Entertainment / Skins (probably just UK members...)
« on: March 19, 2010, 02:18:42 am »
When series 1 of Skins came out, I loved it. I thought it was a fantastic show, it was funny, had drama, semi-accurately depicted relationships between young people... now? It was the series finale of series 4, and I just don't care. The new cast had promise, but there's been too much... unrealistic, unlikely stuff. And there's been huge jumps that don't make sense and aren't explained.

For example, Cook getting out of jail. It just happens, no explanation of how, or why it isn't a bigger deal.

So basically I was just wondering if anyone else watched it, and what they thought.

To anyone who hasn't seen it, I say watch it from the beginning for sure. It was much better then.

Entertainment / WoW players?
« on: June 20, 2009, 12:19:29 pm »
I'm gonna come off as a complete n00b here, but I used to play WoW, then stopped. Like, months ago, I don't really remember the signing up process and all that stuff, so if I were to sign up again, what would I have to do? Would I need to buy the game again, or just a top up card? And when I install it, I'm gonna have to wait for it all to patch up again... which will take forever...

Entertainment / Cinema Yesterday...
« on: October 29, 2008, 01:22:08 pm »
I went to the cinema with my girlfriend yesterday to go see High School Musical 3.
It was possibly the best time I've ever had in the cinema. Everybody in the whole place was having a great time, me and her were as well, the film was amazing and I'm listening to the soundtrack right now, because I loved the songs.

Other Discussion / Guitar Paint-Job
« on: October 08, 2008, 03:17:29 pm »
Basicly, I'm going to completely repaint my guitar. Its a Strat copy, by a company called Crafter. Its a nice guitar, but It looks a it dull to me (its in sunburst). I know the main method of how to do it, and Ill have my dad to help me anyway, so I was just wondering if anyone here had experience with this? Or just any hints?

I'm changing it from Sunburst to White, and probably putting a design on it. I have an Idea what design, but I'm not sure yet...

Special Features
Horseback riding is a new and key element in the game play. A great deal of combat takes place on horseback enabling Link to bump his adversaries off their war-horses. Shifting camera system that allows for views behind the back and from above. Camera can be locked during battles. All new characters.

I'm pretty sure none of that is in the NES Zelda. Or there wasn't when I played through it.

I've just been watching the movie of Animal Crossing and its awesome. Im a huge fan of the games and loads of elements from the games are in there, the museum, fishing, bug catching, etc.
They've said its not leaving japan which kinda sucks, but its still an awesome film.

Other Discussion / God
« on: June 08, 2008, 10:10:12 pm »
This is how i hope God is:

A Letter From God to Man

"Hey There, how, how’s it going?
Long time no see.
I know I haven’t been around much lately
But…it didn’t seem like you wanted me to be
The last time I sent down a message you nailed it to the cross
So I figured I’d just leave you to it, let you be your own boss

But I’ve been keeping an eye on you, I have, and it’s amazing how you’ve grown.
With your technological advances and the problems you’ve overthrown,
And all the beautiful art you’ve created with such grace and such finesse,
But I admit there are a few things I’m afraid have impressed me less.

So I’m writing to apologize for all the horrors committed in my name,
Although that was never what I intended, I feel I should take my share of the blame.
All the good I tried to do was corrupted when all the religion got into full swing,
What I thought were quite clear messages were taken to unusual extremes.
My teachings taken out of context to meet the agendas of others,
Interpretations taken to many different ways and hidden meanings discovered

Religion became a tool, for the weak to control the strong
With all these new morals and ethics, survival of the fittest was gone
No longer could the biggest man simply take whatever he needed
‘cause damnation was the price if certain rules were not heeded

Some of the deeds committed in my name just made me wonder were I went wrong.
Back at the start when I created this, the foundation seemed so strong.
See all the elements were already here, long before I began, I just kind of put it all together
I didn’t really think out a long-term plan.

I made the sun an appropriate distance and laid the stars across the sky
So you could navigate the globe or simply watch the sun rise
I covered the earth with plants and fruits,
Some for sustenance and some for beauty
I made the sun shine and the clouds rain so their maintenance wasn’t your duty
I tried to give each creature its own attributes without making them enveloped
I gave you all you all your own space to grow and in your own way space to develop

I didn’t know such development would cause rifts and jealousy
Cause you to war against each other and leave marks on this planet indelibly
You see, I wasn’t really the creater, I was just the curator of nature
I want to get something straight with homosexuals right now: I don’t hate ya
I was a simple being that happened to be the first to wield such powers
I just laid the ground, it was You that built the towers

It was You that invented bombs, and the fear that comes with them
And it was You that invented money, and the corrupt economic systems
You invented terms like just-war and terms like friendly fire
And it was You that didn’t know when to stop digging deeper, when to stop building higher
It was You that exhausted the resources I carefully laid out on this earth,
And it was You that even saw these problems coming but accredited them little worth
It was You that used my teachings for your own personal gain
And it was You that committed such tragedies, even though they were in my name

So I apologize for any mistakes I made, and when my words misconstrued
But this apology’s to mother nature, cause I created you"

Its a song by Dan le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip, but i think it raises some good points on what the classical concept of God might see of what the extremist organised religions have done.

Other Discussion / New Guitar
« on: June 08, 2008, 10:46:48 am »
I ordered a new guitar from Wesley, heres the link:
http://www.wesleyguitars.co.uk/storefrontprofiles/DeluxeSFItemDetail.aspx?sid=1&sfid=44184&c=282695&i=197690496

And heres a pic:

It might not sound as good as a Gibson or Epiphone or anything but I think it looks great and if it does sound bad, my girlfriends stepdad makes guitars and loves me, so I can get him to fix it up. Should be fun. Itll match my bass aswell, another Wesley:

That bass is godly.

Entertainment / N64 > everything.
« on: May 25, 2008, 03:09:11 pm »
seriously, the N64 was the best thing to ever happen.
I just hooked mine up and went to play half an hour of OoT, spent nearly 4 hours on it. And this thread isnt saying that OoT is great (although it is) but that there is no console i have fonder memories of then the N64. I Love the 360 and Wii, but i just dont feel the magic anymore.

has anyone else noticed the similarities? Im not saying they're 100% the same, but there are some things similar. And JD = John Dorian    Wilde wrote The Portrait of Dorian Gray
Dr Cox - Lord Illingworth
Jordan - Mrs Allonby
Gerald - JD
Elliot - Hester
Dr Kelso - Dr Daubeny

(this was the outcome of an amazingly inefficient English Lit Lesson)

Awesome new band from the UK, (we need some... bloody Indie bands...). Same ilk as You Me At Six but even more awesome. I heard these guys before they were signed (my friend went to school with them) and I really love them. Epecialy Black Dress, awesome song.

An old song of theirs, not sure if they still play it.

If so, does it have anything we can't already get off the internet?
If it does I want to try and track down a copy or something as I love ToS with a passion.

Entertainment / What makes an Epic Game?
« on: November 01, 2007, 06:46:19 pm »
What makes a game Epic for you?
Or makes a game great?
It can be any genre, from RPG to FPS.
Personally I need a huge storyline, and a world that draw you in. Which, may i say, does not require ps3 graphics or anything like that,
