Entertainment / Cosplay
« on: June 12, 2009, 09:22:00 pm »
Okay, last month I posted about going to ACen in the Chicago area and talked about Cosplaying.

I just finished my Phoenix Wright Costume that I'll be wearing to GenCon09 in 2 months, and ACen'10 next year. Between my Phoenix and Yuna costumes, i thought, I cant be the only ZFGCer into cosplaying characters from video games and animes and mangas, so I started this thread to see who else is into the wacky world of Cosplaying? If so, show pics!

I'll start off:

Me as Yuna from Final Fantasy X:

Me as Phoenix Wright, Hobo, Piano-Player/Poker-Player, and Ex-Ace Attorney:

And a Reference Picture if you havent ever played the 4th Ace Attorney:

Entertainment / I Think I might be a Closet Country Fan
« on: April 19, 2009, 04:31:37 am »
All my life I've detested any kind of Country music. Yet recently with having gotten into watching Hannah Montana on Disney (Im proud to be a fan, so nyeh on you! :P) I saw the movie last night and bought the soundtrack. In it, Billy Ray sang a song that I thought sounded awesome and really was digging the tunes. So I thought I'd buy his brand new album that released last month and got to listening to it tonight when i got home and I love it. All I can think is WTF? Why did I hate on such good music for all these years?

Entertainment / Gamestop sucks
« on: March 06, 2009, 03:33:03 am »
but you all probably knew that.

In the last month, I've wanted to buy three new games, and got turned down all 3 times at Gamestop. The first was the Download Card pack for GTA4: The Lost and Damned.  They told me they sold out. So I ended up getting the MS Points online and downloaded it. I basically just wanted the free poster, lol.

Then last week I went there for the Super Street Fighter 4: Collectors Edition. They said they were sold out.  So, I drove a couple blocks to the Hastings Bookstore and they had the Collectors Edition. Strike 2 against Gamestop.

Tonight, I drove to town to get Halo Wars: Collectors Edition. I just want CE for the Mythic Map Pack in Halo 3. They told me that all the CE copies they had were Preorder reserves. !@#$%. Its a popular game, the corporate needs to realize a LOT of people are going to want it, and some live in the country and have to drive an hour out of their way to get to town. I ended up ordering HW:CE online on Amazon.com when I got home. Theres no way Im waiting 5 weeks to get the new map pack, lol.

So thats three times in one month that Gaymstop didn't get my money. That's three strikes and they are out. I'm not shopping at Gamestop anymore. Its strictly Bookstores and Online now.

Who else hates Gaymstop?

Entertainment / GTA4: The Lost and Damned
« on: February 20, 2009, 08:01:23 pm »
I dont see a topic for it, so I thought I'd start one.

Here's my experience with getting the new The Lost and Damned DLC Episode:

I drove an hour to the nearest Gamestop last night because they sell a Downloadable Pack for the new GTA4 DLC Episode. The box has Box Art that looks cool, and inside it is a GTA Poster and an insert with the code to redeem the game. The damn Gamestop was sold out, so I drove a long ways for nothing. Came home last night and got MS Points online with my CC, started the download for GTA4:TLAD and between 10PM and 12:30AM, the download speed was !@#$%. I only got to like 55% before I gave up and went to bed. Got up this morning at 7 and started it up, and it finally got done about 1PM. I've read about others who had problems with the SLOW download speed, it is afterall almost 2 gigs big.

So far, the game is great. Bikes handle a lot better than in Niko's story, and the visuals are awesome. Who else has this game? Any other similar or different stories you guys have about getting this game or any other GTA games in the past?

Graphics / Arctic Ferret's Drawing Collection
« on: January 31, 2009, 03:18:04 am »
Hi. I just wanted to show off some of my talent. I havent always done just spriting. Here's just some of the pictures I've made over the last few years. I didnt want to have to take them out of their frames and scan each individual drawing, so I took a picture of the drawing on the walls of my bedroom. Sorry about the flash from the camera in the pictures. It was unavoidable. Please enjoy.

Mater from Cars

[This was a drawing I drew for my Neice's 3rd Birthday. Cars is a really good movie.]

Kensuke (Kenny from South Park Episode Good Times With Weapons)

[Drew this one for an old friend]

Celesteka Catkiller

[This is a drawing of my first ever created World of Warcraft Character. She is since retired to a server I dont play on anymore]

Kenshin Himura

[This was drawn as a birthday gift for one of my brothers on their 18th birthday. To this day it remains my best and favorite Ink drawing portrait I've ever done]

Super Saiyan 4 Goku

[What can I say? I love Dragon Ball, Z, and GT]

Goku

[This is what is called a Needlepoint drawing that I made by sewing yarn onto a piece of Canvas. This is a fun style of art and I hope to work on another Needlepoint in the future]

Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney

[I finally got a Drawing Tablet for my computer and started trying out drawing pictures and adding color on my computer. the Ace Attorney Series is my favorite set of games on the Nintendo DS. OBJECTION!]

Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law

[Harvey Birdman is one of my favorite shows to appear on Adult Swim. I thought it'd be funny to parody the Phoenix Wright Series with Harvey doing the Finger Point, so I made this after I made the Phoenix Wright drawing.]

Lucas from Mother 3

[I was VERY happy when the Fan-made English Translation project finally finished and I was able to play Mother 3 in English, although I am faithful to the Mother Series and bought Mother 1+2 and Mother 3 Japanese cartridges on GBA from Playasia.com]

I hope you liked these pictures as much as I did making them.

Entertainment / Stupidity smacks me in the head AGAIN
« on: April 20, 2008, 04:41:10 am »
Okay, so you lose your one of your favorite video games, what do you do? I panic. ESPECIALLY when the game is on an officially declared deceased video game system. I tore my room apart last night looking for Super Mario World for GBA. Its one of my favorite Mario games, and if I lose something that close to me, I go nuts. So, on my visit to Wichita today, I stopped at a Gamestop to get a new copy (for all I knew I coulda lost it outside of home). We left Wichita tonight, and Im staying at my Uncle's house and I open up my suitcase and guess what I find? You guessed it, my copy of SMW. What REALLY pissed me off was I checked that area yesterday and couldnt find it before. I feel SOOOO stupid. I doubt Gamestop has a return policy on used games, even if I still have the receipt. so I'm out $25. Anyone else ever experienced this?

Entertainment / Wiimote Wrist-strap?
« on: March 31, 2008, 09:49:22 pm »
Heya all. I don't use the white Wiimote Wrist-straps that came with the Wiimotes. Instead I use the black Nintendo DS Wrist-strap on my Wiimotes. I do this for a little style (and I did this back when my brothers were still living at home and we had two Wii's in the house and wanted to tell the difference between each others' sets of wiimotes since they're calibrated to different systems).

I was just wondering what everyone else did with their Wiimotes? Do you use the white Wrist-strap? DS black wrist-strap? No wrist-strap? Off-brand wrist-strap? Just curious

P.S. I wish off-brand wrist-straps were easy to find, I'd REALLY like to get my hands on a red-colored Wiimote wrist-strap.

Entertainment / Tabletop RPGs
« on: November 19, 2007, 05:45:54 am »
I'm just curious how many people here like to play tabletop Role Playing Games?

A little about my RPG history (or lack thereof?) [feel free to talk about yours too]

Back before I moved out to the middle of nowhere out in the country, i'd always hang out at a hobby shop playing tcgs and saw all the guys at the RPG tables having loads of fun acting out their characters, rolling dice, you name it. I wanted to play but never got the chance before I moved out to where I live now. Anywho, so I got some friends online who were interested in doing a AIM chat Star Wars RPG session, so I bought the new Saga Edition Core Rulebook. Well, it never went through. Then my step sister came into town who I'd just met (long story) and turned out she and her boyfriend were BIG into RPGs, and they got me interested in Exalted: Second Edition while she was out here. We even got as far as to setting up a night after I moved into my own appartment that we cracked open the books and played a game. Well, she and her bf went back to where he lived in Chicago, and they promised we'd continue the game over MSN Messenger, then !@#$% happened and that didnt go well. Couple months later, a friend on AIM got me interested in trying out WoW RPG, so i got the book, and That too didnt go well. Plus its rumored the game might be discontinued. I have bad luck with RPGs so much, yet I still am fond of them and never wanna give up on trying em out.

Any of u RPGers might know of any good sites I might wanna check out or any IRC channels devoted to RPing by the book? Anywho, I wanna hear some of your stories too!  :)

Discussion / Ideas for an RPG
« on: October 27, 2007, 03:53:13 am »
And considering the section's description says "Discuss different aspects of project development and game design."  and doesnt specify video gaming or fan gaming, etc, I figure this is fair game. Tabletop RPGs have recently caught my eye and I always have these crazy cool ideas for games to make (mostly been fan games since Im into spriting). I have to say, its pretty hard when having these ideas and being the only person working on the project. It never gets done. Seriously, 99% of the projects here start out okay, then drop off the face of the earth.

Anywho, I'm rambling. Basically what Im getting at is, how many others have had some cool ideas about starting your own tabletop (pen and paper) RPG? How'd you go about working on the game, was it just you or others helping? I'm just curious because I had a cool idea, but I'm not sure if its worth it to pursue the idea or not. Thanks.

Graphics / Son Goku Artwork
« on: May 17, 2007, 01:54:14 am »
I nowhere near consider this a masterpiece. I just drew it up in about 30 minutes on my brother's graduation gift so that the wrapping paper wouldn't be blank white. So yeah, I know its not perfect, but I just wanted to show it off anyways. Also, the quality is a bit off because it was taken with a cellphone camera. Enjoy.
