert it from MP3 to MIDI for me (I tried) I will be very grateful. And if somebody can show me how to convert it (or even rip it out from the source game in MIDI) then I will be a little grateful  XD. In any case, if somebody can help me here then I will be thankful. I just want to put this project behind me.

MP3 to midi will probably produce a sound similar to dying cats :( I checked VGMusic, but their MC collection isn't too vast.

How do people get MIDI soundtracks in the first place? Did they rip it from the game or did they have to recompose it from scratch?

They typically compose it themselves

Midi files actually contain no sound, they're just like sheet music for another program to play songs. They're like the music for a player piano. And then in the analogy the soundcard or other program would be the piano.

So this made me curious, what format is music in a gameboy game in? Is it a midi kind of file and the gameboy has the software to interpret it and play the bing bong noises?

I'm pretty sure gameboy, snes etc are *not* midi.  Not sure about gameboy, but I'm pretty certain snes is SPC.

The internal music files are not MIDIs, for sure. They can be converted into MIDIs, but dat data loss tho -_-

Enemy Attack, you looking for something similar to when common enemies confront you in OOT?

Oh man. Okay, then I guess I will just leave it silent for now. Thanks anyways though.

Sort of. There is a part in my game where you get locked in a room and have to fight off a bunch of enemies. It happens in Minish Cap, and that is where that type of music is used.

Ok, I'd have to look later to see if I have it, I have a few enemy encounter themes but most likely remixes of it or snes versions of OOT songs.

Milo, why not get the music from youtube, Get the URL (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTQwHonBZMI) and put it here: http://www.youtube-mp3.org/es
It will convert any youtube audio into an MP3.

Look for a MP3 to MIDI converter in google, there are plenty. Example: http://www.widisoft.com/mp3-to-midi.html

I actually have those themes I want in MP3 from the site linked above. I have tried to convert it, but like MG-Zero said, it sounds terrible, like a broken piano.

Thanks, but I am looking specifically for MC soundtracks, since I am making an MC-style game. Also they have to be in MIDI as well, which apparently is hard to get. Don't worry if you don't have it.

They gotta be ripped from the game. Use an emulator, or something.
