That happened when Hironobu Sakaguchi left Square.  That was the "GG" moment for Square.

We're long passed that.  I think the grave has been dug up, the zombie horse thrown out and beaten.

I dunno guys, there are some FF games which I have seen to be treasures. Then again, the majority of the new games are crap in comparison to the days of old.

And at least it's the end of FF13 right guys?

It's not FF by name (apart from the "FF" part in the title), but bravely default (BD:FF - bravely default : flying fairy) on the 3DS has been absolutely brilliant imo. When it comes out in the west I HIGHLY recommend it.
I never imaged that that first (?) 3DS rpg with such a weird name could be so fun where I put in over 10 hours into the demo alone, which is solely based on combat in one small area, ending with me buying the game and finding pretty much all aspects of it to be surprising fantastic.
I guess because it's not a final fantasy, it has nothing to follow up to and so can just do what it wants, letting it take some slightly strange at first glance choices in design - ie far less people in towns that you may think is no where near acceptable for current day rpgs etc, but thanks to that, pretty much everyone has a purpose and you spend so much time in said towns with various people that for the hours you are in each one, they all feel very homey for that time. (They also look incredibly beautiful with 3D on, showing that it's not just some painted like fake pre-rendered background, but some beautiful painted like world that you are *literally* inside, which the 3D lets you properly feel. It's also very breath taking when you stand still and the camera zooms out to show the entire town in all its glory.)

This game has got me far more interested in SE than I have ever been before.

Correct, but that was before the dead horse had been beaten

Final Fantasy hasn't been awesome since IX. Hopefully, Bravely Default gets released in the West as a FF spinoff, kinda like Seiken Densetsu.

Oh I know. I had LO for a while, then traded it.  Been thinking about picking it up again.
