We should get a jump on tiles. Other sprites can be made later and when people are actually making the games.

I was following the same style as Neojume's animations. If you don't like 'em don't use 'em, but they work fine, and all directions look great, even if it's not many frames.

I have to agree that these sort of 3 frame animations are not exactly what I like, as they remind me a lot about RPG maker. but they're great sprites, I am absolutely crap at spriting, let alone animating.



also anyone looking for a laugh read pages 48 onwards (if you haven't already).

8 frames are good, but its hard on things of such small size.

I know that 8-frame animations are better, but Neojume's were 4 frame, and they look fine. Try em once. :)

I like Neojume's 'walking down' animation a bit more. Yours looks a bit more like.. marching, I guess :-\.. but not that bad. (edit: maybe due to the fact that the whole body moves/bobs in Neojume's anim :S)
As well, I agree that more complex animations, though difficult perhaps on this scale, would look ..spiffier :P.

and we dont really need walking either, we need running, which doesn't look good on 4 frames

walking (i typed "weclome" the first time round O_O) may come in handy though, for weird people that like to have a walking and running ability, even though no one uses the walking one :P
or seriously, for cutscenes or something

wont load in imageready, GIFmaker sucks more than you think

but on the last version, it looks like youve got it playing backwards

I got it to work, but you didn't make it easy >:(. (It had a trailing problem for some reason :S)
Next time, just save the frames separately. I must agree with both of you, GIFmaker FTL :(.

And yes, it is certainly better.

I made some changes to make it make a little better, but I get what Taka is saying, it looks like he's walking backwards. And reversing the animation doesn't help.

EDIT: Here's a walking engine in ZFGC style, just for fun. It looks good, no?

and that is why walking sprites aren't really needed, as moving around at that speed in game would be hell lol
(bit of a tile "error" at the bottom right corner though?)

Link always runs. He only walks in touch-sensitive games, eg the 3D ones, so that you can walk at varying speeds. And even then, he normally runs.
