Here is 11 minutes of a game for the Wii/Wii U that should have been a fun offline game like DQ9, but instead squeenix decided to be stupid and make it an online game.

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/06/22/over-ten-minutes-of-dragon-quest-x/

After Nintendo Direct, there was a lengthy look at Dragon Quest X. It seems like Square Enix covered their bases with Dragon Quest X, which appears to have Dragon Quest IX style character customization, social spots like customizable houses, and plenty of fields with familiar monsters. The Wii’s swan song for Japan will be available on August 2 with two hours of "kids time" free play each day.

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/06/23/final-fantasy-xi-expansion-seekers-adoulin-brings-two-new-classes/

Square Enix have announced a new expansion for Final Fantasy XI, titled Seekers of Adoulin. The game was given away by a trademark earlier in the week. Seekers of Adoulin adds two new classes to the game—Geomancer and one more unrevealed class.

Didn't think that boring ass game was still that popular.

Entertainment / 3DS XL Announced, No charger
« on: June 22, 2012, 04:43:07 am »
http://kotaku.com/5920420/nintendo-announces-a-new-bigger-3ds

The screen is 90 percent bigger, with larger bottom and top screens. It's called the Nintendo 3DS LL in Japan and the Nintendo 3DS XL in the West.

The top screen measures at 4.88 inches and is 90 percent bigger, while the bottom screen is 4.18 inches and is also 90 percent bigger.

For the 3DS LL, the battery will last 3.5 to 6.5 hours while playing 3DS games (as compared to 3 to 5 hours with the 3DS). The battery will last 6 to 10 hours for DS games (as compared to 5 to 8 hours for the 3DS).

To cut costs, Nintendo is selling the AC adapter as a stand alone, but the 3DS LL will work with current 3DS plugs.

The 3DS XL will come in three colors (White, Red x Black, Silver x Black) and be out in Japan on July 28 for ¥18,900. The 3DS XL will be out in Europe on July 28. In North America, it will be released on August 19 for US$199.99 in Black, Black x Blue, and Black x Red.

SO it looks like they upgraded the battery by a whole hour. But now you get to buy the charger.

This is what Nintendo believes.

Entertainment / Hmm, the Wii U Pad battery only lasts 3-5 Hours.

http://kotaku.com/5916047/oh-dear-the-wii-us-controller-battery-only-lasts-for-3+5-hours

Here's some E3 buzzkill for you: it seems the battery in Nintendo's Wii U control pad only lasts for 3-5 hours.

That's...wow. That's less than a lot of you would spend during a serious session with a game.

This is going to be a problem given the nature of the controller; it's one thing to have a pad plugged in while it's sitting in your lap and charging. If you're tilting it and moving it around the room, it's going to create problems.

Those aren't rumoured specs, either; they're official figures supplied by Nintendo. Bummer. Even worse is that they're estimates, with Nintendo saying that the screen brightness and "usage" may decrease it even further.

Live Companions”

http://kotaku.com/5915340/microsoft-wants-to-stream-console-games-to-phones-turning-handhelds-into-xbox-live-companions

Kotaku has learned from a reliable source that, either at E3 or in the very near future, Microsoft plans to unveil a new feature known as Xbox Live Companion. Not to be confused with its social and marketplace app Xbox Companion, Xbox Live Companion is a system where developers of Xbox 360 console games can stream content directly to a mobile phone or tablet.

Oh silly microsoft

Wii U Pro Controller.

http://kotaku.com/5915318/nintendo-unveils-hardcore-wii-u-controller

The point of the Wii U is that it has a fancy, touch-screen controller. That may not be suitable for all titles, though. Especially ones being ported from other consoles. For that, much like the Wii, the Wii U will have a Pro Controller, one that you could say resembles the pads of one of Nintendo's competitors.

More stupid Mii Crap

http://kotaku.com/5915323/enter-the-miiverse-its-a-world-nintendos-invented

Miiverse the new network service where Miis from around the world can meet. The redesigned Wii Plaza shows Mii clustered around various Wii U titles. This shows what games players are enjoying and what's popular. Nintendo also showed Miis leaving in-game messages.

Mii WaraWara, taken from the Japanese's "warawara" (the sound of things happening, in Japanese).

Some new online things:

http://kotaku.com/5915322/nintendos-wii-u-has-a-proper-online-community

Here's a pleasant surprise: the Wii U looks like it's going to have a proper online community built into the console. In a video shown during a pre-E3 conference, a user on the console jumps onto the controller and consults a GameFAQs-like service, while at the same his friend is monitoring Tweet-like messages on his phone.

That latter part is especially nice, given Nintendo's previous reluctance to branching its services out onto other platforms.

Also displayed was a video calling service similar to Skype.

Wii Wara Wara is a dumb name.

Entertainment / Tales of Xillia 2 announced.

http://kotaku.com/5915143/the-next-tales-is-indeed-tales-of-xillia-2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R35xRU2zU2A

Widely expected, Tales of Xillia 2 was indeed confirmed as the name of the series' next sequel at the Tales of Festival in Japan today. The word comes from producer Hideo Baba himself.

That trailer introduces the new world of Tales of Xillia 2, which does reflect a departure from the sword-and-sorcery motifs of previous entries in the Tales series. There's also this one-minute look at the game's combat.

A Japan release is scheduled for the end of this year; a specific date and price will be announced on June 27. The game is for the PS3. There's no information on any western localizations. The first Tales of Xillia was a Japan-only release.

Interesting, maybe we'll get Tales of Xillia haha

Good news! The PC version of hard-as-nails Dark Souls is, oh yes, Steam bound. What's more, the console versions will be getting PC exclusive content as paid DLC this winter.

Dubbed Artorias of the Abyss, the downloadable content be out this winter on the PS3 (US$14.99) and the Xbox 360 (1200 MS Points).

Artorias of the Abyss will have more bosses, more enemies, more armor, more weapons, and more areas to explore. In one word: more.

Well thats pretty cool.

http://kotaku.com/5914414/shin-megami-tensei-iv-is-coming-to-3ds-gets-a-couple-teaser-images

http://megaten4.jp/

There is a new Shin Megami Tensei game coming, and it looks to be coming only to the Nintendo 3DS. This confirms last night's rumor.

The game's teaser site is now live, depicting a couple of people overlooking a distant city, with the streets of the city covered in fog.

NeoGAFer SolidSnakeex has cleared the images up to make them easier to view; given the desolate sound effects and dark, abondoned streets, it seems like this city has seen better days. The images are quite wide, so click 'em to see the full version.

We've got a note off to Atlus PR and will be sure to update once we've got more information about the game.

Pretty cool atlus

It seems like with its newer games Nintendo is constantly trying to use "popular" ideas from other games to try and make their games better.

Skyward's "new things" were:

Non-Pausable Inventory System: From games like Dead Space, RE5

A system to upgrade Weapons and Shields: As seen in games like Dark Cloud, more popular in the Demons Souls and Dark Souls games.

Adventurers Pouch: Pretty much a limited inventory system: As seen in games like RE 1-3, RE5, etc

This one falls under the Other Things part:

Trying to shoehorn the Wii Motion Plus into everything
: In Skyward Sword the Wii Motion Plus is shoehorned into everything, from swimming, to trying to make the enemies work with the Wii Motion Plus, it seemed Nintendo spent more time on trying to get everything in the game to work with the damn thing that SS suffered because of it. Skyward Sword had repeating areas, boss fights, the stupid tears from TP mixed with the no damage from the DS games etc. All because Nintendo relied too heavily on the WM+

Other M: This game, thats really all i can say.

Nintendo, stop trying to use other games ideas, especially stupid non-pausable inventory ideas to try and make your games better.

The following comment comes from David Gibson, Head of Software & Services for Macquarie Capital Securities Japan. He made the statement via Twitter when asked about the possibility of Monster Hunter 3G getting localized.

Capcom keep saying its unlikely as audience not there based on the wii game

I know Monster Hunter Tri didn't blow the market away, but I thought it sold pretty decently. Have any of the Monster Hunter games released stateside really brought in big sales?

So pretty much "its the fans fault again"

http://kotaku.com/5909053/xbox-minecraft-locks-some-players-out-of-its-biggest-new-feature

Some people who bought the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft have found themselves unable to use one of its most important features. Unless they feel like buying new televisions.

The console version of Minecraft, which launched today on Xbox Live Arcade, offers a unique mechanic that isn't available on the computer: split-screen multiplayer. You can sit in a living room and dig up blocks while perched alongside your friends and family, building all of Game of Thrones or whatever else it is crazy kids do in Minecraft nowadays.

But you can only use the feature if you own a high-definition television, according to developer 4J Studios. That's a problem for many fans, who have taken to Minecraft's forums in outrage and confusion, saying they had no idea an HDTV was required for split-screen.

And indeed, the Xbox Live Marketplace seems to make no mention of the fact that a high-definition display is required for this feature:

Entertainment / Battlefiend 3's official servers disappearing.
« on: May 11, 2012, 09:54:16 am »
http://kotaku.com/5909466/where-did-all-the-official-battlefield-3-servers-go

Where Did All The Official Battlefield 3 Servers Go?

It seems that EA and DICE have, very quietly, been taking away official servers for the console versions of Battlefield 3. Worse still, it looks like they're replacing them with servers that fans have to pay for.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Battlefield fans could "rent" their own servers for $25-30 a month. Seemed like a good deal, especially when it lightened the load on the actual EA and DICE servers.

Yet searches now find that almost every server is one of these rented ones. Which is a problem, because the rules on these servers can be all over the place; those wanting a straight, official game are finding it tough. It's also an issue because it sure makes it look like EA and DICE are passing the cost of running this game onto consumers.

Pressed on Reddit as to why this is, DICE's Daniel Matros said "There is only so much physical space and digital space where you can have servers. The community requested [a rental program] and we delivered."

He did note later, though, that he would be taking the complaints back to DICE with him. Whatever that's worth.

Oh EA, its a wonder why your company annoys people.

A black ops super soldier seeks payback after she is betrayed and set up during a mission.

What they don't tell you is that the music in the movie completely ruins a lot of the "intense" scenes and makes the movie seem like a parody or something out of Lupin the 3rd.

Not much more than a brief tease; as part of today's "Nintendo Direct" news event in Japan, the company said "a special Wii disc featuring all your favorite Kirby games," will be released this year, the character's 20th anniversary.

Sweet, another low print run of another 12 MB Wii Disc
