this is some pretty major stuff, I'm surprised no one has really posted in this topic yet.
at the very least this is incredibly useful just as a reference for yet another 2D version of kokiri forest, great work guillotine

The link model lacks texture, the map looks pretty awesome even without texture.

It lacks texture because I have the textures in another folder lol... Im not going to ever render my models with textures, people use specific textures and including the originals would be like a kick in the nuts to people trying to use bloom effects, cg shaders etc.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (With Pedlya and Djipi's Celda Retexture)

The Re-Mapped model I created.

I tried to get the view as close a possible to eachother.

=/ How many polygons is Kokiri forest? It looks extremely low poly, even for n64 standards...

5,822 faces and 405 objects Piers. This is actually very high poly for the n64.

=/ I do not see that many polygons in that screenshot.... I would've guessed maybe 700 at most. Do you have any screenshots from the top?

During my tests with geometry dumps from OoT some time ago it was nearly impossible to find any areas that used even 3000 triangles including characters, effects, and such.  I believe the highest the N64 was supposed to handle was around 3300.

Your images look like pretty good recreations, kudos for that, but apparently you've got more polygons.  Looking at them, it seems you either have a lot that are overlapping, or several faces with way more edges than any should have.  Either way it's pretty messy from a technical stand-point.

I've done it (sorta)!  Bloom Lighting in GameMaker, and 3D mode too!  Check out the awesome Screen Saver.

Awesomeness.

By the way, you're recreating the maps? Cause I can rip them, no textures or anything, just the map. If you need some you could let me know :P

Edit: Looking at the Kokiri Forest screenshot, it looks very similar to the rip you get from the program I use >_> In everyway...

Come to think of it, the overlapping polygons are probably for the pathway on the ground, which is just fine.  If it is a direct rip though, I can't really see how you got so many faces unless you got all the objects that usually disappear at a distance in it somehow.

Those are nice.  I played around with making Kokiri Forest into a map for Halo CE but I didn't get the geometry from the game right.  It was a mess.

BTW, how is it that you go about ripping the geometry, I lost the programs I used and I forgot how to do it.
