As I've said before, I'm not that good at pixel art, just smaller sprites, so I'm requesting if someone can help me out by making a pixel art portrait to fit this box:

Based on this picture of Roam:

and this picture of Quill:

You'll get credit in my fan game I'm making called The Adventure of Roam (check my Link's Quest Forum for details on the game :D).

Well here is a start for Roam.

If you like it I will finish it. (Shading etc.)
And then maybe try Quill.

No credit needed, as it was just pretty much cleaning up one image.

It's pillow-shaded. u phail D:

Nah, just to let you know, you shouldn't "pillow-shade" sprites or pixel art.

Shading
  • Avoid pillow shading.
This is what some people have trouble with. Pillow shading is when you shade something with one colour, darkening as it goes outwards. It's messy and unprofessional, as well as not looking very realistic. Pillow shading make things look inflated like a pillow, and make them look as if they were lit from the front.
  • Choose a consistent light source.
This also troubles some people. When shading your sprite, make sure to use a consistent light source for all parts of the sprite! This is important.
  • Don't use gradients.
Gradients are ugly, unprofessional, hard to control, and unrealistic. You should avoid gradients at all times. You might think they look nice, but you can get better results without using them.

Shading
Oh yeah in fact it is pillow shaded, just change that and it'll look nice. Maybe make the upper right pixels almost white, that's for the hair.
