Sorry for the bump, but I felt like answering this.

Basically, they all went to a sort of purgatory after they died. They all made it to that place at the same time, even though they died at different times, because it is outside time. The flash sideways were all showing this purgatory. Also, I really have to disagree with you, Ethelon. Yes, everyone died, but at different points in time. Jack and company were brought back to their present after the atom bomb exploded. And the show definitely was in no way over, especially considering the tremendous development of certain characters in season 6, most notably Jack and Benjamin.

American Beauty
Garden State
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Burn After Reading
Unforgiven.

<---!@#$%.

!@#$%? I think not: American Beauty is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen, and Burn After Reading is fantastic.

No problem. VLC seems to be the solution to all of the problems regarding video files on Windows for some reason :S.

So true. When in doubt, use VLC.

I'm currently reading Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson.

I'm also reading The Unfit: History of a Bad Idea for my History of Eugenics Class and The Seven Daughters of Eve by Brian Sykes for my science course. I highly recommend the latter.

Well; I'm going to put this to the test. I just put in my preorder for Guitar Hero: Metallica, and they said I can pick it up on the 28th at midnight. We'll see what happens :p

Well, in doing so you've recognized the secret to getting anything out of Gamestop: preorder your games.

To me the front looks like it could be his back, and he somehow managed to turn his head around 180 degrees.

I'd say he looks rather flat in general, somewhat reminiscent of Gumby for me.

I didnt say that its wrong i just say that its pretty easy to see that they are veterans already, isnt it?
Just look at you +1000 posts, as fast as they see that they would think "he must have been here for a while and knows what he is doing."

ZFGC has been around for five and a half years and has gone through several different incarnations. If you had to ask me, I'd say you would classify as a vet if you were here in the EZBoard days, maybe InvisionFree.

Yes, MGS4 is awesome.

MGS is the only series to which I'm a fanboy.  <3 Kojima

(however, mgs3 > mgs4)

Agreed 100%. MGS3 is one of my favorite games of all time, but MGS4 was everything I wanted it to be and more. The story was compelling and resolved everything, the gameplay was as good as ever, the boss fights were excellent (especially the first one and the

), the balance of cutscenes and gameplay was just what I was looking for (which makes the game almost as fun to watch as it is to play), and the production values were the best I've ever seen in a video game. This is a game that really is great to watch as well as play, so my friends had no qualms with spending an entire week watching me play MGS4.

Here a bunch of my dwarves are on break in the dining hall, and it appears my food stockpiles are kind of gross: there is a corpse on the ground (probably a rat or roach my cats killed) and a swarm of flies. My stone stockpiles to the left though are looking very nice, with a good stash of conglomerate and chalk to save for making crafts I can sell when the trade caravans come back. Over the winter, they're going to hibernate and expand downwards, probably building private quarters for everyone.

How do you have so much free time?

« on: February 11, 2009, 01:56:17 am »
Yes graphics matter to me.  I still love loads of games with awful graphics, but when I buy a current game, I want it to look good.  Games are a visual media, so they should look good visually.

This doesn't mean realistic: I love stylized graphics.  However, low resolution outputs (wii) bother me, because it isn't up to date.

XD low resolution output.

People concentrate too much on !@#$% like HD quality and what not.

HD quality makes huge difference with large HD tvs. Non-HD gams and programming can oftentimes look like !@#$% on a 46" LCD tv.

Wow, way to put a "I'm close-minded!" sign on your head, Hyrule Boy.

A similar argument would be "You either love George Bush are you're an anti-american terrorist"

One thing I would definitely change is the shading on the afro. Your light source is clearly above, as you've demonstrated with the shine of the first two, so your lightest color needs to predominate the afro.

I just found out about this project and was intrigued. I couldn't help but do a quick concept drawing in Flash of what I would envision a future Link to look like.

Well, I've been talking with the people at Amazon, and they're sending me a new copy, which should arrive tomorrow. With any luck, I'll finally be able to finish this amazing book by dinner.

I hit a snag in returning my defective copy, looks like I'll have to take it directly to a post office instead of sending it from my dorm's mail room. Oh well, just a minor inconvenience when compared to everything I've had to go through to finish this book.

Radiohead-- Radiohead has always been one of those bands that I like, but I haven't really listened enough to.  I'm gonna go download Rainbows, and I have OK computer already.  Great band tho :)

Followed by Ghosts-- oh awesome.  Listening to a song on youtube now-- loving it so far.  I'll probably buy the album :D  Thanks dude

If you decide to get more Radiohead, some of my favorite tracks include:

Amnesiac: Pyramid Song, Like Spinning Plates, You and Whose Army?, Life in a Glass House
Hail to the Thief: 2+2=5, Where I End and You Begin, I Will, Wolf at the Door
Kid A: Everything In Its Right Place, National Anthem, How to Disappear Completely
In Rainbows: Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Faust Arp, Jigsaw Falling Into Place
OK Computer: Paranoid Android, Exit Music, Fitter Happier, No Surprises
The Bends: Fake Plastic Trees, Just, Street Spirit (Fade Out)
I Might Be Wrong (Live Recordings): Like Spinning Plates

Also, if you look in the videos for Followed By Ghosts, the guy with the huge beard and ponytail used to be my roommate. He's awesome.

Radiohead - my absolute favorite band. All of their stuff's great, but if you've never listened to them before, I recommend starting off easy with either In Rainbows of OK Computer. If you like what you hear, go ahead and give Amnesiac, Kid A, and Hail to the Thief a listen.

Cake - another band I love. They have a very original sound, and extremely catchy songs. I recommend trying Comfort Eagle or Motorcade of Generosity.

Followed by Ghosts - a post-rock band that my former roommate's in. His favorite band is actually Godspeed, so I'm confident you'll really like them. They may be an indie band, but they just recently got a deal to have one of their songs in a documentary, so they're moving up in the world. They should have two albums out right now.

Sigur Ros - another post-rock band. My former roommate loves them, and so do a few other people I've talked to on campus. I haven't listened to them too much, but so far I like what I've heard.

« on: January 23, 2009, 01:00:06 am »
My next check will probably be spent getting Halo 3, Assassin's parkour, Soul Caliber 4, a new controller, and a couple other 360-related accessories.

Do yourself a favor: don't buy those games. I can maybe understand Halo 3 if you have a lot of friends you want to play with. Soul Caliber 4 is ok, but if you have any of the other installments you aren't really missing out that much. The one I would recommend least is Assassin's parkour: I just didn't enjoy it that much. Plus, after you beat it there isn't much else to do. If you really want to play it, do yourself a favor and just rent it.

Book sounds good, although I don't think leaving the world because there is the inevitable stupidity (Only two infinites in the universe, the universe and stupidity, or however it goes) is very rational, although it may just be a metaphor for when the people who were used to work and solving problems essentially die out and leave people who can't handle something that goes wrong... I'll have to put it on 'The list'

It was really a rough summary, the premise of the book isn't exactly like that. I highly recommend it, though.

Considering that you are going to college, it'd be a surprise if they did not have the book in their library. But yeah, getting a book that has been desecrated like that is disappointing and wrong.

My school library's website says that it's checked out and due back in May. It said that when I ordered the book in November. I find that interesting, considering that they usually only let you check books out for a month.
