Suggest some more. My friend has failed me, saying he reads manga. He suggest GTO to me and ilhimsm. Can be romance, funny, action, what the !@#$% ever, as long as it is <50 episodes long.

Ghost Hunt. Brilliant manga, slightly less brilliant anime. It's a shōjo, though, so don't be surprised if there's a bit of ... that kind of stuff.

Mobile Suit Gundam (and Z Gundam and ZZ Gundam plus all the other UC Gundams) The older they are, the more episodes they have but it tops at 50 (actually, 49 I think O_O) Most of the other series in the... series are like 13 episodes, 6 episodes... And then you have the other Gundams like G.Gundam and Gundam Wing...

Anyhow, if you're alright with weird nudity, Zeorymer of the Heavens... was partially enjoyable. It's four episodes long so yeah...

Currently watching RahXephon which is pretty weird but at least you have some action... If you liked Evangelion but were disappointed by it, watch RahXephon.

I've heard Gear Fighter Dendoh is pretty good but I haven't started it yet.

Suffice to say, these are all robot shows.

I recommend FLCL and Gantz, I have never finished Tenu Tenge and Samurai Champloo because of lazyness.. and erm I haven't started Lucky Star.. I just want to see why people edit that video.. <-<.

But yeah Gantz and FLCL worth it.

Fullmetal Alchemist - One of my all time favorite animes I suggest the Japanese version but the english was done almost as perfectly as the japanese
Detective Conan - Wanna know how good this show is? Its been running since 1996 has had 504+ Episodes, 12 Movies and is still going

Motherfucking Kaiji.  7% gambling, 93% manly tears.  Also Gurren Lagann.  Epic-est thing ever created.

I also suggest Code Geass.  I was skeptical at first (I thought it was Death Note with robots) but its really pretty sweet.

I can't believe I didn't see Cowboy Bebop in anyone's list. Are you people mad? By the way, I know you said you wanted less than 50 episodes, but Fullmetal Alchemist is only 51 episodes, and you would be seriously missing out if you passed on it.

So yeah, I recommend:

Cowboy Bebop
Fullmetal Alchemist
Berserk
Gantz
Trigun

I don't believe I missed anything there. Also, if you haven't, watch Firefly. Not an anime, I know, but that certainly doesn't stop it from being the greatest television series ever. Plus, only 14 episodes long.

Yay Trigun fans, though the manga has a better story, better art, and basically it's just better in every possible way, HA!

Last Exile is awesomeness.

I agree here with pretty much everything. The FMA anime is butchered trash. The manga is amazing and unique, while the anime is forced Shounen !@#$%. I was a bit disappointed by Berserk, personally.

I only gave 5 stars to series I can go back and watch over and over again like you with Elfen Lied. 4 stars is equally good but they are more of a one time thing and 3 stars is check out the first couple episodes before you download the whole thing. 2, and 1 stars aren't even worth mentioning.

I know other people have mentioned some of these but yeah. That's all the animes I have watched that you haven't in the length that you wanted. My ratings as well and links to wiki pages.

Trigun <3 Best suggestion on here. But uh, Mahoromatic, you might wanna check that one out Aaron. It's kind of a comedy, action type-ish Anime, but meh go for it.
