Debates / Re: Satanism

Holy christian blasphemies, batman! :O

I agree with alot of your replies I have just read.

I for one don't feel comfortable committing myself to a religion because I would feel obligated to follow ALL of it's philosophies and rules even if I don't want to. I agree with many parts of satanism; and disagree with parts of it too. Religion to me is unimportant; to others it can mean everything. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I take bits and pieces from several religions and adhere them to my own moral fibres so that I have a set of rules that I feel comfortable guiding my life by.

I guess. Deciding whether it is wrong to be a satanist, or just hearing people's opinions. Personally, I believe in religious tolerance. jewish, christian, muslim, satanist, agnostic, etc. doesn't matter. people have a right o believe in what they want.

Debates / Satanism
« on: September 12, 2008, 02:25:45 am »
Guys, I think I may be a satanist.

basically, here's what satanism is:
-they do not believe in heaven or hell, or God or Satan.
-heaven and hell are merely states of mind.
-to a satanist, he or she is their OWN god.
-they live life to indulge.
-they don't waste time and love on ingrates. they don't believe in herd conformity or religious pipe dreams
-they focus on enjoying life and doing as they please (but there are rules, so, if raping=hapiness, then so be it, but thats a no no)

many people actually live by the philosophies of satanism (as they are based upon the carnal instincts of humans), but dont want to be refered to as satanists. most americans just call themselves christians even though they do not know what that religion fully entails as far as beliefs go, rituals, etc.

from wiki:
Current church teachings have laid claim to philosophical ideas such as individualism, self-indulgence, and "eye for an eye" morality, and teachings from Friedrich Nietzsche and Ayn Rand. Borrowing Crowley's terminology, its adherents define Satanism as a "Left-Hand Path" religion, rejecting traditional "Right-Hand Path" religions such as Christianity for their perceived denial of life and emphasis on guilt and abstinence. Unlike Theistic Satanism, which is rejected by the Church of Satan as Christian heresy rather than Satanism, it does not literally worship Satan, but rather uses Satan as a symbol for people's natural inner desires, emphasizing atheism in contrast to worship of any god

It's really complicated. I'm doing a research paper on it in my Comp. Comm. class in my high school as a senior project.

Really, this overview is very poor but I'm tired and I just wanted to put it out there. I'll go back later and fix it up, adding details and such.

Discuss.

Entertainment / Question about WoW trial
« on: December 15, 2007, 02:12:42 pm »
It NEEDS to have a payment method selected for the trial to work, and theres this thing called "Bill to Phone" which addds the fees of playing to your phone bill. HOWEVER, no charges will be incurred unless I choose to upgrade my account from a guest pass; but I'm unsure of this. If I choose to "pay" this way, will I be charged at all? Even though they say I won't unless I choose to upgrade? I'm scared to go through with such a decision; it even asks me if I'm 18. :P I really wanna play though. And they reassured that no charges will be made unless I choose to upgrade....

sigh.

EDIT: well, I needed a quick response and I wasnt getting it from here, so I went through with it. The automated phone lady kept telling "by pressing 1, you agree that charges may be placed on your account" even though IT'S A FREE TRIAL and the only reason they want to know such info is in case YOU CHOOSE TO UPGRADE.

I hope I'm right.

What's a good quality router? Belkin customer support sucks because all the help technicians are all hardcore middle easterners, and not only is it uncomfortable to talk to them, but it's almost impossible to understand them. :P

Can't wait. I'm willing to bet that the internet will break when the trailer is released. It did when the last trailer came out. Everyone went apeshit and rockstargames.com was down for a few hours.

It's all good; it must be a compatibility issue with Vista; I downloaded Limewire 4.150 Beta and it works fine. I'm so close to just chucking my goddamned machine right out the window it's not even funny.

such a piece of !@#$%. NOW there's a problem with p2p programs:

Limewire: upon trying to boot it up, it just sits at the screen, stuck at 12 percent (Loading HTML Engine). I've googled for help, but to no avail.

BearShare: it wont connect me to the internet. It says "unable to detect internet connection" when I clearly have one available. I've given it exceptions in my firewall, i've even disabled my firewall, but nothing works.

Halo 3 takes skill, but that's not to say that nooby players don't get lucky. They do.....alot. Games like Shadowrun and CoD4 do take more skill, just not as much as Halo 3. But then again, those are different types of games. R6:V and CoD4 are more tactical games than Halo 3. Halo 3 does involve tactics, just not nearly as much as Vegas and CoD4. They're different games, meant to be played in different ways. But for what Halo 3 is, it's a great game and people will be playing it for years to come.

Thanks guys! I'm stuck with Windows Movie Maker, so advanced editing techniques are a little hard to do. If I had Adobe Premiere or somethin' like that, it would be easier, but all I have is Windows Movie Maker so I can't do a great deal more than what you see there.

I'll be on my PC, doing whatever, when things will just stop working for about 15 to 20 seconds at a time. Clicks won't respond, if I click too much, I get the hourglass cursor, and it says "not responding".

Also, upon bootiing up my PC, it needs to do a "disk check" and I let it do the check, but as it checks the files, it will say "file 100810 is unreadable" and it says that for a few files. I don't know if this is unrelated, but it says that every time I do a disk check, and everytime I restart, it wants me to do a diskcheck. Any ideas?
