Zelda: The Lost Dreams (Put up a test)
« on: September 29, 2006, 06:44:55 pm »
No, this is not going to be a full game! (I get asked that a bit to much)

Here is a nice test file from rotation with mouse (bow and arrow has been removed from this version for a small bug I need to fix)

http://www.johngames.com/games/test0.0.0.6.zip

note: if it is missing a file (which it should not as I tested it) please alert me

extra note: if you see garbage in front of a black blakcground then press enter, I think I forgot to include the font now..

Screen shots are being redone in .png

Today (sunday) I made a small level for a bunch of kids, they enjoyed it but they just liked it for the musac =P and them finding the "pyramid"

I think it's pretty nice, but you should change the movement a bit. Like, when you press right, he moves to right, not rotates.
But so far, it's pretty nice

Nice model =) Its nice to see you finally have something new John =)

I cant download the demo today, but I can tomorrow (download limit VERY close - End today).

Edit: Meh, couldnt resist. Nice demo - Camera, Head Movement, all worked like WW's. I also see you use OpenGL - Is it possible to have it run on another OS then?

The model was a steal from windwaker but I improved some aspects of it for computer gaming.

Yes, the engine has pre-built compatibility with apple and Linux if so compiled.  I will, however, be switching to the ogre render engine which will allow directs for windows and openly for other operating systems.

At first I couldn't believe that you're actually using WW-Link as a model! Wow, very nice. I'd love to see more. As for the latest demo, is it possible to do anything for proceeding? (Like, is that a switch back there? That red thing?) - Edit: Nevermind, I figured out to press shift. XD
(Also, the camera is kind of awkward... it should stay behind Link, or at least where it is, and then should be movable by will - with the arrow-keys for example. Maybe this is rather hard to program, but I'd like to see it in the game. :) )

Very nice, my only problem is the camera, the angle gets rather awkward. Maybe you could make it more like the tWW camera?

Nice someone is doing WW style.
Any storyline or lead in( I would prefer a lead in so not to spoil it)

I can't see the poll, but.. I think you could make it as in GTA, so you move the cam with your mouse (with collision-detection) and also use the mouse-keys for something (e.g. the sword and an item). That'd be sweet.

First of all, nice choice of music, I like it a lot! :D Second, movement is good, but you shouldn't allow Link to move forward when I'm pressing right or left. Instead, try to make him go to the right direction while playing the forward animation.
It plays well on my Windows XP, not slowdowns whatsoever, good work!

Very nice! I see you have changed the way Link walks, it's now a lot better! Keep it up! You could still work on the camera position, IMO it's too far away from Link, you should place it closer.

Other than that, you should use real Wind Waker textures, I'm in posession of the original textures, but I don't know how to convert them to .png or .tga, I'll just ask cb if he could help with that.

All textures are from windwaker since I learned how to "go through" the wind waker game with some success.

linkthemaster:  There is not much of a story.. but I do have a good zelda esque start :-[

Added v 0.0.0.5 WITH arrows ;)

I have tested the game and there is only one bug

When in arrow mode, you can't move down.

Apart from that very good!
