ZFGC Character Competition 2008 / My character is withdrawn.
« on: December 16, 2008, 05:30:39 am »
Yeah, I'm withdrawing Lord-General Ta'Vux as I might like to use him again in a future competition, seeing as this one isn't going anywhere, and the fact that I'm going to be where I can't get any internet for probably the entire competition. I wish all the other characters good luck and hope no other contestant follows my lead, which in turn may destroy the competition completely. I'm only withdrawing mainly because I'm not going to have internet access for about four to six weeks, and so the competition won't effect me whatsoever.

ZFGC Character Competition 2008 / Can we start this thing up?
« on: December 01, 2008, 11:20:25 pm »
Yeah, well, if anyone is still making a character, you could post here to protest, but I feel like we should get this competition started, we've got enough entries, and an amount of people will want to leave for the holidays, best have the competition over before lots of people have left...

Lord-General Ta'Vux

Character Biography
Yr: 1198 FA

Lord General Ta'Vux is an insane knight who wanders the lands. He journeys far and wide searching for new, stronger, opponents to fight. He is yet to be defeated by anyone, and has only ever been seen fighting, challenging, or travelling, never seen eating or sleeping. He only ever calls himself Lord-General Ta'Vux, and rumour says he was once the Army-General of a mighty empire long lost, and that he lives forever. No one knows why he feels compelled to always fight, no one truly knows where his name comes from, and no one knows if he is able to be beaten.

Entertainment / This says something about Wii-users
« on: October 04, 2008, 04:22:26 am »
During a period of complete boredom, I decided to go on the Mii contest channel, having a look at the results for the competition 'Someone you could fall in love with at first sight' 15 out of the top twenty were small and thin. and every single one of them (whose gender I could figure out) were female... even the ones created by women. Well, isn't that interesting.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is the sequel to Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and the tenth game in the Fire Emblem Series, a series which does not contain a sole protagonist or setting. In Radiant Dawn it is three years after the mad king Ashnard invaded Crimea and began a bloody war. Now tensions are high in many countries, and war is about to be made, plunging the continent of Tellius into chaos.

Plot: 9.50

Fire Emblem games never disappoint in their plot detail or interest. After the Mad King’s War, Crimea handed over it’s right to rule Daein to the Begnion Empire. Begnion now has a cruel grip over Daein. They do not care for the people, Bandits roam freely while the occupational army, lead by the cruel tyrant Jarod, are only interested in taking funds from Daein and putting their soldiers into work camps. A band of heroes by the name of the Dawn brigade have come together to fight the occupational army and for a free Daein. This is the first part of Radiant dawn. Later on you gain control of numerous other groups such as Crimea’s army and the Greil Mercenaries. Each part holds an intriguing storyline full of twists and confusion. They also hold multiple characters each able to be commanded in battle. Each character has a back story and a lot of detail. This goes to show how much effort is put into the plot, if you view the character map, you will see just how complicated the story line is, almost every character connects with another in some way.  I found it very well done when the armies from different parts collided and you were forced to fight yourself in a way.

The history of Tellius is also full of life and detail, you once again get the feeling that a lot of work has gone into the game’s plot. It has a strong history of racism between two races (Beorc and Laguz) and also has it’s own religion and story of creation.

Game-play: 7.25

Fire emblem is not like most other games, Fire emblem is what is called a strategically RPG, the game-play of Fire Emblem is a lot like an advanced game of chess. You control your own small force of personalized units, and fight against the opposing red army. Sometimes you may be joined by yellow partner armies, and other green armies. Each unit has a class, you normally end up with around 3 or 4 units in the same class. Each class have their own advantages and disadvantages. With a special item or by reaching level 21 you can change class to the next one above (if the unit is Beorc)

Another different aspect to the game is the fact that your characters can not simply be revived by a revive or phoenix down. Once the character loses all it’s HP, it either dies or must retreat and become unable to be used again in battle, forcing people to think through their strategy more carefully.

Both the commanding of a number of units, and the fact there are so many different units available, brings in a whole heap of options for gameplay. Will you choose to command a group of offensive units who quickly crush the enemy and do not care for life loss? Or will you choose to lead a defensive group who slowly advance and carefully make sure they keep everyone alive? Will you have two or three complete powerhouse units to fight with? Or will you train everyone equally? The choice is yours.

This choice also adds a lot of replay value. Three different difficulty settings also aid this. Sure, you completed the game on easy. But try doing it without letting one of your units die. Did you make sure you got all the characters you could? One about getting all the weapons you could? Why not try doing it on Normal difficulty? The list goes on.

I personally find Fire Emblem’s game play to be very entertaining and enjoyable; some other people may find it boring and dislike it. I give it a 7.00 due to this variable fact.

Graphics: 6.50

Fire Emblem does not focus on graphics as much as other categories. The graphics, against popular belief, actually have been updated since the Gamecube Path of Radiance and are considerably better than them however the in-game graphics are still very low quality, although they do clearly display what you need, they have no eye-candy and are quite repetitive. There are also what I call conversational graphics, these are all 2-d and I find them quite well made. They clearly show expressions and give a very good display of the character and what they look like.

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn also has numerous artistic stills, these are really quite good. They are very well made, and look very nice. They are very helpful for portraying important points in game play in detail.

The game does posses some very beautiful graphics when needed to. In cinematic scenes shown at different points during the game the graphics are stunning and the small clips are very nice to watch, and easy on the eyes. All the effects are well made and the end result is an interesting and captivating scene.

Audio: 8.00

The Music in Fire Emblem I found to be quite well made. With 85 different compositions they have music to match nearly any situation or mood. Some characters also had their own themes to match them, such as the King Caineghis or Ike. I especially liked the songs which created a bit of adrenaline such as ‘Stalwarts Unite’ and also enjoyed ‘Caineghis, King of Lions’

Music also plays a part in the game, with Heron Laguz (Human-like beings with wings who can transform into Herons) being able to sing magical songs or Galdrar. These are normally like hymns without words, and are very well performed.

Overall: 8.25
Overall, Fire Emblem is a very entertaining game and is quite enjoyable, it can provide a tough challenge for veteran players and for newcomers it can be very user friendly with a number of tutorials and an easy difficulty helping them to get the feel of the game before moving on to bigger challenges. Fire emblem provides infinite replay value, and is not a waste of money.

However, if you prefer fast-moving, action packed games and dislike using your head in video games, then you should avoid this game, as it involves a lot of thinking things through, and you cannot just bash the buttons to win the game.

Other Discussion / Quite Odd statistics
« on: September 27, 2008, 01:12:50 pm »
Yeah, while overlooking a few things in my profile, I found that Link's quest and the character competition are the top two board which I am active it, despite having not been in there for quite some time. It is disturbing because both of those boards were only active while I hardly ever came here/posted, I must've spent a lot more time here than I thought...

ITT we discuss suprising statistics

Entertainment / Animal Crossing Wii...

No, there hasn't been one announced, I'm just wondering what you guys would think it would have.

I'm thinking 8 digit post codes for wi-fi play, motion sensor tools and fishing, and maybe more interactivity with npcs.

Discussion / ZFGC game...
« on: April 13, 2008, 09:35:28 am »
I'm not preparing to make this game, It's just an idea, just to let you know...

Basically, You're a newcomer to the town/city of ZFGC. You get to enter your name, and you find yourself on an aeroplane to the town of ZFGC. you get to set the clock, and do all that, then you will land and be able to come out into the airport. You'll see a guy with a sign of your name, you meet him and he'll tell you his name (A member of ZFGC... maybe a Mod...) And will tell you he'll show you around the place. There'll be several places from ZFGC, the ZFGC Town Hall, Where people discuss things such as what to build etc, The Museum, where everyone shows off what they've made, The information building, where people can ask things, and be answered by others, the Marketplace, where everyone goes to gossip, ZFGCCIM (ZFGC Center for Interactive Media) Where everyone discusses games, The Debate hall, where everyone goes to argue, the Post office, where people send messages to people, and receive them, and The shop, where people buy stuff. He then drops you at a small house Called Profile, he'll give it to you for free, because it's so small, and has nothing in it. You then take control of your person. You emerge from your house to see someone be shot by Moderators, that person is someone who was banned from here, maybe Isaac... The Administrators greet you, and tell you to remember to obey the law, otherwise you'll end up like poor johnny on the ground. You're then able to explore town. People will first dislike you, but if you play it well, you'll soon fit in. It is also like a constant battle. You have nightclubs and that, and then you have different teams who want different things. You can be spies, assasins, and so on, make a living out of that. If you choose a lawful path, you can become an administrator, or if you choose differently, you can become an underlord.

I was also thinking that certain things coyuld be added like falcon punch or white whale holy grail... or the swith. I don't know, it's just an idea.

Debates / Incest
« on: April 06, 2008, 10:45:39 pm »
ITT we discuss incest and whether it is right or wrong.

Well, recently a 30 year old girl reunited with her father, and they fell in love, then eventually had a child. Is this right or wrong?

I feel it is quite abnormal. A child is supposed to be an object of two peoples love for each other, so finding love after your already supposed to have found love, it is strange. I wouldn't say it's wrong, just quite abnormal.

Feedback / April Fools... >__>
« on: April 02, 2008, 02:57:20 am »
I know April fools can be fun, but the community speak board became a bloody spam board, at least 5 topics were made of just spam with that !@#$% you tag. Can you at least be a bit more creative? I mean, the you tag again? people who fell for it are complete retards. I say make an archive of April fools, and put all those annoying and overdone topics in there and keep them out of community speak.

Other Discussion / I have a regatta tomorrow
« on: March 14, 2008, 06:13:05 am »
Yeah, if you don't know, a Regatta is a rowing race. I've had quite a few, but tomorrow is the final regatta of the season, and if my crew win this race we'll be undefeated. It also will be 38 degrees celcius at the regatta tomorrow. Thankfully my crew only has one race. So far we've only been rowing against the crew below us because my school are the top school in yr 9 eights. Although for some reason the crew above us might be dropped into our division, so that would mean we are !@#$%!

I also have to make a speech on behalf of the three lowest crews in the school at the rowing dinner, but I then will receive my state champ medal.

Entertainment / Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

First May I say: I hate Nintendo Australia. They are the worst Nintendo. They haven't updated their Brawl page since 2006. They always get every game last... except for the wii and Twilight Princess.

So it figures we get Fire Emblem last as well. Grrr... It looks so much fun. I want to eat it for Dinner. Why is Nintendo of Australia so bad and annoying?

Anyway, yeah, the game looks fun. Anyone else got it yet? I want a review, and unfortunately Hoffy is also in Australia so he can't give me one. :(

« on: November 18, 2006, 09:28:05 pm »
Hi,
I was wondering, what spoilers do you guys have for TP? I'veheard small ones that some people think are huge. But they are not so big. I think my standards are tooo high.I have heard from an unreliable source that you can name your horse, that there are 5 heart peices, and a few more that I can't remember. Also could some one tell me when TP for Gamecube will arrive in Australia?!
