So I've tried to mix whole-tone and modal scales to create a different atmosphere to my music.
It may sound a bit dissonant in the beginning, but it's on purpose.

This piece is about: Evil fairies trying to seduce an adventurer.

Wow, this is awesome  :o
Sounds like it could have been in a real game.
For me it sounds a bit like twilight world. ;)
Keep it up   :D

It sounds really nice. When I hear this I have to think about a shadowy forest, like the minish woods.

To bad it isn't usable as background music. Due to the fade a clear ending of the song is noticeable, which makes it not repeatable for background music. And that is really a shame, because the song is really nice.

Thanks for the comments. :)

@Niek: That's simple, I just need to cut it before the ending.

Certainly interesting, it makes me think of a dark misty forest like the lost woods in LttP. I'm not one to use dissonant chords myself but you seem to be able to use them to good effect :D.

It's funny though, that you guys imagined a dark forest for it, while I imagined a bright foggy lake or river <.<
It doesn't matter though, what I wanted to express were just the fairies.

I also imagine a forest. It's a very good piece, but unfortunately, probably unsuitable for the mysterious woods of Link's Awakening.

Yeah a forest definitely comes in mind. Heavily reminds me of Final Fantasy IX's Dark Mist Forest (or whatever it's called) towards the beginning of the game. But me likes a lot.

I'd have to agree with those who are reminded of a dark forest, it's very interesting that's for sure.

I really enjoyed it, it was a great tune, would be great in a game, especially of zelda origin. Not sure what you can do to change the atmosphere of the song though, but it in itself is good enough for any mysterious purpose.

Listening again, I do have a little niggle. At about 0:40 when the piece repeats the first little harp bit it's a bit sudden how it jumps from the first ending back to that, it sort of broke the immersion.

@Darklight & Itgh
Hmm... true, it breaks the immersion a bit.
Trying to solve that, I modified that section a bit, do you think it's better now? (view "Fairies-2.mid")

@others:
Forest    5
Twilight  1
Lake      1
So it seems everyone thinks of it as a forest... :P it's okay.

@those who say it could be in a game:
Putting it in a game wasn't my intention, specially because of the 2 climaxes. Background music shouldn't have many wild changes in the mood of the piece, so I'm not sure if it would sound well in a game, unless if I recompose it, reusing the themes.
Anyway, I cut the second part (that has the most impetuous climax) to make a loopable version, if anyone wants it. (view "Fairies - loopable.mid")

I think it would fit with a custom made Twilight World since it changes pretty much in Twilight Princess too.
I can just imagine someone making twilight princess and use this as the twiligt world sound. It fits perfect.
And im trying to understand how all can imagine this as a forest background music.  :-X

EDIT:
Can you try to fade down the tones at 0:40 so that the sound goes down to the right tone? It sounds like it jumps to another part now.

(sorry I didn't see your edit before)

Do you mean the tones right before or after 0:40?
If it's for the ones before, that's complicated, because it's a MIDI and it's only one whole note in "Ensemble Strings 2". I can't make one only note fade down in MIDI (not that I know), unless if I break it to many notes and edit the volume one by one, but that doesn't work well with that instrument, because it stops the sound the restarts again, it won't sound well.

If you mean the tones right after 0:40 then I can still soften it a bit, but I have to be careful not to soften too much because the theme is restarting. <.<

LTGH: Twilight is a broad term, because it means that the world is dark but not completely as dark as the night. It is the state right after sunset, when the very last rays of the sun are dissappearing. A forest, field, lake and villages can all be covered in twilight. As I said a shadowy forest like the minish woods.

sjegtp: I think you did succeed in the fairies, because it makes you think that there are many creatures living and moving all around you, but you can't see the due to shadows and cover. As such a thing is easiest to imagine with a forest. That is why I think of a forest.

The reason i said twilight is that it remembers me of the twilight world/realm in The legend of zelda: twilight princess. Not just twilight. i also said that this would fit in as the twilight world/realm background music if someone makes Twilight Princess 2D (most likely will never happen).
But well, everyone is not the same.

That's not what I imagined but that's also an interesting interpretation. :P

That's like recreating aLttP in a modern PC, nearly impossible for a ZFGCer <.<
