What's that supposed to mean? I could be 'funny' as AVGN, all I'd have to do is post a vid calling a game any combination or variation of swear words. Spoony makes all kinds of different references to other movies and games, and relies on his wit to make things that are genuinely funny.

He's implying that maybe for once, you should go a topic without forcing your opinion on others. AVGN is quite popular, and so is SpoonyOne, they're both great as far as popularity goes. And just for you, I will back that up.. do you know how to back up your posts, Swiftu? AVGN's dvds sold out the first day they were released. He was one of the highest subscribed youtubers. Just a quick question, who is the SpoonyOne? Is he that guy who tries to not be biased about his gamer reviews? Or is it that one aussy who hates just about everything. You know, sort of like trolling almost every post on this forum? Liking a couple on rare occasions but generally hates just about everything except your own !@#$%. Yeah, I think I've heard of him. He's actually pretty funny when he trolls. But he's not doing it because he hates everything, he's simply pointing out only the bad aspects of things. It's obvious, nobody in the world could possibly be this serious about hating just about everything. A couple times I've seen the SpoonyOne post some things he liked, but he was still trying to be negative. AVGN and the SpoonyOne are similar since they both make video reviews on games that they hate. AVGN does older, classic, retro games. And he does his reviews in a style where he's acting out as if the AngryVideoGameNerd is an actual guy. Hence, the reason why you always see The Rolling Rock in the AVGN videos and why he always makes !@#$% jokes. He does a good job with always coming up with ways to introduce the joke. They sometimes are repetitive, but they're still funny. You know, Swiftu, I dare you to go at least one day where you do not troll at all. The SpoonyOne and AVGN both did their times where they didn't troll. The SpoonyOne likes Guitar Hero III, AVGN likes Super Mario Bros 3 for the NES.

Originally he didn't want to make a DVD, a bunch of his fans requested em I believe. I know, that it is kind of dumb to sell a joke video review to people.. but hey, they wanted it to be sold in the first place.

This sucks, and I was just watching his TMNT game review on Sunday. Anyway, AVGN is awesome and I find his reviews to be cool and entertaining. Seeing how he makes his own movies, this gives him experience with acting and stuff.
The irate gamer sucks balls. My friends and I watched one of his videos and it was pretty much a complete knock off with the intro and the attitude as well. AVGN is way better.
That sucks how his account got suspended. I found the reason why on Wikipedia. All his videos were removed as well as being suspended.
EDIT: Meh, he's going to do something about his older videos that were on YouTube anyway. He even got a bunch of e-mails concerning the suspension.

I just started watching AVGN 2 days ago and, yes I love his show.
Besides the immature !@#$% he says and the very occasional "ass" "!@#$%" he has some very good points (like the door on the Atari 5200).

I don't know about you guys (as the saying goes, anyway; I know exactly what you guys think), but I don't see how Swiftu was forcing his opinion on anyone. I'm not sure when it was required to state that it was an opinion, but really guys, you're smarter than that.
Anyway, I never liked AVGN. As Swiftu said, excessive swearing doesn't make a reviewer funny, and really, he's far too biased to be trustworthy.

I prefer to look up reviews or ask friends. If a review show isn't entertaining, I tend to not watch it as reviewers are very biased (so are friends and people who type up reviews, but meh).

I think the problem that most of you have is that even if just unconsciously, you expect his reviews to be serious.
His reviews aren't serious. The games he reviews are about 20 to 30 years old. So it doesn't really matter what he says because nobody is going to buy these games or even has chances of being able to buy them. I mean, his first review WAS just a joke-thing he made for his friends.
I admit though, sometimes, especially recently, he just started to swear randomly and his constant "I'd rather drink this out of that anus"-lines have become really annoying, but all in all, I still enjoy his little "show". It's really not THAT bad.
Most of his fans are idiots though. Such is life. Things get famous, morons start loving it, and instantly it's cool to hate it. Might not be the exact case with this here since even I agree with the flaws that you people stated, but I see some similarities.

The people that don't find him funny are saying "He just swears and gets laughs that way." Actually, that was only in his earlier videos. The new ones he barely swears more than any average person, except the one running-gag of having a ridiculous swear at one point, such as "I'd rather shove my head up a unicorn's ass." He doesn't constantly repeat it, making it funny.

Simply swearing a lot does not make something funny, but thankfully the AVGN is generally a well written and well produced "show". A lot of his observations are very clever, and being an aspiring filmmaker myself, I can appreciate the effort he puts into editing his clips. The montages, the "host segments", and the funny use of repetition (see the Silver Surfer episode for a great example) all make for a pretty original show.
I also enjoy that he is in character as it makes it more than a simple review, but rather a showcase of acting talent. It's also evident that James really knows his pop culture and I'm always impressed by his references and general movie/game knowledge. The only downside? I'm not a huge fan of most of the over-the-top "guest appearances". Some are fun, but recently they've taken up too much time when I'd rather see him picking apart crappy games.

For some reason, YouTube saw his videos and decided to make him a YouTube partner. All he does is rip-off other reviewers. There used to be tons of videos showcasing this, but whenever someone posts a video calling him out on it with proof, the IrateGamer has their videos removed for "Copyright Infringement."
