We got Mario Party 8 today. So far me and my brother have played around 3 hours. It's an awesome game. The minigames use the Wiimote very good. Although one thing i don't like is that when you hit the dice block it feels more like a delayed button press.

Also i don't like that the Single Player story mode, doesn't actually have a story, or a story mode that i know of. You play some thing called the Battle Star Arena, you basically play against 1 CPU player by going around a map they pick and collecting coins so you can get a star. It has an objective you have to do to win. Say like Collecting 50 coins and getting a star first, buying 2 stars first, etc.

I don't really notice any graphical improvements, although Mario Party isn't known for it's Extreme Grafix.

Doesn't need to die, but it does need to grow up. I like the games and all, and I'm sure the Wii controls are a step in the right direction, but they're all basically the same now. What they need is a real 1p mode, some online play, and maybe a few more tweaks to the formula.

Nonethless I do want to try 8 despite the less than stellar reviews it's been getting.

Well, the one player mode was revamped >.>

*cough*

It would be fun to have Online play, but Nintendo seems to be waiting for Pokemon BR for it's first online title in the US.

One day, I got mario party 2. Awesome game. Then, knowing how good 2 was, I got mp4 - and in comparison it sucked. Since then, the series has gone down hill pretty much. Not that I've played 8, but I hope it's not going to try and rely on the wii controls.

I have Mario Party 1, and enjoy it very much. Mario Party 8 is not on my list of things to waste money on.

I trust your judgement Fishy, so I might pick it up.  I haven't owned a mario party since Mario Party 4 however, and I rented six once... *shudder*

MP6 was an abomination.  It seems like mario's voice gets higher every game.

Well, we've loved all of them so far so our judgement might be a little tainted.

You may want to rent it first >.>

I had Mario party 3, and played a lot of Mario Party 7 with my sister.  Not much of a challenge, since she's 9.  Or maybe she's 10 now.  The mini-games were fun, true, (HEY LOOK! THERE'S A MARIO PARTY 8 COMMERCIAL ON TV NOW!) but single player fun was limited.  How many mini games does it include, anyway?  Unlocking them and learning to play the new games is always really fun.

Well I don't know. The game is getting mixed reviews... I've seen 9/10s and 5/10s. I was thinking about picking it up but I'm still not sure. How good is the game? Is it really good?

Otherwise I'll just wait for a Mario Party with online-ness, or I'll just wait for the price to come down on this.
