Well, that sounds indeed like quite a backstory. How does Link get involved, do you think? What his reason for being here in the first place?

I was talking to my friend last night, and he was mentioning about how in 1980, he thought the internet would become this amazing place where people from across the world would share ideas. I was telling him about how this project [KOT] has worked, lurching along for years and drawn by different people from across the globe, and he thought it was beautiful. And he was right, it's awesome. :D

Well, Farore isn't going to be much like the other two Oracles who freely move where ever they'd like to go. She's kept inside the castle and guarded. So, I'm thinking that in her dream of Hyrule in chaos, she faintly sees Link and isn't sure who he is or what his purpose is. She's unsure if he is a good aura in the dream or a bad one and the king immediately sends guard out to search the kingdom for anyone matching the description she gives. They bring back a few people [and I'll throw Tingle in here, I think! Haha] and eventually narrows it down to Link. After getting to know her, she determines you have a pure heart and bestows onto you her power. So, like I said, with that you'll be able to access the dreamworld for short periods of time. I have NO idea what the dream world will look like, though. But I think that mostly everyone will be ugly. Kind of like your appearance represents what's inside you. Trite, yes... but whatever. Haha. So, Link's main objective is to start reaching out to the different sections of Hyrule and trying to spread peace by solving the crisis that plague each race. Along the way, maybe after the first dungeon, you meet a questionable character who you report to Farore. That'll be the bad guy, whoever it is. I don't think I want to have Ganondorf be the big bad in this one.. Maybe he can be a side guy who's helping the big bad, but I'd rather it be a new character, I think. And I'm thinking that you'll have to determine who's causing issues through your interpretations in dream world. I guess something like the Lens of Truth. :P Thats' what I have so far.

"Dream world" =~ "Dark world"..? Just an idea here.
And we haven't yet (in the Zelda series) seen the bad guy is really once a good guy, even a friend of the hero... Hmm, interesting possibility here...
Perhaps, too, the true evil can be this nightmarish creature that jumps from person to person, eating their good dreams and propagating evil ones. Only very few people remain unaffected, but one by one they, too, seem to succumb.
But what, then is Link's form in the "dream state"? Does Farore's power help him remain in his own form in this world? What tools can he use that are primarily dream-related?

And the big question:
Does Kirby appear in this game?

Ohh, I like that. :] I'll have to keep it in mind. I guess the dream world/ dark world is kinda similar, huh? I'll have to think it through a little more.

Would it be totally lame if I had the Zora area freezing again? I want to make a snowy area but I feel like 1. it wouldn't fit and 2. it's already been done. Would that be lame?

It wouldn't be terrible, but it would be sort of annoying. Like "Oh, the Zoras are suffering from the cold. AGAIN." It was done in Ocarina and it was done in Twilight :P. It'd be nice if you could expand on the Zora's culture in some way... there doesn't seem to be a lot of diversity with them. Why don't you use your imagination and see if you can mix something new into the Zora tribe? Majora's Mask had rock music and pirate conflicts... maybe you could come up with something to make the Zoras less boring? A group of radical Zora pirates, maybe? If you're situating them in a lake, it'd be best to steer away from the nautical theme, I guess. Maybe you could expand on their fishing culture? Maybe put Lake Hylia underground, and give the Zoras a cave-exploring theme? Or, you could go extra crazy and give them a bog or a swamp, and mix something like will-o'-the-wisp into it? Maybe even Acid Rain?

Anything but ice XD.

Perhaps you could have it dry out due to a curse or just a serious problem? :D That'd be awesome.

^^ Agree. But they sorta did that in OoT... by drying up most of Lake Hylia. Still, YES you could put then in a traveling, nomadic band of Zora survivors searching for waters to call home.

How about there's a monster in the temple/dungeon/whatever that produces poison which is fatal to zora's?

I think I may do a combination of all these ideas. After Hoffy posted, I decided I would do a swamp. With that swamp comes two other maps. There is an underwater community for the Zoras and then they also have a home underneath the rocks in some caves similar to their abode in OoT. :] The water in the swamp is going to be green and unhealthy for the Zoras so you could consider that poisonous and a monster in the dungeon is a practical cause of that. :] So, as I previously said, their race is in danger. They've formed an alliance with the mermaids and asked them to give a mermaid tail to only that one person who they believe can save the Zoras and, in turn, once you attain the tail, the head mermaid asks you to help the Zoras who live south of them. And I could definitely put a small tribe of Zoras on a mini island looking for a new home. I already have to expand the map because the mermaids don't fit. Might at well throw another few islands on there. :] Thanks guys.

Poison? OoA already did that. And so did Majora's Mask, really. But adding the Mermaids is a nice twist. Perhaps the "Mermaids" are really Zora/Hylian hybrids..? Eww, but possible.

That sounds great!
But like Miles said, the poison was already done in MM and I think in Twilight. :P
Maybe the Lake isn't poisonous at all, just to dirty and mucky to swim in, maybe
it used to be a spring the Gerudos before they left for more land, which Link could
use an Item or a spell to purify the mucky waters thus turning it to a hot spring which
opens up 2 new entrenches to Lake Hylia and Mermaid's Lair.

Oh, and heres another, let's say the princess of the Mermaids was ill, dieing even, and they all thought it was a curse put upon them from the Zoras, which the main villain of the Story
tells them. And they believe because he also says he's the chosen one(showing them his triforce).
But Link proves them wrong by turning the swamp into a hot spring, and curing the princess with the Hot Spring water, thus proving he is the true Hero chosen by the Gods due to his "good deeds" and courage.

Link obtains this Item via the "Swamp's" Boss fight. And once you cure the princess, you get
the Item you needed from the start. Wow! That sounds easy huh...no, not really, the Zoras
have a even bigger part in this...right, Sprite Collector?

Well it's just poisonous to the Zoras. Or just dirty. Haha. Which ever. Either way, they can't live in it. I'm working on the swamp now. Here's the majority of the tile set so you guys can get an idea of the color. Also guest starring in this tile set, the fabulous and ever growing great fairy! Say hello folks! She's a work in progress.

TGC: Well I wanna keep the Zoras and the mermaids as allies. But, I could use part of your idea. When you're finally able to visit the mermaids, rather than battling the head one for the tail, she'll have you escorted to the Zora lake. When in turn you save them and defeat whatever is in the dungeon, you're escorted back to the island by the same mermaid and given the tail. I like that idea. :] And I love love looove the Zoras. My name is always Zora when I play because of it was the first thing in a Zelda game I ever saw. So, they get special treatment and three maps. Hahaha.

Great Fairy... Erm, yeah, okay...

Well, speaking of Boss battles... What are the 8 (or so...) objects that Link's trying to get this time? "Essences of Dreams"? Triforce Shards? Magical Turnips? What?

Magical turnips sounds like a brilliant idea. Haha.

Hm. I don't know yet. I don't think it could be Triforce shards because that's still safe. At least that's what I'm thinking. It's just losing power because of all the chaos throughout Hyrule. I don't want it to be like.. essences because what exactly would the essence of a dream empower? So I'm not sure what you'll be collecting. I guess I'd have to figure out the bad guy and what exactly he's doing before I made that decision. Haha

Sooo~ The swamp is 3/4 of the way done. I'll probably post the first Zora map within the next hour. :]

Update: So, here is the first of the three Zora maps. This is the swamp which is the only part you'll see on the overworld map. The second is an underwater section and the third is in the caves where the few Zoras that remain live. The caves haven't been infected by the swamp muck yet and I'll be tiling that next. :] Comments and ideas are always welcomeee.

I like ;)  Also the great fairy is looking good, just make sure to give here a cool fountain to live in like the ones in OOT. And about what you need to collect, why not just 8 good dreams that the bosses have stolen.
EDIT: Forgot to say the cave tiles look amazing, in game might I suggest an overly that makes it look like water is being reflected onto them, like the zoras domain map you posted O So long ago
