Title: [3ds Max] Camel :)
Post by: a Hint of Lime on July 29, 2009, 05:48:56 pm
Took me an hour or two-- I haven't made a model in months, so I'm kinda rusty.

Made it somewhat low-poly, then used a little meshsmooth on it.
NEWER

I plan on working on it a big more, then unwrapping + texturing.

Comments and Criticism would be great :)

Looks great. But doesn't a camel have two humps instead of one.

Do a quick Google Images search for "Camel" and you'll see that camels sometimes have one hump, sometimes have two.  I just decided to do one :)

EDIT: And thanks btw :)

They're two different species, to be more exact.  The number of humps isn't random.

The model looks really good, except the feet look weird.

Lulz, I didn't know that they were different species-- good to know.

And thanks, and roflmao-- yeah, just noticed that.  They looked less retarded before I put on the meshsmooth, but I'm too lazy to go and fix them now.  I'll do it later :P

In English you call both species 'Camel'. Hmm, I learned something new again. In dutch you have two entirely different words for them.

2 humps -> kameel (Camelus bactrianus)
1 hump -> dromedaris (Camelus dromedarius)

Yeah, same in french. We got the 'chameau' with 2 humps and the 'dromadaire' with one.

The back end seems off some how.  It almost seems like it has no ass.  Dunno.  That and the legs.  Otherwise, not too bad.  I can't do organic stuff worth a crap.

I fiddled with the ass, feet, neck, etc, and smoothed it a bit more.

First, the silhouette, cause I think I got it down pretty good:

Keep the c+c coming, but I think I'm gonna begin unwrapping now :)

I'd tap that ass.

Alot better. :) Feet are now feet. Yay.

So, I'm incredibly lazy and don't really want to unwrap/texture this... So does anybody have any ideas for my next model? (I'm itching to make more)

I'm very indecisive and selectively creative, so SUGGESTIONS WANTED.

Tssk, Tssk. How will you ever get things done?

I'm very indecisive and selectively creative, so SUGGESTIONS WANTED.
How about a wolf, or a hawk.

I'm not really sure-- I RARELY get anything done. I just *barely* got through highschool.

I'll give one of those a try tomorrow, thanks for the ideas :)

I actually made one of those once. I must be somewhere in the graphics board. You should make it and then we can compare them. :D

I can even get you blueprints if you want them.

I personally really dig it, nice job :D This makes me want to get back into 3D art again.
