Discussion / Source has decided to start learning C#

Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea where to start, and since the last language I was semi-fluent in was QBASIC (trololol I'm so old)... well, you get the idea. Where does one start learning this !@#$%? Are there any good web resources for me to check out?

We're all familiar with each other here, so I'll forgo the formalities and jump right in. Go hard or go home.

About
Metroid Elysium is an obvious Metroid fan game in the works by yours truly. It is made in the same style as Metroid 2, only in color, and modified in some ways. At the moment, almost everything is working like it should. Some notable exceptions include:

1. Environmental hazards (spikes and lava) currently do not deal any damage. Spikes do give off the appearance, though. Issues with them are the fault of shitty collision detection that I am too lazy to fix at the moment.

2. The Morph Ball launches you slightly in the air whenever you unmorph, allowing you to reach infinite heights by spamming the C key.

3. Animations are bugged slightly, so expect Samus to run in place occasionally. Just tap one of the directional arrows to fix it.

Anyway, having scrapped the original due to !@#$% up rather spectacularly while messing with scripts, I've decided to resurrect this little project of mine in hopes that I may actually get something done. However, before I start putting major work into the game (all progress insofar has been dedicated to perfecting various techniques: fog effects, enemy encounters, character customization, etc.), I would first like to nab a few comments and perhaps some criticism from the community at large.

"Criticism for what?" you may ask. "Criticism of the current story, planned features, and other bits of information," I respond. So, without further adieu, let's crank this !@#$% old school, shall we?

backstory...
2500 Years Before Recorded History
Prior to the age of man, the world as we know it was populated by two esteemed people groups: the elv'ena, often referred to by the slang term of "elves," and the orkari, who go by the slang term of "orcs." At the height of their power, the elv'ena and the orkari possessed vast civilizations that covered most of the land. While they weren't allies by any means, the two groups lived in peace, content with willingly ignoring the other. However, with the discovery of an energy source known as ether, relations began to crumble. Initially, the conflicts were small; for instance, two small squads of elv'ena and orkari would fight over a newly discovered ether well. However, as time progressed, these small acts of hostility turned into all out bloodshed, with innumerable losses to both sides. To this day, scholars are still unsure of which side initiated the war that would one day wipe both races out. After hundreds of years of war, both the elv'ena and the orkari were becoming steadily more endangered. However, the warring continued. No one knows when the last of the elv'ena and the orkari died. However, in its wake, the war ravaged the planet, littering it with scars that would persist thousands of years later.

1750 Years Before Recorded History
With the elv'ena and the orkari gone, the world was free from the clutches of mass civilized society, and soon, the remnants of its two former dominant people groups were taken by nature. However, in the time since then, a new race had begun to develop as its own: humans. Although they predated the elv'ena and the orkari, the humans were too absorbed in their tribal ways to advance to their level, and the war between the elv'ena and the orkari had a catastrophic impact on mankind's lands. However, with enough persistence, the humans were eventually able to restore their numbers and establish the road to dominance. Small groups of humans grew into moderately large settlements, and the humans soon began developing new technologies. Unfortunately, the bloodlust that every human carries deep within was still quite powerful, and before long, the human settlements turned on each other. Luckily, while the others fought over petty reasons, one settlement continued to develop.

500 Years Before Recorded History
In time, the warring societies eviscerated themselves, leaving only a handful of settlements in existence. One of these settlements eventually developed into a large city named Britannica. Boasting a level of advancement rivaling that of the elv'ena and the orkari of old, Britannica soon established itself as the capital of the entire human race. Through diplomacy and force, Britannica assimilated other burgeoning civilizations, and in time became an empire in its own right. During this expansion, the humans rediscovered ether, and incorporated the bizarre magic into their lives. Ether usage was common throughout Britannica's territories, and it allowed the empire to progress faster than ever. Unfortunately, ether was also dangerous, and before long, harsh restrictions were placed on the magic. In order to protect the secret of ether, the emperor established a group known as the Aurors. Aside from being tasked with enforcing ether restrictions, the Auror's served as the right hand of the emperor himself. Britannica was at peace for a time. Unfortunately, during its peak, Britannica's most influential emperor, Séron, died from an unknown illness. With no true heir to the throne, Séron's illegitimate son, Wyatt, took the throne.

480 Years Before Recorded History
Twenty years following the death of his father, Wyatt was still the emperor of Britannica. Unfortunately, he was the opposite of Séron, caring little for his subjects and surrounding himself with the luxuries of being a ruler. Even age did little to cure his incessant immaturity. During his reign, Wyatt removed the ether restrictions, giving everyone free access to the formerly restricted art. In the process, he also dissolved the Aurors. (The Aurors continued to exist covertly, seeking to undermine the cruel emperor's regime.) However, the worst of his offenses was his involvement in black magic. Seeking to use the dark forces of ether to exert absolute control over Britannica, Wyatt become a proficient warlock. In time, he learned to summon creatures from another realm, and used these abhorred wretches to control his subjects through fear. The Aurors, still existing without Wyatt's knowing, knew it was time to act. A thorough plan of assassination was drawn up over a period of several years. Finally, on a cold winter's night, the Aurors initiated their plan, breaking in to Wyatt's castle in Britannica's capital and making their way toward his chambers. Along the way, many Aurors were killed by Wyatts guards, as well as his summoned monstrosities. However, a single Auror, the Grandmaster of the entire society, made it to Wyatt's chamber, where he faced the warlock in one-on-one combat. Initially, the Grandmaster easily bested Wyatt. But, before the final blow could be dealt, Wyatt submitted to his inner darkness, and soon overwhelmed the Grandmaster. Wyatt emerged victorious. However, knowing that he had lost all hope of regaining complete control over Britannica, he killed himself. With no leader, the empire fell into anarchy, and Britannica was torn apart.

Modern Day
Since the fall of Britannica, mankind has been hesitant to reforge such a society, believing that man's innate corruption would only lead to his downfall. Instead, people now live in cities, towns, and villages scattered throughout the world. With no clear central authority, these settlements are completely independent of the others, though travel between them is not uncommon. In the nearly 500 years since Britannica's fall, the human race has changed dramatically culturally speaking. Whereas Britannica was an idyllic society where every man was well off and the poor were unheard of, this new world is plagued by poverty, and crime is all too real. In one such city, Halenshire, the situation is no different. In the middle of Halenshire's cramped streets, there lies an orphanage like any other. However, the orphanage is not important. No, what is truly important is one of the orphans sitting in his or her room, playing with his or her toys, and possessing a burning desire for adventure and change...

This game, tentatively entitled A Fable, is an action-adventure game with small RPG elements. It follows the tale of one seemingly ordinary person as he or she initially desires to make a positive impact on his or her world after witnessing something truly horrible in his or her. Along the way, he or she uncovers the mysteries of the world's previous inhabitants, and unwittingly finds himself or herself thrust into the midst of an unseen war between the forces of evil and those brave enough to stand against it... all while wearing a ridiculous hat.

Despite the serious tone of the game's story, A Fable is planned to be comparatively light-hearted, with witty dialogue and interesting characters throughout. It is, in some ways, inspired by 18th century English satire, ala Jonathan Swift; everything is intended to be taken with a grain of salt.

A Fable takes place in an as-of-yet unnamed world that has seen its fair share of hardships. Aside from the elv'ena and the orkari, it has seen the rise and fall of Britannica, the largest empire in history. In its present state, it is inspired heavily by late 18th century Europe; melee weapons are beginning to be phased out, and powder weapons are becoming commonplace. The seas are traversed in galleons and other such vessels, and everyone speaks with a noticeable English accent, with varying dialects such as Queen's English and Cockney being the two most common.

As I said before, civilization in this world is limited to a series of independent, yet loosely connected cities, towns, and villages. These cities are oftentimes riddled with crime and corruption that would make most people flee. However, given the dangers of life outside of those walls, most prefer to live with the constant risk of muggings. One of the most important cities if Halenshire, where the game's protagonist grows up. It's a large city with nearly 200,000 residents; of that 200,000, 100,000 live in poverty, while 90,000 and 10,000 are either middle class or upper class respectively. The law is "enforced" by the city's guards who are all recognizable by their broad shoulders and square chins.

Cities aren't the only locales, however. Other regions include an idyllic forest called Havenwood, a slightly less idyllic forest called Bowerwood, a series of plateaus and cliffs called High Rock, and a wretched, undead-infested swamp known as Marshwood, among others. In each of these regions, you will find all manners of creatures that love to kill people ranging from bandits to goblins to trolls to demonic spawn from another plane. Also, the occasional friendly NPC.

  • The hero never dies. Instead, he or she is knocked out and later wakes up at the nearest inn, minus 200 gold.
  • There are no potions. Instead, the player must consume foods and drinks to replenish health and energy.
  • Aside from HP, there are two energy sources for your abilities: energy, a quickly charging gauge which powers your melee abilities, and ether, a not-so-quickly recharging gauge that powers your magical abilities. Energy and ether are represented by a yellow and cobalt bar, respectively.
  • No experience or levels. Instead, you must pay trainers to enhance your abilities. In a sense, gold acts as your EXP.
  • Oh yeah, gold is also rare. Having over 1,000 is considered impressive. Don't expect to have millions.
  • Various sidequests for the player to complete in exchange for new items and gold.
  • Three tiers of weapons: Rusted, Iron, and Steel, along with some unique weapons.
  • Various sets of clothing, each with unique attributes. Some sets are sex-specific and cannot be worn by the opposite sex. Also, there are no individual pieces; each set contains everything.
  • A rather sophisticated ABS system based on the XAS-ABS.
  • Witty humor.

Normally, I abhor anime in many of its forms, but I can safely say that Grenadier is the first anime in a long time to actually manage to pique my interest.

Has anyone heard of this series? More importantly, though, who here actually watches it?

Before I begin, a word of warning is necessary. If you have a problem with any of the following, it would be a good idea for you to refrain from posting and/or avoid this thread entirely:

- A Zelda game with actual firearms
- A Zelda game with choices that affect the story, gameplay, etc.
- A Zelda game that doesn't involve Hyrule, the Triforce, etc.
- A Zelda game with limited dungeon crawling
- A Zelda game with a darker, more mature story
- A Zelda game where Link's primary uniform is NOT a green tunic
- A Zelda game that is more challenging than Twilight Princess or The Wind Waker
- A Zelda game with a fully orchestrated soundtrack
- A Zelda game with voice acting

I'll give you a moment to make your decision.

Okay, now we can move on.

Since this is first and foremost a game idea, I'd like to start off with something I consider to be "the basics," that being the game's world. Since this particular game takes place several hundreds of years after the established canon (the latest of which being Spirit Tracks, which supposedly takes place a hundred years after Phantom Hourglass, and the landmass in this game is the same landmass that Link and Tetra eventually find), a lot has changed. People have long since forgotten about Hyrule, the Goddesses, the Triforce, and the Ancient Hero, and have instead turned to science and philosophy, two of the most influential ideas of the real world enlightenment.

As with old Hyrule, this world (which we will refer to as Hylia) is a monarchy, and is ruled by a Royal Family. However, while their power is quite absolute in the Castle City, those outside its walls care little for its laws, with many of the towns having their own governing bodies and laws. (They do keep in contact, however, in case a criminal in one town travels to another.)

There are many races of sentient beings in this world, such as humans, Gorons, etc., as well as several new races, such as a species of yeti-like creatures that inhabit the cold, mountainous regions of the world. Humans have by and large dominated the land, but they exist peacefully with the likes of the Gorons and the ever elusive Zora. In fact, the yeti creatures are on good terms with humans, as well. However, there exists strife between the non-human creatures; Gorons hate Zoras, Zoras hate Yetis, and Yetis hate Gorons. This is fairly general, though, and there are exceptions.

In terms of technological advancement, Gorons reign supreme, followed by humans, then Yeti, then the Zoras. By this time, Gorons have once again adapted to an arid volcanic lifestyle, and have progressed to the point where they have become completely industrialized. Goron machines are powered by steam and magnetism, and they have a rudimentary understanding of electricity. Humans possess technology that is roughly that of the real world enlightenment; guns exist, but are quite primitive and rely on flintlock mechanisms to work. In close-quarters combat, swords and spears are still used. Longbows have been phased out completely, and the crossbow is becoming more and more obsolete. Yetis are still fairly primitive, but are more than capable of building castles and houses. Guns are unknown to them, and they rely more on close quarters melee combat. Zoras are the least developed of them all. They still reside in caves, and resort to simple weapons made of non-metallic materials in combat. They have advanced little.

Now, about the landmass itself. Overall, it's roughly the size of Europe. However, the portion you will explore is a small portion that's roughly 1000 square miles; slightly larger than the Great Sea map in The Wind Waker (which was 1000 square kilometers). In order to block off the player, the edges of the explorable game world are either sheer cliffs that you cannot climb or deep chasms you cannot cross. If neither exist, you will be told by the game that going any further is not advised and you will be turned around.

Unlike previous Zelda games, the world here is lush and full of life. Each and every part of the world is unique, from the trees down to the appearance of a roadside sign. Unique NPCs with full schedules wander their respective towns, waiting to be talked to. Seasons change, as well; when they do, the environment and the beings within it act accordingly, e.g. an NPC that wears shorts and a shirt during the summer would wear a thick coat during the winter.

Sidequests are once again an important part of the game's world, and performing them has interesting effects on the world and what you can do. Performing these quests will usually net you some extra spending money, as well as a unique item for you to use. Be warned, though; performing some sidequests will prevent you from being able to perform another, but may open up other sidequests for you to sink your teeth into, e.g. helping a naughty child cause mischief on a farm will prevent you from being able to perform sidequests for the unfortunate farmer, but will also open up future sidequests involving that naughty child. It's a delicate process; in the end, one person may not have the same experience as another, and thus will end up differently.

Items in the game can either be rooted in reality or quite spectacular in retrospect. Your gun, for instance, is very realistic; however, on the opposite end of the spectrum, items like the Grapple Shot (this game's version of the Hookshot or the Clawshot) or the Lens of Truth are quite mystical in function. NPCs in the game will sometimes comment on how bizarre some of your equipment is.

Unlike other Zelda games, this particular title features actual voice acting. However, it's not in English; instead, the characters speak a fake language created specifically for the game. It's relatively simple in sound, consisting mainly of vowels with few consonants, and the syntax is identical to English. When characters speak, a dialogue box opens and the text is written so you can read it, ala Midna.

One of the things I look for in a game is a graphical style that looks great and fits the game. Naturally, this game would take advantage of this. I would describe it, but I found a picture that sums it up rather well. Click here. A somber look and feel = win.


Now, we can talk about Link's character. He is roughly 17 years old and originates from a small town in the northern tip of Hylia called Ordonia. (Gotta love throwbacks to old locations, eh?) He lives in this small settlement with his father and older brother, both of whom are hunters, though the father is also an adventurer. Since he is nearly 18, both of the older men have been teaching him important skills, such as the ability to hunt, use a sword, shoot, etc. One evening, both his father and his brother fail to return from a hunting trip. Concerned, Link ventures into the forest. There, he finds them surrounded by bizarre creatures. He attempts to free them, but before he is able to, he is shot in the back by a masked man in a coat. Severely injured, Link dies while his father and brother cry out in emotional agony.

However, that isn't the end of the story. Upon his death, Link travels to the afterlife, which is a euphoric fantasy covered in a dreamlike haze. After solving a series of challenges, Link is able to enter the centerpiece of this world; a huge, castellated temple. Inside, he finds the ethereal spirit of the old queen name (you guessed it) Zelda. She explains to him that he is a part of a long line of heroic figures, and that the Goddesses have shown favor on him. She also explains a little about the creatures he encountered. After this, she awakens his spirit, calling him a Reborn Hero, and he is resurrected and apparently unharmed.

In the same fashion as Twilight Princess, Link's clothing is altered after this experience. After his resurrection, he is told by Zelda that he is wearing clothes "fit for a hero." It consists of a light green shirt over a darker green shirt that boasts a hood. (This serves as Link's trademark hat.) He is also wearing chainmail and a leather pauldron on one shoulder. The aforementioned shirts and chainmail also extend passed the belt, giving the appearance of a tunic. Beneath this, he wears dark gray pants that are typical of the era, as well as a set of hardy boots. Another difference, though, is his coat, which is a dark gray-brown overcoat that is left unfastened. It covers both arms and extends to just below the knee. He also wears gloves; the glove that covers his shield hand is fingerless and made of cloth while the one on his sword hand is fingered and made of leather. As is typical, he has a scabbard on his back that is attached via belt. Overall, his uniform is very reminiscent of Link while being very different.


Link is able to use many items throughout the course of the game. These items have a variety of uses; some are used in combat, some are used to solve puzzles or open up new paths, and some are used for several purposes. The most important, though, are his sword and shield. The sword you begin with is known as the Heirloom Sword. It is described in game as a simple iron weapon that has been passed down from generation to generation. The shield you begin with is a simple wooden shield. As the game progresses, you are able to use several other swords and shields, such as a certain blade of evil's bane.

Another important item is your ranged weapon. You will find four in the entire game: a Crossbow, a Pistol, a Rifle, and a Turret Rifle. You find the Crossbow soon after Link's resurrection, and in truth, you never have to upgrade it. In order to get the other three, you have to perform certain activities. When you have more than one ranged weapon, you can choose between the ones you have in the Items submenu. Each weapon has various advantages and disadvantages: the Crossbow is weaker than a rifle, but it has superior accuracy at a distance. A pistol is weaker than the rest, but it can be reloaded very quickly and fired without much need for preparation. The rifle has the most power of them all, but is slow to reload and shoot. The Turret Rifle does less damage than the crossbow or rifle, but it can fire more than one shot before having to be reloaded. (The reason for this is that it's a multi barreled weapon.)

J-Factor's Transition Engine is fine and dandy, but it never seems to work right when ported over to whatever I happen to be working on (as in, it's ridiculously slow).

So yeah; does anyone have a nice lightweight and easy-to-modify-should-I-feel-the-need-to .gm6 with the necessary transitions needed for a Zelda game, e.g. fade to black, fade to white, push from left, push from right, etc.? If so, I want it.

EDIT: Scratch that, I've made J-Factor's engine my slave. Thread locked.

First of all, I don't care about the stupid Olympics. They're boring and full of really !@#$% lame sports. Swimming? Running? Volleyball? I'd rather get my DICK squeezed by a car alternator than sit through that snooze-fest.

Second of all, the only thing I care less about than the Olympics is some guy who can swim real fast or something, and has lots of medals. Also how many calories he eats a day. That !@#$% is not news-worthy.

People come up to me. Honest to god they do, they come up to me like they have big news. They go "Hey Cole, did you know that Michael Phelps eats like 40 million calories every five !@#$% seconds or some awesome !@#$%? ISN'T THAT JUST THE COOLEST THING" and I then bludgeon them full force in the teeth with a hard cover copy of the Da Vinci Code because I'm sick of people thinking I care.

You know what would make him more interesting? If he had no arms. Then I'd sit up and be like WHOA, because that nugz can swim real fast with no arms. But he has arms. A guy can swim... WITH ARMS?! Oooooh, big man. Give me a break.

Here's what he can do: Cut off his arms, wear little Mickey Mouse gloves on his stumps, and still win all his medals and !@#$%. Then he can give me a call to see if I still care.

Pretty good movie, imo. It was kind of a letdown, though; I went in ready for a comedy, but it's more of a drama. Not only that, but there's hardly any action with the exception of one scene. It seems that, like Hancock himself, the movie would rather DICK around and drink booze than use its amazing potential.

Alright, there's a fair lot of us here who are old enough to grow beards, and a larger lot of us that will soon be able to. So, I think it's a fair idea to have a thread for discussing beards of all types: mutton chops, biker handles, goatees, full beards, etc. Also, discuss events related to beards and awesome things your beards have caused. I'll start us off.

Technically, I could grow a proper beard, but I never thought it looked good on me. I might grow one in the future just for the hell of it though.

Is there a way to alter the way posts and threads are organized when you click on the Show the last posts of this person/Show the last topics of this person links? Seriously, having the latest items on the first page and the oldest items on the last page is just bad organization. I would prefer it if you reversed the numbers. For example, I currently have 176 pages of posts, with the first page (1) consisting of newer posts and the last page (176) consisting of my oldest posts. But, let's say I fill up a new page. Then, the oldest posts are found on page 177. Add up a few months of posting, and holy !@#$%, where is everything!?

Now, if my first page of posts were to be Page 176 and my last page of posts were to be page 1, life would be easier, because those numbers would be constant.

Again, I'm not familiar with SMF's inner workings, but if this is possible, PLEASE implement this. Post digging is not a hobby.

To the mods: I'm posting this here because I intended for this to be a serious thread about movie ideas that some of the users may have. If it gets too spammy, you can move it to Forum Games.

Anyway, as some of you may [not] know, I'm looking in to becoming a filmmaker (a very manly filmmaker, might I add), and I've had a few ideas for some movies that I would like to look in to making once I'm legit. With this in mind, I figured it would be an interesting topic if I were to post them, but then I took it a step further. Now, the point of this thread is for the posting of your movie ideas and for some good ol' C&C on said ideas. I'll start us off.

The movie idea I came up with, simply entitled No was inspired by Cloverfield in regards to the filming style (that being cinéma vérité, or "cinema of truth") and is a zombie movie. The whole purpose of the title in relation to the movie's theme is that the characters knew that zombies weren't supposed to exist, yet here they were being chased by a horde of them. What they're experiencing defies common logic. The characters are all college students in the midst of their Christmas break in the year 2003. Their bios are posted below.

  • Ridge Yeager, 24, is a cinematography student who hails from the fictional town of Dawson, Ohio. He's one of the artsy types of people and is the one who operates the handheld camera for 80% of the movie.
  • David Doyle, 21, is a law student who also hails from Dawson, Ohio. He does most everything by-the-book, and is the first to die.
  • Michael Long, 26, is a medical student who hails from a small town in Vermont. He is the second to last known to die.
  • Louis Albriton, 22, is an art major from Orlando, Florida. He is a close friend of Ridge's.
  • Robt Simpson, 23, is an education major from New Port, Virginia.

The movie begins with an ominous message that states:

"In 2003, five college students were traveling through the Canadian wilderness
while on their Christmas break.

"It was there that they encountered what shouldn't have been.

"This was all that was found."

The movie then flips to what appears to be a handheld video camera (Basically, the four white corners, a timer, and the *Rec icon.) that is filming the inside of a van. The characters are sitting in various seats (most notably, Ridge in the middle-right seat and Robt in the driver seat). They're all laughing and having a good time like good college students on break. A few minutes in, though, while Ridge is looking away, they hit something and swerve off the side of the road. They all climb out of the van while simultaneously chastising Robt for his action. Once they are all outside, they walk towards whatever they hit.

As it turns out, they hit a person, who, at the time, they assumed to be homeless. He had pasty, pale skin, was covered in dirt and mud, and possessed an unholy smell. They assumed he was dead at first, but after he moaned, they were relieved. Michael and Ridge went back to the van to gather the medical supplies he had brought with him (really, a fancy first-aid kit) when they suddenly hear David scream in pain, closely followed by Robt and Louis screaming in fear and surprise. Michael and Ridge rush back to Robt to find that the man had bitten David on the hand, in the meaty area in between the thumb and the index finger. The next few minutes involve the group attempting to free Doyle from the lunatics jaws. Once they do, Robt kicks the man in spite and they all flee to the van. By this time, David is looking rather pale. Knowing that he needs professional help, they head to a small, nearby city to find a hospital.

It isn't long before they find one, and they immediately rush him in. The doctors immediately rushed him to the ER as he was losing a lot of blood and was in the beginning stages of shock. One of them assures the group that he'll be fine, and they all go to a small hotel on the outskirts, with Michael and Ridge in one room and Louis and Robt in the other. However, due to the adrenaline currently rushing through their bodies, they cannot sleep. Because of this, Michael and Ridge stay up talking about random things. All the while, Ridge is filming. Sometime around 3:00AM, they hear a knock at the door. When they open the door, Louis and Robt grabbed the remote and switched on the news. There was a news broadcast about a riot in the same city they left David in. Almost immediately afterwards, gunshots were heard. They grabbed the keys, jumped in the van, and raced to the city center.

When they got there, the sun was just beginning to rise, giving everything a surreal atmosphere and the riots seem to have ended. The group drove around for an hour or two inspecting the damage when the van ran out of gas. (They had forgotten to fill it up the night before.) So, they got out and went on foot.


That's really as far as I've gotten. I'll finish it up once I've thought of what happens next. Anyway, post your movie ideas now.

Yeah, I know: "leik wut anudder thred askin 4 a ignoar funkshun???" Deal with it.

Anyway, I'm not going to bother trying to be formal about this, so I'll just come out and say it: there are a few people on this board I hate and would rather not acknowledge, and if I do, it's usually to insult them. I want an ignore function so I can actually disacknowledge them forever and not have to deal with their stupidity.

Hm, yeah, that's about it.

It all began at 3:30 PM yesterday (the time I usually get home after work), and as usual, I fire up Firefox in hopes of watching some webcam girlz on YouTube. It worked normally, so no complaints...yet.

At 6:45 that evening (thereabout), I once again climb on Firefox to read some old Maddox articles and see what's on Netflix. Netflix works fine, but for some reason, Maddox won't. It's blocked...sort of. It just won't load. I figure that it's just his site or something, so I try to go here...but I can't. I started to get mad at this point, so I gave it the ultimate test: Google. And, holy !@#$%, it doesn't work either. Well, long story short, site after site wouldn't load in Firefox. I checked the same sites in IE7 and they loaded just fine. Logic would dictate that I should use IE7, but seriously, !@#$% that, I'm using Windows Safari.

No, this is not a reference to the Min issue, so admins, put your lashes and cattle prods back in your ominous iron cases. Anyway, back on topic.

Long story short, I got in trouble today at work because of some of the threads you guys have posted. The reason for this is that the computer I usually use to get online at work is in clear view of anyone at the counter, and occasionally, there are younglings there and I'm sure their parents would raise hell over having their spawn see some offensive language, and I would prefer to stay out of trouble.

So yeah, tone down on the innuendo and !@#$%.

It's that time again for a random-ass serious thread from yours truly.

I've been on ZFGC for nearly two years now, but it was only in the last year did I actually rise to prominence. The reason? This:



Initially intended as a joke to poke some fun at Drilly, The ZFGC Chart of Masculinity it has since evolved into a ZFGC meme of sorts, as have I. People have stated that I should father their children, adopt them, etc. all because of that chart. Admittedly, I went along with it, which would probably explain my popularity. Now, I'm not complaining, but I just have to ask: why did this become such a huge deal?

EDIT: This is NOT a discussion on who is on the chart. If you want to !@#$% about your position or why you're not on it, do it into a pillow.
