Started the process of building the engine for my new game... testing the tile edge detection.
Beware programmer graphics!

Also, probably worth noting that you can have 9 different tiles in a square and they'll all tile correctly :)

So...about that Charizard skin...

Agreed, it looks really nice. Not overdone.

Biggest annoyance for me is still having to use the phone to rebattle, rather than the vs seeker type thing they have in a few of the games.

So, after searching for hours on end some months ago, I found a program that does exactly what I wanted in terms of making a standard instrument to use with this game and more. I now have exact rips of every sound from Minish Cap, and exact midi data too, which means combining these two together, you can replicate the music from Minish Cap exactly. It even ripped all the sounds and instruments into a soundfont file, with loop points and everything, and midi loop points too which show up in FL Studio at least.
So over the next couple of months I'll work on using the midi data to clean up and arrange the soundfont exactly as it should be, which will then be required to be used in the music for this game. You can also use the soundfont to get all of the sounds from Minish Cap ever.

Was feeling a bit stressed, needed to relax, so.. chillstep

The bass gives a smooth massage (depending on sound system) while the reverb and stuff helps to relax.. ahhhh XD

Audio / Re: Looping sound
« on: October 22, 2012, 01:48:24 am »
Well, what you do is load up the first part in your game, start playing that, then have some code that checks if the end of the first song has been reached yet. If it has, start playing the looped part. And I'm not talking about external tools. You want to use a DLL or extension to have your game load the music files when someone plays it. It'll also decrease loading times and filesize of the executable, never put mp3/ogg files inside the game :P

The best way to loop a track is to have two files, the start up to the point where the loop starts, and then segue straight into a different file of the part that loops.
Yep, this. If you're using GM, I'd suggest looking at an extension or DLL that can play mp3/ogg from a file. Usually these have the ability to read the current position of the song, so when it gets to the end of the 'intro' file it starts playing the main one in a loop mode (which is also usually provided).

Dude, thanks for sharing this! Incredible!
No worries, I bought it the instant I heard this. And this demo video doesn't even have the opening theme, which is one of the most amazing ones imo.

I dunno, we don't use them over here. Our equivalent is AV cables (red, white, yellow) which are essentially the same thing as component, or HDMI.
That's composite. Everyone has that also. Component cables offer a better picture and have one cable per colour (RGB) plus the white and red for left and right sound. I'm pretty sure you can get them.
Ah okay, I didn't really know the difference cause I've never used the other. Don't think we ever had a TV or DVD player with component input.

From where are you?
Australia, so we use PAL, but I don't think there's much difference now that we've switched to digital stations.

Cheers star! Yeah, that part is a bit messy, I wasn't actually going to put any of the dub bits in at all but I can see what you mean by them needing to be brought out more.

I was listening to a dubstep playlist the other day, and these two songs decided to play after each other:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1VlFvautrQ" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1VlFvautrQ</a><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw</a>

Of course, the similarities were clear instantly, so I decided to mash them up!

Also, I've made a nice update to my site, all cleaned up and everything :D

Skip to 2:30 and listen for a bit.

I actually have one that's in a mix. It's slightly slower than this. The slower tempo and pitch makes it feel like the song describes how it's like driving through a bright city at night. I love those types of songs.
This reminded me of much of Chicane's music, have you heard of him?

And I do like that first person shooter song Frozen(flame? I thought it used to be fire :P)!

To add to this, I have noticed sometimes when typing out a post it decides to skip characters that I've typed, as though it's freezing up periodically. Only on here too.

The next thing I'd point at is the unread PM favicon DICKBUTT, but unlikely since you didn't say it was across the entire site.
I've only been having the problem since this, I think.

That is so hot geem :D

In all seriousness, good work on fixing things up and keeping the downtime low.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of his username like that XD

But yeah, nice going. Didn't notice anything, probably cause I was sleeping :P
