90 minutes of Kojima stroking himself. Enjoy watching your bad japanese movie.

Its a movie and game in one, awesome :D. As long as they are skippable and of good quality I don't have any problem with it.

The game has 9 hours of cutscenes.

And if you skip them you won't know what the !@#$% is going on.

ehh..
I think MGS is way too over the top to be taking itself seriously, I'd draw the line at 30 minute cutscenes...

30 minutes for an ending cutscene is okay. 5 to 10 tops for in game cutscenes though- 0.5 min tops for before boss battles.

IMO the Metal Gear Solid gameplay is sort of cinematic itself, with all the plot twists and such.  It wouldn't be too hard to turn it into a movie.

When I play Metal Gear, I enjoy having a break, watching long cutscenes.  90 minutes is much, but I think of it as watching a Metal Gear movie, which would pwn.

I'm not worried about it, because Kojima has never failed us. Yes, even with MGS2.

"90 minute cutscenes, note the plural"

Yes. Most likely at the beginning and end.

Anybody else read that they might not be able to fit it on 1 blu-ray :P

50GB is not enough, I love where next-gen is going. I am dying here waiting for FFXIII, Versus, Agito, etc.

Excellent.

It's time for video games to grow up. Story-driven games are the greatest of them all. Who else teared up a bit at the end of FFX? It was because the story was so believable (in a fantasy way, I mean) and you had grown to attached to the characters. If it was a simple story like a zelda-type one, you wouldn't even have felt like you'd accomplished anything.

After I beat any epic FF game (basically any after the 16-bit era) I get that strange feeling of accomplishment.. The same feeling I got after watching Return of the King, Schindler's List, and Grave of the Fireflies.. You feel like you're really experienced something that moves you.

MGS4 will have this. I expect it'll be the epitome of the feeling too.

Last game I can remember getting that feeling with was... Tales of Symphonia for GCN. However it's spelled.

Yeah, god help us if we get attached to a game that doesn't have its story spoon-fed to us in hours of cinemas.

Perhaps some people enjoy the feel of games and not as much the story?

Who says you can't have both? Games don't have to be so simple and childish.

I'm not talking trash about zelda, but it's stories aren't exactly thrilling..
