Zelda + Fable = ???

I've always wondered why no one's done this. Here's my story idea thus far. (( Note: I just came up with this idea yesterday...))

"Hyrule has seen peace for many years. During this time, the Hylian people progressed and new ways of life were formed. However, this peace that the Hylians loved so much was threatened by a tribe of warriors. The people heard stories of this tribe, and were terrified of their might. They prayed to the gods for a hero...

"As if to answer their prayers, an adventurous young man came to Hyrule. The people could sense that he was a person with a destiny of greatness. Maybe, his destiny is to save Hyrule from this evil tribe...?"

Some of the unique gameplay elements include crimes, interchangeable armors and weapons, and experience all mixed in with the Zelda feel we know and love, along with a Fable-esque good/evil engine. That's right: you can make Link evil! You can gain renown levels to become more popular and accept different quests. People will act and talk to you according to your renown level and alignment on the good/evil scale. Cool!

I'm taking "applications" right now, which can be sent via e-mail, PM, or by simply posting "yeah, I'll help." ([Please state what you are helping with!]) So far, here's what I plan I'll need:

  -A deticated programmer (besides myself)
  -Lots of graphics (for the different armors in each level of Link's alignment...currently planning for 5 armors, 5 evil, 5  good, and 1 middle alignment.*)
  -Sound effects for different crimes, and traditional sound effects
  -Level designer
  -A good story writer to help improve

For all who wish to help, thanks for participating in one of the most ambitious Zelda fangames ever made! For those who like the idea, but don't want to help, thank you for your support, and please advertise. For the n00bs that come in and say "haha lolxd this is t3h st00pid idea hahaha go f yourself croniaN..." Well, STFU.

* Don't worry! No one person will have to make the sprite sets! The sprites are going to be based on the ALTTP format, and all you have to do is edit them! But please, no slackers. You need to be skillful!

I personally can't imagine Link being evil. I either have no imagination or the concept sucks. Probably both. If anything, do it MGS2 style. You aren't playing as the main hero, but seeing the main hero's story from another character's eyes, if you get what I mean. Except in this case you can be evil. >__>

I've always wanted to make Link evil. But he doesn't have to be evil. Remember that. He can be good, bad, or in between. Whatever his good/evil alignment is determined by what the player does!

Which is what makes this game unique. You can make Link what you want. You can experiment. No two player's games will be alike! Absolute freedom from Zelda's set-in-stone storyline. The story develops along with you, depending on what you do.

Sounds kinda like morrowind actually.

It sounds like Fable more than anything else. There wasn't a good/evil alignment in Morrowind, was there?

The thing about Morrowind was good and evil and all those things depended on the player's imagination rather than what the game laid out for you, which, imo, is the ultimate freedom in video games(Even though Morrowind kinda got boring after a while). Fable is more...THIS IS WHERE YOU ARE, THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE, THESE ARE YOU OPTIONS, even though it offered more freedom than most other games. But this topic isn't about that...so...>__>

Uuuuhm I came up with an idea like this months ago. My entire game Choice Of Destiny is kinda based on it. You also have quests and have to chose between two sides. Get it? Destiny...? The choice of the player is the destiny of Hyrule?

The story and idea is pretty similar to mine. And I have already been producing it for MONTHS.
You are free to assist if you like :D
But if you want your own version. Go right ahead. But its not that original anymore...

Also, what are you making it in? I, personally, use Game Maker 6.1, registered.

The Games Factory 1 and 2.

However...your idea sounds a lot like SW: Knights Of The Old Republic. Which is also where I got mine. But your story and mine look incredibly similar. You sure you didnt see my Z3 booth at all? It could be just a coincidence.

You can always take a crack at making this game. But Ive been working on mine for months and months and just got this far. It takes a sick amount of coding for something like this too work. So if your idea is so similar. Isnt it best to work together on something? Might be hard since you dont know TGF I take it. But I could always use more ideas and sprites.

Oh, if you dont want to...thats no problem at all dude :D Making your own game is always fun and dont let me stop you  ;)

Maybe the tribals have been infected with the ganon gene (or the t-virus, but lets not make it resi evil ;))

I like the concept with link go either side, I'm gonna say, reminds me of the way of the samurai, you live in a society, and you can either choose to help the good guys, the bad guys or the political guys, me I just like killing everyone to see if I can get the best swords.

Good idea, I'd like to see it executed.

Your not the only one. I've had an idea like this every summer for the last 3 years. But, your doing it better, my idea was to have everything interactable and make it so even the tinniest things would effect the storyline. (Stepping on a bug, stealling a cup)

Of course! I forgot about the make_game() function! :D
