I just got the album...

and OH MY !@#$% GOD. This is what Metallica has needed since LOAD. They're back to their roots O_O...

That Was Just your Life !@#$% PWNS! The 3 songs they've already released kickass too O_O

Anyone else have this album?

Never been a huge metal fan, but I don't think I like it as much as their older work, based on what I've heard at least. I listened to 2 of the previously released tracks, as well as a bit of another one, and I have to say I didn't love it.

Sure, it's some of the best stuff they've done in years, but the one dong that I kept hearing was the "proof" that Metallica had returned, My Apocalypse, sounded more like a demo to me. The song had no energy at all.

I don't know. I'm willing to be proven otherwise, but I think Metallica's time is up.

Those 3 released songs have nothing on That Was Your Life, Broken, Beat and Scarred, or All Nightmare Long :p

IMO They released the 3 worst songs first for a reason :D

All right then, I suppose I'll have to check those out.

I'll get back to you when I'm done. ;)

EDIT: Okay, I suppose I was wrong. Those 3 songs are pretty awesome, and make me quite confident that Metallica aren't dead yet.

This album recieved a 1/5 in my local newspaper. D: I haven't listened to it myself though.

But local newspaper probably liked Radio rock Metallica more and people keep talking about them going back to their roots.

That's cool. I won't get it though as...really I'm not much of a fan. I have 3 metallica CDs which i never listen to.

I'm listening to the stream now.
I'm not sure what to think of it yet. One on hand its a lot better than anything they've released in a while, But I'm still not sure if I like it.
It feels very watered down and like they're really trying too hard to appeal to their old fans.
And Lars still needs to learn how to drum.

The Day That Never Comes has a good video, but...its !@#$%. The song that is. The ends alright but the rest of it is terrible...  :-X

So I listened to the entire album.
I have to say, I didn't really like it. It is definitely the best thing since black album, but it still doesn't compare to their old stuff. The production is too refined, it doesn't have that raw edge that good thrash needs. Also, a lot of songs feel like they're really trying too hard to make master of puppets again, it just doesn't work for me.

I like it so far, but it won't give me a new favorite.
There is nothing to match Master Of Puppets or For Whom the Bell Tolls.
But I still hope I'll see one of their show a day! Those new ones could really rock in live (especially That Was Just Your Life^^).

Oh, and I can play The Unforgiven III intro on piano XD(I know it's not really hard but I'm happy^^)

Used to be a HUGE Metallica fan. Loved every album up to and including the Black album. Cliff Burton was god, and was the reason I got into playing finger styled bass. I played in a thrash metal band some time ago, and an ex band mate told me this album sucks. I trust his opinion, but I'll take a listen for myself.
