The title's misleading. It's not fiscal irresponsibility, but an attempt to try to match other Western nations in terms of healthcare, without realising that the healthcare system needs a  lot more investment - and that the majority of the people who really need the healthcare are the young, not the old.

Part of the problem is that they've been projecting healthcare costs for only people above a certain age; if they'd been used to providing healthcare for everyone, it'd be fine.

Also, taxing a bit more really wouldn't hurt. Especially if tax cuts for high earners were eliminated.
