Entertainment / Re: Woo wii motion plus for $25

FISSURE, the cost of putting in the additional parts that Motion+ adds at launch would have made the Wiimote more expensive ANYWAY. Probably about the same increase in cost. And with the boost in performance, I don't think anyone will be unduly stressed about it. Plus (no pun intended) I've seen this thing retailing for $20. Granted, its only a reduction of $5, but whatever. At least they're not selling an entirely new controller. *coughhackwheeze*

When some people get bored, they experiment with drugs. I experiment with Photoshop.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, you can use the design.

Thanks hotpiebob. I'll have some new screenshots up soon, within the next week or so demonstrating some slightly more complete areas. Hopefully I'll have enough material for a gameplay video in the not too distant future ^_^

One of my friends actually bought the game and 2 months worth of play time. I haven't really touched it since other than to look at how it's built.

First fully textured room of the "Bed of the Sun", one of the dungeons from my OOT ROM mod. It's just a teaser, so I'm not showing that much :P Also, actors haven't been positioned yet ^_^

Heh, hopefully this should be an equally as enjoyable experience to play through :D I'm hoping to make it quite a big game and work in some interesting ideas ^_^

Right, to answer your questions...

Yes, the movement is smooth. It's exactly like the original console games.
Sword and shield work, backflips and side jumps work.
Enemies? Sure. All present and accounted for.
As to the maps, I'll be using a lot of pre-existing textures but I will be making custom ones.

As to the engine...well it's running on the original OOT engine ;P This is a ROM modification, so it's about as true to the original N64 games as you can get, gameplay wise. I'll be releasing a patch fairly soon once at least the beginning areas are playable. There's a lot of work to be done yet.

Insofar as story goes, there is one but I'm not going to disclose too much of it at this point. I'll say this much though, you'll recognize a lot of locations at least in part. This will be the leading game in a series :3

Some new development screenshots are on the first post, ignore the current objects visible in the screenshots, they're just the default objects generated in the map file.

I. AM. LISTENING. SHIGGY. *eats hair while waiting impatiently for details*

Also, consider the possibility that the 'new character' is a sort of representation that the player can 'become the sword'. That or it's the sword's spirit.

EDIT: And of course Link will have a sword. *eyeroll* Swordplay mechanics have been mentioned, so I think he'll kind of need to have one for them to work. Unless his new Master Sword is, you know, made of air?

EDIT 2: Two thoughts occurred to me. One horrid, one interesting. LINK'S SWORDPLAH TRAINING. And the other one was that Link seems to be standing between the Master Sword and something.

And behold, the consoles were filled with FPS and (INSERT PARTY GAME HERE) programmed by people who don't know how to write for the hardware.

It sounds good thus far, the instruments are a little grainy and flat at times though.

I posted the logo and one of the object files, but now it's actually in the game properly.

The servants of chaos have embittered the land
White knights protect darkening hearts
A twisted world awaits a fate
That the few who stand will spin

NEWS:
-June 21 2009
-Another additional screenshot, this time a teaser from one of the rooms of the 'Bed of the Sun' dungeon. In addition, I have changed the game's title to 'The Shattered Realm', after critique has been given on the original title many times.

-June 16 2009
-Well, a new batch of screenshots can be seen now, this time developmental shots from one of the game's dungeons. At present the whole thing isn't completely textured, but work on that will soon follow. Enjoy :D

-June 5 2009
-Work continues on the importer, making adjustments to ensure that the imported maps function correctly. Work has begun on 2 dungeons, screenshots will be available soon. This first post will be updated to a better format once additional content has been made.

-Well, it's been a while ^_^ Recently, thanks to the hard work of one of the field's brightest programmers, I have at last been able to import an entirely custom map into Ocarina of Time, and it is fully functional insofar as the landscape is perfectly imported. There are a few slight errors in the vertex colours, but it's mostly finished.

It has taken quite some time to arrive at this point, and it is a joy to finally see it realized. With the ability to create custom maps, the Majora's Reprisal project can proceed.

I'll download and have a test play of this later on, but the tiling change you've shown looks a great improvement over the original.

The bloom is perhaps a bit heavy. In the main, you'll want the bloom to accent bright areas and so give darkened areas more definition. At the moment, it's just making everything look washed out.
