My PC freezes when I try to play online!

When I try to play online with games like Half-life I get this nasty problem. The screen goes black and I can't do anything but I can play Singleplayer from Half-life I never had this problem before.

If you have a router, check that it's working properly. Also, check if your firewall is allowing your Half-Life executable online. If not, your PC might be trying to connect again, and again.
Then again, might be a glitch with the program... what OS are you using? Try running it in Windows 98, or 2000 compatibility mode.
