On the subject of w3schools, yeah, !@#$% that. A List Apart is my go-to source for anything pertaining to web development.

And yeah, Ruby. I do love Ruby, not so much as a web platform though. PHP is my personal preference. MUCH more widely supported.

I remember back when G4 was still good, they tested the durability of Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox.  GCN survived getting smashed with a hammer and being dropped from 15 or so feet onto concrete.

To be fair, the Xbox was still in working condition at the end, it's just that the power button came off and they couldn't find anything small enough to turn it on with.

Demos tell you hi

All demos have done for me in the past is get me pumped for something ballin' before crushing my dreams with the final product. Really, I'm good with waiting for the actual game before determining whether or not its a real gem or a neatly wrapped piece of !@#$%, ala Fable III.

But yeah, Nintendo. I'll probably end up buying this simply because I'm still a Nintendo fanboy at heart.

Honestly, I think a lot of us have just grown out of fangaming, at least those of us who actually produced games reliably and regularly instead of just walking demos. There's no real solution to that. Life goes on.

Basically this. I most certainly haven't cared much for them recently. Really, I'm here for the memories.

Wait, you're surprised the game turned out to be a disappointment?

Discussion / Source has decided to start learning C#
« on: December 13, 2010, 05:42:07 pm »
Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea where to start, and since the last language I was semi-fluent in was QBASIC (trololol I'm so old)... well, you get the idea. Where does one start learning this !@#$%? Are there any good web resources for me to check out?

Many thanks.

Almost Easy. It's basically the same chord over and over. Solo's tricky, but it's doable with practice.

I like the outfit design. I wish Nintendo would be a little more creative with theirs.

Hm, would submit Elysium, but it's less done than OoS I would say.

Honestly, the only reason I would buy it is for the modding community. I would seriously love to make my own standalone game using the SC2 engine.

Warcraft Future, anyone?

The ten year old in me disagrees because !@#$% Caterpie.

But yeah, it does. I kind of want to see its evolutions. They'll probably be identical to other caterpillar Pokemon, but still.

Was it in the room with the first energy tank? If so, it's because I forgot to allow the music to loop in that particular room. Once again, laundry list. Thanks for the comment, though. =3

/late

Sounds interesting enough. Granted, it would take eons to finish (if it ever is), but it would be pretty boss in a perfect world. If you happen to be using GM, throw me a bone if you need any help. I know my way around in GM, so I can be of some use.

Okay, I'm done. Go back to... doing whatever it is you do.

Oh yeah, I know about that one. It's another item on my laundry list of things I should probably get around to fixing.  :-[

We're all familiar with each other here, so I'll forgo the formalities and jump right in. Go hard or go home.

About
Metroid Elysium is an obvious Metroid fan game in the works by yours truly. It is made in the same style as Metroid 2, only in color, and modified in some ways. At the moment, almost everything is working like it should. Some notable exceptions include:

1. Environmental hazards (spikes and lava) currently do not deal any damage. Spikes do give off the appearance, though. Issues with them are the fault of shitty collision detection that I am too lazy to fix at the moment.

2. The Morph Ball launches you slightly in the air whenever you unmorph, allowing you to reach infinite heights by spamming the C key.

3. Animations are bugged slightly, so expect Samus to run in place occasionally. Just tap one of the directional arrows to fix it.

SCREENSHOTS HOLY !@#$%
* Source would like to inform you all that these screenshots are pretty fuckin' old. They were on page 26 of his Photobucket album. Things have changed since then.

Okay, with that aside, here's the demo. Tell me what you think.
