I was just wondering, that's all. Is it too much to ask? Anyway, I'd love to see some more tutorials.

To this, I respond with

Please ZFGC don't be stupid...   ...Don't get his other topics locked.

... Dont try to start something Ali; which I know you're attempting to get at. If this turns into a debate about TRM's location, TRM's activity, or anything anti-TRM because of a stupid sarcastic post that is meant to spark some discussion with the sole intent of defamation of him, or his personal life, I'm not going to take it lightly <_<;;... Actually this goes for everyone, I don't mean to single you out Ali, because everyone's kinda doing it...

Will do, check the topics again, they'll have .exes in a few minutes.

Ali, we have rotating shifts here, so it's different times when I can be online.

It's sitting back in the states on a laptop, waiting for my return from Iraq.
And when are you heading home? and once you are home your are able to upload the game or just continue working on it? Anyway the text engine is super leet, which you can expect since it's made by a skilled programmer.

Also, do you have an engine for the menu? I've been debating whether or not to transfer Bloodlines over to GM from ZC. If I had a complete engine, I'd be very happy. Granted, an old OoT2D engine is in the downloads section, but I'm not sure how complete that is, or if I can even use it.

If you have serious interest in making a (fan)game, then you will have to start learning programming! You can't just mix various engines together and build a game with it. And even if you could do it then it wouldn't be really your game since it's filled with engines from other people. I strongly advise you to trow that shitty ZC in the trashcan, and start learning programming. You will definitely need some programming experience to even be able to use the engines from TRM!

Hey, I'm learning. On Goomba's Revenge, I figured out how to use code to change the sprite based on direction. It was very simple. In fact, the more I use code, the better I get (I discovered that while using RPGXP). And the last sentence makes you sound like a TRM fanboy as well. No offense. Just an observation.

Pick up a C++ book(no, a C book :P ), go find mits Zelda Engine 2, study both very well, and THEN attempt to make a game.

My last sentence was meant to said that before you can use TRM's engine well, you have to understand the code he wrote and that code is not newbie stuff.

I got that. I meant that I will eventually learn to understand it. I get the basics, and I guess you could call it the intermediate stuff too.

Also remember the rule of using engines: if its somebody elses code, it will always be more confusing to you than if its your own, because everybody has different styles of programming.

I'm having problems with this and I'm not sure why. I'm not very experienced in GML yet, but I was copying this into another file, and it gives an error, saying that an assignment operator is expected.

Ah, TRM!  :o (suddenly realizes this thread is old) I don't think I've ever seen you here since I registered, except maybe once...but I know you by reputation.  ;)

You know, it's kind of funny, how many copycat projects have sprouted up to try and match yours, but none of them have seen beyond a walking demo. And none of them have gotten as much done as you seem to have completed. So I applaud you for that.  XD

Anyways, more on-topic, I really like these engines you've posted, especially the name registration one. They're all really well done. I like how they really do match the game, but they're made in Game Maker. Most people can't do crap in Game Maker. So the name-registry engine definitely impresses.

EDIT:

I think it's unfortunate that TRM leaves his laptop with "oot2D" at home, yet still has access to Game Maker and has never returned for a visit from Iraq to upload it. I mean, it's only what we've been waiting for since 2003, atleast ATTEMPT to have someone retrieve it and upload it. >: (

You might have been waiting since '03 to play a videogame, but you know what HE has been waiting forever for? A chance to get home and see his wife, and to live an ordinary civilian life.

I don't remotely agree with the war in Iraq or our current president's stance on it, but I still have respect for those in the armed forces who put their butts out on the line to protect us. It's not their fault where they were stationed. They've done the best they can with what they've got. So please don't bad-mouth him for not being in the states to complete his game, he's got different priorities right now.
