GameStop hosting a nationwide Brawl tournament

The last brawler standing will receive an LCD-TV (that's what the release says, but the flyer after the break says plasma), a Wii console plus accessories, "an entire Nintendo Wii Software Library" and $5,000 in cash.

Are any of you planning on participating in this?  I'd go, but the GameStop where I live isn't participating.  I don't feel like driving three hours just to get my ass kicked and drive back.

Looks like mine are:


Apparently the one at Waynechester Plaza is also hosting round 2 and the one at Rockaway (Townsquare) Mall is hosting round 3.

I'm probably not going to it though.

EDIT: Here is the grand prize:
one (1) Vizio 37” LCD TV (ARV: $900.00), entire First Party Nintendo Wii Software Library (ARV: $700.00), one Nintendo Wii Console (ARV: $250.00), selected Nintendo Wii Accessories as determined by Sponsor (ARV: $150.00), $5,000 Cash (ARV: $5,000) and the Grand Prize Trophy (ARV: $500.00).  Total ARV of Grand Prize is $7,500.00.

I don't care about the game tournament, but I'm really excited about the midnight release!  This way I get my hands on it earlier :D (just gotta call gamestop to make sure that they don't cancel or something)

I'd compete if I was good. But I'm only good with Kirby and I don't always win (at least not in Melee) so I doubt I'd win this tournament featuring a game I've never played. In other news, how long have you had your copy reserved? I have a friend (he's on this forum; look up goldensmash128) who has had his reserved since last summer or fall. Well, for at least 6 months. Only because the game was supposed to come out in December.

I'm not going to the midnight release, i hope they still have copies 12 hours later at 12 pm. We pre-ordered it. But i heard our's has like 500+ pre-orders.

I've known about this for a couple of weeks now that there was going to be a tournament.

If you have a Game Crazy near you, they are also having a tournament this weekend.

Who cares about the tournament?  Super Smash Bros. is not meant for tournaments.  We only care about the prize.  Smash Bros. is 50% luck anyway, why not?

(I'm not trying to knock on the franchise BTW.  It seriously is 50% luck and not meant for tournaments.)
