I do occasionally if my legs are not in contact with the ground so that the blood flow does not get stagnant and so when I get up to walk around again I do not feel like I am walking on weak legs.  Otherwise I sit still or do that because I am bored.  I have been doing it since I was about seven.

Depends on who I'm around.

Around nobody: Usually not, unless I'm cold.
Around people I know/don't know, but am uncomfortable around: Yes.
Around people I'm comfortable with: No.

I guess, for me, it's just a nervous thing. Been doing it forever.

I just randomly start doing it.

I've had a couple girls sitting on my lap and I start doing it. One time one of them asked if I was excited. Another asked me to stop cause it was kind of annoying. I couldn't stop it though, it just kept doing it itself.

I've been doing that ever since I can remember.

Don't most people do it? I think it's something to just pass the time. I find myself doing it more often when in class or when I'm just sitting somewhere doing nothing interesting in particular.

Do you guys remember why you even started shaking your legs? I did because... well, I hadn't run
for weeks and during that time I felt like I needed to keep my awesome (not) stamina up
somehow without having to run around alone like a crazy... frog, so I started to shake my legs.
It's one of the dumbest thing I have ever done, but what can I say, I was a bizarre and desperate
crazy... frog.

I do it.  I think it's because it relaxes me.  I have heard that it is "unconscious masturbation", though.  XD

I do it when I'm uncomfortable around people when I get shy, or when I'm all comfy, snuggled up and cosy in winter ^_^.

Why is this such a common, accepted thing?

I mean yeah, I do this involuntarily. In fact, one day I was just sitting down and I realised that when I sat in a certain position where my feet weren't flat on the floor, I couldn't stop shaking my legs in vertical directions. But... what does it mean :o?

It usually happens to me when my feet aren't fully on the ground and depending on how I am sitting, it can take awhile before it actually starts happening <_<

Oh, I misread the question lmao.

I thought it was purposely shaking/shivering your legs. But yeah it happens to me too when I have my toes on the ground but not my heels, soon the shaking follows.

But it certainly feels weird, unfortunately it can be an annoyance while playing drums, sometimes it goes spastic and loves to make the bass kick 'bounce'.

I often do it. I also swing my legs or whatever you'd call it if my feet aren't touching the ground.

I do but usually when I've been tapping a rhythm with my feet, then i conciously stop, but my legs keep shaking.
