I went to the midnight showing when it opened without knowing anything about the movie or novel at all, and I didn't even see any trailers O_o.
It could have been my spring break sleep-deprived mind, but I found the movie crazy good. There was a ton of stuff for me to take in and the action was awesome. Rorshack (I think) was an awesome character, definitely my favorite in the film.
Hah as a side note I also didn't realize that Manhatten's DICK was out until about halfway through the movie.

Finally got around to dropping this on my main desktop, works great! It also helped me realize why some of my graphics were weird in my game (due to gimp saving an odd resolution along with the png, all I had to do was re-export with the resolution box unchecked).

Also, the link is broken in your post. It should be http://www.binaryphoenix.com/index.php?action=projects&id=11

So I just stumbled on this blog post: http://gamerlimit.com/2009/02/a-must-see-high-definition-retro-gaming-art/

The actual guy's deviantART is here: http://orioto.deviantart.com

:D The pictures are amazing, and he has Metroid, Sonic, and Megaman as well. I especially love the Zelda one; it's inspiring.

Haha the icon made me laugh :)
It errors out when I hit Process, but it looks like a really good tool and when I have more time I'll definitely try to get it to work.

Twilight Princess graphics would be sweet, what tool/language are you developing this in?

What do you use for mapping? If I'm not mistaken, XNA doesn't come with a map editor.
Actually I'm using one that some guy made with XNA, mostly because I like the format, it has a bunch of handy features, and at this point I'd rather work on the game than the editor. Here's a link

I do have my own editor started from an older project that I'll probably end up finishing if I can't get the source for and tweak the one I'm using right now though.

Coding / Re: Basic XNA question with sprite origins
« on: December 21, 2008, 05:19:58 pm »
It defaults to 0,0 but you can set the origin with a Vector2 when you call SpriteBatch.Draw(). It will also use that origin if you do any rotations.

It's pretty much winter so I'm working on a Zelda project again. C#/XNA :)
I actually have the majority of this game planned out, so there's a good chance that it will get finished.

Discussion / PC Gamepads
« on: December 15, 2008, 06:17:19 pm »
I was just wondering what type of gamepads people here have (or don't have) for their PCs. I think it could be useful for developers in designing controls for more than their own setup.

Personally I have a microsoft joystick, an old sidewinder (pic) that has a pad but to get input you use the x/y axes, and a fancy logitech that is essentially a ps2 controller and you use POV-hat inputs for the pad.

Other Discussion / Re: Giving Blood
« on: September 01, 2008, 07:43:54 pm »
We have a blood drive at school one or two times every year and last spring was the first time I donated. I would definitely recommend eating a LOT before giving blood, lol I didn't and ended up passing out once I got back inside the school. It was the first time I ever got a black eye from the floor :P

And I never thought about it as a gender thing, there were always about the same number of boys and girls wearing "Got blood?" shirts.

Is there still a search function somewhere and I'm just not seeing it?

Huh, I thought there would be more new school entries O_o
Oh well, I can't really complain :)

Oh wow I've been using this for a few years and still think it's awesome, glad you enjoy it too :) It's a shame this isn't working for so many people, I've never had problems with it either.

It is; haha that's actually where I got the power symbols for my HUD, aside from the beam power.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken the graphical style is that of Kirby's Dream Land 3 for the SNES.
Yep, I loved the crayon-y drawn look.

Well thanks for the replies, and lol Darklight I can't figure out what you mean. The waterfall with the three blocks at the bottom?
