I think PH and ST were only okay Zeldas, 'cause the developers were too fixated on the touchscreen features. The 3DS, however, has 3D as feature, is capable of better graphics and has analog controls.
Hopefully, they use these features
in order to make a better Zelda handheld game.
I think they should make a 3D aLttP remake. :)

The text box looks nice, but it still uses way too many colors. So, you should reduce the amount of colors. Furthermore, the  box looks a little bit too angular. But it definitely fits with MC-style. Sure, green is a risky color, but you could recolor it, e.g. you could use the colors of the text box in MC.  ;)

Thank you!  :)

I used your suggestions and added some detail and I think it already looks better.

Well, I'm trying to make a MC style version of the Snow Pine tree in FSA:
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090531012216/zelda/images/2/25/Frozen_Hyrule.png

However the result looks strange...  :-\

Are there any suggestions how to improve the sprite?

I'm really disappointed, too. BK and BT are still on 2nd and 3rd place of my Favorite Games. And I was really waiting for Banjo Threeie. And suddenly Rare was bought by Microsoft. Since that event I really missed the 3D-Jump'n'Runs of Rare. Then there was this awesome first trailer of Banjo Kazooie: N&B. However it was a really disappointing game, because I was waiting for a 3D-Jump'n'Run like the old BK games. Instead it became a vehicle game.
But I was still hoping for the real Banjo Threeie to be made.
And now they make some s***ty Wii Sports clones.  :(

Now I have lost all hope in Rare.  :'(

Awesome photos. I really like the concept of your photos and you definitely succeeded.  ;)

Offtopic: omg you made the effort of using  "ä" in every "Doppelgänger" in your post.  :o
I never use it since I have an American keyboard and I use "ae" instead.

Graphics / Re: MC: Deku Link
« on: March 27, 2010, 06:16:47 pm »
The new one looks definitely better than the old one, but it still needs a lot of work.
The face of the Deku Link is awesome, but the cap looks weird. You could use the cap of the MC Link and edit it a little bit.
Furthermore the body isn't that good yet. It just looks too much like the MC Link body, but a Deku isn't that big, a Deku is thin and small.
You have to create completely new body for the Deku instead of edit already existing ones.
However, nice work.

The Happy Salesman looks good.

The Skullkid uses the MC Link body, too. But like the Deku the Skullkid isn't that big. So I wouldn't use the MC Link body. I would rather use the body of a child in MC and edit the sprite a little bit, so that it looks like the Skullkid body.

You'll need the bigger pot for using more than 5 ingredients.
I can't remember where I found it, but with the bigger one you can use up to 15 ingredients.
I think I got it while helping someone in the town...

However, Tingle RPG is really an awesome game. ;)

I, too, am into metal. However, my favorite sub-genre would have to be Folk/Viking metal. I am also heavily into Melodic Death, Power, Symphonic, Progressive, and more. I know you probably wouldn't want my life story, but I started at Nu-metal, branched to Death/Black, then eventually got to Folk.

lol. That's happening to me right now. Every thing started with Nu-Metal, then branched to Black Metal and at the moment I hear only Symphonic Metal, Doom Metal and Black Metal.
The first Extreme Metal song I liked and because of that song I branched to the harder kinds of Metal was Svartby - Moder av alla Haxor.
That's really funny, because I got to know this song in a trailer of a Zelda Classic Quest.
However, I also listen to a little bit of Folk Metal and Death Metal.

I think in a few weeks my Top 10 will look like this:

1. System of a Down (SoaD will be my favorite band forever. ;))
2. Rammstein (Industrial Metal - German lyrics)
3. Dorn (Symphonic Death Metal/Doom Metal - German lyrics)
4. Svartby (Black Metal/Folkmetal - Swedish lyrics)
5. Dimmu Borgir (Black Metal/Dark Metal - English lyrics)
6. Agalloch (Doom Metal/Dark Metal - English lyrics)
7. Children of Bodom (Melodic Death Metal - English lyrics)
8. Heaven Shall Burn (Metalcore - English lyrics)
9. Ensiferum (Folkmetal/Viking Metal - English lyrics)
10. Wolves in the Throne Room (Ambient Black Metal - English lyrics)

So, the Rod of Lumina will also be like the Seed Satchel in the Oracle Series, won't it?
I think it's a great idea to have three slots for the item: One for the Wind, one for the Water and one for the Fire abilities.

Wait, are you saying the door perspective is wrong, or the door doesn't look right with the house? Considering the door is directly ripped from FSA, I can't really argue the perspective.
The same doors are used in the Cave of Flames in MC. But there is a difference between the Overworld perspective an the dungeon perspective. Also the doors are slightly different.
But you just have to edit them a little bit in order to make them fit with the perspective.

Now it seems like you're looking for something that might just be a tiny bit bad and blowing it out of proportion.
Making a mountain out of a Moldrill.... I mean mole hill. No offense Breedlove... >_>
You're totally right, but to improve a sprite you have to be a little bit critical.
In my opinion it's better to get a huge amount of suggestions for improving a sprite than getting just hundreds of "Awesomes", although the sprite isn't perfect yet.

However nice sprites, Leduardo. ;)

Yes. I already posted that there is a perspective error with the door.
Though I disagree with the perspective error of the whole house you showed in your picture, since the houses in Whittleton  are formed like that.

hmmm...
I found a few things you could improve.
(Thanks, Niek. ;))

Maybe you could make the big door a 32x32 pixel sprite instead of a 32x16 one.
So you would have to make the whole tower 16 pixels higher, but the result would look even better. So the perspective of the door wouldn't look that weird.
Furthermore I would make the walkable floor in front of the door 16 pixels wider.
So there would be more space for the tile in front of the upper door.
I would also change the green color of the floor and make it a wooden floor like it was in MM.
And I agree with Niek. You definitely have to make it suitable for a 16x16 pixel grid.

Anyway your sprites are really awesome. ;)

EDIT:

I noticed that the perspective of the upper part of the clock doesn't work.
You have to make the frame of the  upper part of the clock wider and the area above smaller.

Oh my god. This is epic. O_O

The only thing you could improve are the nearly black outlines of the clock.
In my opinion the color you used is a little bit too dark.

But this sprite is epic.

Entertainment / Favorite Music?
« on: February 28, 2010, 04:37:37 am »
I think there already were a lot of topics about music, but at the moment there isn't one.

So, which is your favorite kind of music?
Which are your Top 5 favorite bands?
Which are your Top 5 favorite songs?

I will start:

My favorite kind of music is Metal, especially Black Metal and mixes with Hip Hop.
I also listen to Symphonic Death Metal and to Rock.
Furthermore I also like Hip Hop.
I know, my taste in music is wierd.

My Top 5 favorite bands:

1) System of a Down [also Serj Tankian and Scars on Broadway]
2) Linkin Park/Xero/Hybrid Theory [also Fort Minor] (basically LP before they made Minutes to Midnight)
3) Rammstein
4) Limp Bizkit
5) Dorn

My Top 5 favorite songs:

1) Chop Suey! - by System of a Down
2) Sonne - by Rammstein
3) Blow me away - by Breaking Banjamin
4) Toxicity - by System of a Down
5) Mein Herz brennt - by Rammstein

Yeah, these are my current favorite songs. Though they will change every few days.  XD

So, which is your favorite kind of music?

Whoa, this is really awesome. There should be more MC style spriter like you. ;)
I made also a small illustration of what you could improve.

Red: As Nebeshin said, there is this small perspective error.

Green: Another problem is that the bottom of the clock is round, but the top isn't.
In MM the clock was not completely round like you did at the top of the clock.
There was one corner for every hour. However in the artworks the clock was round.
So you could use a clock like in the artworks or like in the game, but at the moment your's looks a little bit like a mix of both.

Blue: I think the transition between the blue highlighted part and the upper clock tower has too much contrast. At the upper part you used a light-gray, at the lower part you used a dark-gray and actually there isn't a real transition between the colors.

Yellow: I agree with Xiphirx. You should you use dithering. Furthermore I would recommend you to use the pattern you used for the the tower also for the top orb. In MM the orb used the design of the walls of the tower.

Anyway, nice work. ;)

@Sahittam:
Actually I asked, because I saw them before, but I couldn't remember where.
And yes, I saw them in the GM File of your canceled game.
Furthermore Brown joined after you canceled it.
So Brown lied. :(
However nice work.
If there were Lv.3 Moblins in MC they definitely would look like your red ones. ;)

@Brown:
I hope you don't do something like this again.
By the way the Moblins don't use the colors of the gold octorok.
Actually they use the colors of the blue Moblin for the golden clothes.
Anyway, don't claim work of others as your own! :(

Nice recolor. ;) I'm sure we can use it for the Lv.3 Bow Moblins. By the way, who made the red version of them? They weren't in Minish Cap, were they?

Why isn't this thread locked yet?
It doesn't matter who's right and who is not.
Threads like this one are just bad for everyone, the whole community included.
So, if there's nobody locking it it will probably become even worse.

I found a sprite sheet in my 2GB sprite folders:

However I don't have the blue colored version of the moblin.
