Minor problem with the wii remote

The speaker is loud enough to kill small animals* is there a way to turn it down? I can't see anything mentioning it in the manuals???

*This is an entirely made up-yet pretty accurate description

I noticed that on the demo at EB...They had the tv volume turned down, but the sound on the remote practically echoed around the room, and EB isn't the kind of store to echo...glad there's a way to fix it.
