Who here has HG/SS, and what will be your starting pokemon!? >;3
Also, Friend Codes and all of that !@#$% here too, because we're gunna organize some regular pokebattles fooz.
I'm probably going with Cyndaquil. Not sure yet. I pick up my games today.
-
They haven't been released here yet.
-
I would probably pick Cyndaquil. Because he can beat all the gym leaders pretty easy.
The strategy:
1st Gym Type: Flying = Cyndaquil beats this with no problems.
2nd Gym Type: Bug = Cyndaquil beats this with no problems.
3rd Gym Type: Normal = Cyndaquil beats this with no problems. But the Milktank is using Milkdrink.
4th Gym Type: Ghost = Cyndaquil beats this with no problems.
5th Gym Type: Fighting = Cyndaquil beats this with no problems.
6th Gym Type: Steel = Cyndaquil beats this with no problems.
7th Gym Type: Ice = Cyndaquil beats this with no problems.
8th Gym Type: Dragon = Cyndaquil can't beat this.
So, overall Cyndaquil are the best pokémon to pick. Also, you are not using Cyndaquil all the time. The best team you could have are:
Typhlosion
Noctowl
Ampharos
Tyranitar
Haunter
Dragonite
-
I'll uh... "get" the game today, despite already beating it Japanese. And I too, will probably start out with Cyndaquil.
-
I think I go for Totodile. Because I have never started out with a water type.
Blue => Bulbasaur
Silver => Chicorita
Emerald => Torchic
Pearl => Chimchar
I see a pattern developing. Which means I HAVE TO take Totodile.
-
Well; Quilava's level 21 now <_<
Also started a group.

Do you have anyone else? Or do you only have Quilava?

Couple more =3 Not gunna spoil my team though
-
As you know, I preordered online and will thus get these two babies in the mail real soon.
I WILL MOST LIKELY START WITH CYNDAQUIL mainly because I think I started with Chikorita/Totodile the last times I played. That and Cyndaquil is just that badass. I seriously can't wait to get these, and in the meantime I'm working on somewhat "finishing" Pearl; this is impossible since I can't get Regice, Registeel, or Regirock (if I got the names wrong, sorry). Basically, can't get Regigigas.
-
Haven't gotten it yet but I will.
I'll be starting with Cyndaquil because Chicorita is too girly and Totodile is just goofy.
-
=3 Ecruteak city now... w00t
-
I have it buy I cant play it, need a new DS battery lol
PS: You think someone can beat 2 mewtwos/deoxys? im gonna migrate them to my SS. 8)

Hax are unappreciated >;(
-
No hax lol, got it from some Japanese kid long time ago on my diamond, and the mewtwos for from both FR and LG xD
-
Yeah I figured :P
Thankfully, HGSS has mewtwos
-
NUUUU....
I wants HG/SS, I have to do with diamond though...
EV training ftw.
-
Gonna buy it as soon as it comes out. Which is currently a week and a half.
-
Is quite awesome :P
My Meganium and QuilavaTyphlosion are doing great at lvl 34 36 apiece :P
-
I'm getting this ASAP.
-
Me want this in English. I have it but in Japanese so I need to wait to 26th March for the European release. :'(
-
Off to my last gym, my mains are lvl 44 :p
-
RELEVANT!

*waits to get slaughtered by Shefali*
This is why I chose Cyndaquil. You get a frickin TYPHLOSION! How cool of a name is that? The only cooler starter is the frickin' metal penguin known as Empoleon.
-
Nobody had love for Treecko in Ruby? :(
Never really a pokemon fan except for the rpg aspect :/
Probably wont buy the games.
-
Got both on the release day :D (gold for me and silver for my brother). Not too far yet (Whitney) though since I've had work every day since I got it :/, that and I got addicted to the new game corner, mainly so I could get a early Dratini.

I've already played for 12 hours D: 6 hours per day... which is pretty sad XD Little more since I have another file on Gold along with Silver. I probably have no life D:

OSHI. I vaguely remember that.

lucky for you i didnt get it yet lol, i heard its fun.
-
I can't decide weather to get heart gold or soul silver because the differences in pokemon exclusive to each title has tied with me in a 2 vs 2 way as there is 2 pokemon in heart gold that I like that aren't in soul silver and viceversa.
:P
-
Same for me, there's really only 2 exclusives in each game that I care about. HG has Kyogre and Claydol, and SS has Meowth and Skarmory.
Heart Gold's exclusives are technically better. In gen 3 Claydol was the best contest pokémon and Kyogre was the strongest in battle. I don't know much about gen 4 pokémon though; I haven't played those games.
-
Just get both =3 the benefits are OUTSTANDING.
Well, that and having 2 DS's :P

Well considering I only have the first release ds and am thinking of getting the dsi I will eventually have two anyway. :P
-
I heard something about a new DSi  Anyone has the original DS besides me, lol I need a battery for it. The funny thing about my DS is still works after be tossed into a pool XD

It must been the DSi XL. :P
-
Still have my original DS ^^ Does the Pokewalker thingie work with that or need a DSi?
More importantly, am I the only one whose response to hearing about the Pokewalker was to head-desk themselves into a coma? -_-
-
Well, they could have used a better name, and overall design for it.
-
Still have my original DS ^^ Does the Pokewalker thingie work with that or need a DSi?
The cart itself actually has an Infrared sensor :P
-
Just beat Johto ;3 took exactly 24 hours.
Beat it with Stevis (Lugia lvl 53), Typhlosion (lvl 56), Feralgatr (lvl 46), Geodude (lvl 15), Krabby (lvl 20), and Totodile Egg (lol)
...Almost too easy :P

I guess it would, considering it is a remake and not a complete new game. When you've played the original's you know what to do and where to go. Then again the Pokemon games themselves never were to complex. I spend most of the time level grinding pokemon. Not that I really needed it, because you could deal with any gym with a single powerful pokemon. But somehow I thought it was fun to do the diehard mundane RPG task of level grinding.
Still have to wait until it is released in the Netherlands.

Really? You only vaguely remember that? HA! One of the advantages of never deleting anything.

:P I never said the original was difficult. In fact, I think I clocked Johto in a little less time in the original. Although, my strategy is pretty solid for NPC trainers =3... Bitches say "Love" is the only way to train a good team. No! You just need some freshly caught !@#$% pokemon to go out so you can heal your powerful ones =3
As for the sensor; it's for the pokewalker--- a pedometer that lets you take your pokemon with you.
-
The poké-whatus? What the hell is that? And more important, what function does it serve?
-
You transfer your pokemon to it, and you can use it for Mystery Gift, and as you walk the pedometer ticks and the pokemon inside gets XP...
Yeeeaaah -_- Wonder how many teenage boys are going to tie this to their wrists, if you know what I mean (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ADateWithRosiePalms)
-
It's a pedometer that you can transfer a Pokemon on to, to train them whilst you walk everywhere. Granted, you can move it back and forth to cheat and get them high-leveled, but meh.
And... TDJ? There is so much wrong with you.
-
So it is something like the day care, but instead of your game character it is I that has to do the walking. Well good idea for quick level up, but that is so boring. Level grinding is the true way to get high level Pokemon fast. Otherwise I would tie the pokewalker to the dog's leash and let him chase balls all day. No need to tire myself out.
-

It couldn't possibly be cheating, since if you get one at lvl 100 from the walker, and you verse another of the same breed also at lvl 100 that was levelled legitimately, you'll lose 100% of the time. EV's my friend, EV's.
-
Or you can, like I said, move it back and forth to mimic the walking motion. Or put it on in the morning, do your daily routine, and at night check. You probably walk a lot more than you realize!
-
I had it in my pocket before going to work (8 hour shift) when I finished I checked it and had about 16000 steps O_O, lot more than I thought I'd have.
-
See, my point exactly. You'd be amazed!
-
:P It's still somewhat pointless to put a pokemon you intend to use in there though. You don't get any Effort Values for it. It's basically cutting your pokemon's potential down to about 1/3rd the amount of stats he could have. Although; it is VERY good for things like items, and using it on pokemon you don't intend to battle with.
-
yeah, leveling for evolutions to fill the pokedex or something like that.
-
Indeed
I wonder if you get the benefits of trading when you transfer back and forth (IE evolutions). I should try it out on my graveller.
-

That's exactly what I've been using it for, more specifically the happiness evolutions since they gain happiness from walking too (or so I've heard).

That'd be really cool, would make things a whole lot easier, let me know if it works.

That's only if you never EV train it. You could use the Pokéwalker to get your pokémon up to level 99, then EV train it, then reach level 100 and get full EV benefits.
btw, EVs only add 127 stat points. That's a lot less than 2/3 of the max stats of almost any pokémon. :P
-
My bf just caught a Kangaskhan and a Magby on his Pokewalker and he's not at the second gym yet.

True, but it still makes a huge difference.

^This.
It's the difference between a "!@#$% pokemon" and a "good pokemon" :P It's the whole basis behind the whole series being based on "training with love"; the idea that the more you work with a pokemon personally, the stronger it will be. If you've never EV trained a lvl 99 pokemon, and then you train from 99 to 100, you're still missing out on a lot of potential stat points if you're not planning on sitting there for HOURS on weak ass pokemon :P. Also it's 510 maximum, 255 per stat :P
Going off of Bulbapedia, you'd have to defeat 631 Mew at 100 EV apiece to max out your stats. That's a lot of effort for the "effort" :P
-
Mammy, you've convinced me that you have no idea how EVs work.

I'm not saying EVs aren't important, I was just correcting you on what fraction of a pokémon's stats is gained from EVs.
If you've never EV trained a lvl 99 pokemon, and then you train from 99 to 100, you're still missing out on a lot of potential stat points if you're not planning on sitting there for HOURS on weak ass pokemon :P.
If you properly EV train your pokémon, you're not missing out on any potential stat points, regardless of what level you started training it.
Also it's 510 maximum, 255 per stat
FOUR EV points = ONE stat point. So when your pokémon reaches it's maximum 510 EVs, that means it gets 127 actual stat points from those EVs, not 510 stat points.
Going off of Bulbapedia, you'd have to defeat 631 Mew at 100 EV apiece to max out your stats. That's a lot of effort for the "effort"
I have no !@#$% idea what you're trying to say here. You'd never have to fight 631 of anything because you only need 510 EVs, and you should be fighting pokémon that give up more than 1 EV.
If you're training with the Macho Brace and fighting pokémon that give 2 EVs, that means you get 4. Four EVs per fight means you only have to fight 127.5 pokémon to get your maximum 510 EVs.
-

or if you use a power item, you'd get 6 EVs.

They changed a lot since gen 1; my last part was going strictly off of Bulbapedia on Gen 1 EVs.
Exact quote:
When a Pokémon is defeated, its base stats are converted to effort points and then added to the EVs. For example, defeating a Mew grants 100 effort points to each EV. (Defeating 631 Mew, therefore, will give a Pokémon maximum EVs in each stat.)
I didn't realize that Gen 3 (which I never played) changed EV's a bit by making them their own *in data* value.
I should also note; a quote from Gen 3 EV on Bulbapedia:
Pokémon are limited to a total of 255 effort points per stat, and 510 effort points in total. Maximum stats will be reached with only 252 EVs in a stat, however.
I tend to trust Bulbapedia as they've done nothing but sift through the data structures of the games to get their information :P
EDIT: Apparently I misread your first post D:! I just got home from work. I read "btw, EVs only add 127 stat points." as "btw, EVs max out at 127 stat points" thinking you were referring to the total number of EVs maximum per stat :x
-
Everything I said was based on my knowledge of EVs from gen 3, which should be the same in gen 4. You were talking about gen 1 which is a completely different system, and also one I don't understand because I never played the original games. O:
Bottom line is you're still wrong about the Pokéwalker. ;P
** You will not miss any potential stat points by making your pokémon gain any amount of levels before EV training it. **
The only way you wont reach full potential is if you never EV train before level 100.
-
Yeah I was basing my knowledge on Gen 1's EV architecture. HGSS is my first Gen 4 game :P
-
I still think level grinding is the heart of any decent RPG's and not some cheap shortcuts.
Question: in the daycare center, Pokémon do not evolve even when they reach the required level, but they do learn new moves and overwrite old ones. Is that the same of the Pokéwalker, or do you get a notification about a new level and or move being reached?
-
well they learn new moves as far as that particular evo's skillset allows. Not too sure about skills with the pokewalker. I'm sure it'll prompt you to change moves and what not when you send the poke to the game again.
-
Well, just bought the game today because I got tired of waiting for the AP patch, and I really wanted the Poke Walker. Already got Cyndaquil to level 9 in about 20 minutes, and transferred a level 2 Pidgey to the Walker. This should be interesting. =P
-
XD Your pidgey's probably going to be super strong pretty quick if you use it regularly.
I never actually knew that outsider pokemon level at a 1.5x faster rate :o
My Red Gyarados is making use of my walker at this particular moment =3
-
Apparently pokémon you receive from another region (e.g. traded from a Japanese game to an American game) get 2x experience. I can't confirm or deny that, however. >.>

That's pretty neat :p
I'm not positive on that either, but whenever a pokemon who's OT isn't the same as the player battles, it gets 1.5x the standard experience. You can usually tell when a pokemon's an outsider when it says "*** Gets *** Boosted EXP!"
-

Yeah, the boosted EXP thing with traded Pokemon has been there for a while. It'd be really awesome though if the Japanese version had a 2x multiplier :P. That's encouraging me to get the Japanese version of Generation 5 (whenever that may come out) for learning Japanese purposes AND for ultimate trades :P

Its another one of those urban myths that may be true, but I've yet to meet/know anyone who's tried it.
-
I just looked it up on Bulbapedia and it seems they get 1.7x experience, not 2x. D:
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Outsider_Pokémon (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Outsider_Pokémon)
While there is a chance that the Pokémon will not listen to its new Trainer, it will grow faster once traded. Outsider Pokémon gain 1.5 times the normal experience points awarded for participating in battles; outsider Pokémon from other countries will gain 1.7x the normal experience. This is denoted in-game with "Pokémon gained a boosted X Exp. Points!"
-
Freaking awesome XD
Yeah I think I might go the same route as Starforsaken and get the japanese gen 5 :P
-
Hey, I just got a copy of Ruby, so with that and my Emerald I have an unlimited supply of Groudons, Kyogres, and Rayquazas. And Regis. Once I get HeartGold, that is...
-
It's the 26th!
Meaning, I'm now off to buy a copy of SoulSilver!

I was going to reply right away but I was busy. I also bought a copy of Ruby ON THE SAME DAY AS YOU O_O!! I have never played the 3rd generation and I'm mainly happy to finally, eventually get Regigigas in Pearl.
-
Got my SoulSilver today! Plus the Ho-oh figurine! :D

Apparently there's a bug in the Dutch version of HG/SS, and the release of the games in both Holland and Flanders has been postponed until futher notice. FML :(
To ease the frustration I bought a copy of Pokémon Platinum which was on random discount in one shop for some reason or another. Pokéfrustrationwise, this was a wise thing to do. Financially speaking, it was probably pretty dumb to buy that game.

Pokemon Platinum's really fun actually, and they fixed a lot of things from Pokemon Pearl. I personally enjoy it a lot (I haven't beaten it yet due to the fact that Soul Silver just game out and I started it literally right after Pearl). Definitely a good purchase, especially due to the fact that it was on special!
-
Been playing my Soul Silver since it leaked, awesome game, although i haven't been playing it much since i;m playing other games, Damn strange journey and such
-
FISSURE plays Pokemon? Who knew? WILD JIGSAW APPEARS!

Yep :D, Only at like the 4-5th badge. XD at wild jigsaw

Thought you'd like that. I'm moving soon, and there's a GameStop right by where I'm moving to. So I'll be getting this within the next couple of weeks!

Nice, i was thinking of actually purchasing it myself, then decided not to. Whats wrong with your DS?
-
Has anyone actually caught a legendary like entei when they appear? They flee every time grrrr.
-
I have; and yes- they did that in G/S also :p
You need to paralyze to catch them, or just use a master ball.
-
I beat SS in about 30 hours. Yesterday I started a new game with haxxored pokémon from the beginning. I got myself a level 5 Rhyperior, Electivire, and Magmortar. >:3
-
Has anyone actually caught a legendary like entei when they appear? They flee every time grrrr.
Yeah, but each time you encounter their health will be the same as you damaged them with. So gradually weaken them till they're red, put them to sleep and capture them. I haven't done it in my legit copy, but I did it on the Japanese version.
Also, long time no talk Aaron. =P

D: really? I've faught Entei a few times with Raikou and his health has always been back up. Then again though, I haven't faught him twice within the same sitting; always after I've saved/shut it off/loaded later
-
It might actually have to be in the same sitting. I did it in the Japanese version with the walk through walls cheat so I biked and chased it down, so it'd make sense.
Also I randomly encountered Raikou without using a Max Repel WHILE SURFING, between Ecruteak and the city where you team up with Lance, thought it was kind of funny.

Haven't got the game yet, BUT HAVE BEEN WANTING TOO AS WELL :D :D
(I somewhat want it for two reasons...)
1. Pokewalker, the Idea just sounds awesome to me :D
2. IT'S THE G/S GAMES! My favorite Pokemon world of all the games
I'll probably get it when I get back home
-
I stand corrected on the legendary beasts :p
I don't think I saved after the first encounter, so the health (obviously) never stayed down.
-
Has anyone actually caught a legendary like entei when they appear? They flee every time grrrr.
Yeah, but each time you encounter their health will be the same as you damaged them with. So gradually weaken them till they're red, put them to sleep and capture them. I haven't done it in my legit copy, but I did it on the Japanese version.
Also, long time no talk Aaron. =P
D: really? I've faught Entei a few times with Raikou and his health has always been back up. Then again though, I haven't faught him twice within the same sitting; always after I've saved/shut it off/loaded later
Or if you do like this: Attack Entei till his health is low (the health meter is red) then you use a Pokémon that has an attack that blocks them from running away from the battle. Attacks such as Block and Mean Eye. You could also put them into sleep or paralyze them to make them weaker. Then you just throw a pokéball and then you got him.

Probably wisest to both Block/Mean Eye them and inflict them with Sleep/Paralysis, just in case the Pokémon decides to wake up and flee the battle immediately afterwards.
Besides, the catch rate dramatically increases when a Pokémon is paralyzed or asleep.
-
Got it last week. Just an hour here and there....besides today lol about 4 hours. Got everything around 25. I think I may start going back and actually taking advantage of the natures and stuff....
My battle with Ecruteak gym leader was freaking awesome.
Wiped his minor team with my kadabra.
The Gengar with fearow.
Gengar used hypnosis
Fearow is asleep
Gengar used 3 uneffective sucker punches.
Gengar used shadow ball. Uneffected.
Fearow woke up
Fearow used mirror move
Fearow used shadow ball
Critical hit!
It's super effective
Gengar is K.O.
lol
Anyone mind helping me find my friend code? I haven't played one since the original G/S. I know I need the pal pak and have it, but other than that I'm stumped.
-
I got HG and currently I have 16 badges and I'm redesigning my team, formerly it was
Typhlosion
Ampharos
Aerodactyl
Starmie
Umbreon
Now so far I have
Zapdos
Houdoom (well, breeding houndours for good IVs right now)
Starmie
Aerodactyl
and ideas for last two anyone?
-
My sister bought SoulSilver so sibling rivalry demanded I get HeartGold. Back in 2nd Gen I never bought Gold anyway so...erm, whatever my point was gonna be (I sleepy).
First time round with the fourth Gym that damned Gengar and it's high speed one/two-hit all 6 of my Pokemon -_- Then my Alakazam went up *one* more level and single-handedly defeated the entire squad so...yeah.
Currently trying to get my pokemon to a decent level before trying the fifth Gym since atm they are all at a silly-low level...still killing everything that gets in their path but still:
Growlithe lvl25
Graveler lvl26
Croconaw lvl26
Flaffy lvl27
Weepinbell lvl28
Alakazam lvl30
I'm planning on eventually dropping Graveler for a Dragonite or Salamence...or maybe a Tyranitar....
-
My new team consists of-
Typhlosion
Meganium
Lugia
Moltres
Articuno
Zapdos
I sometimes swap out the legendary birds for Feraligatr and Raikou.
I actually have quite a few high levels right now, but that right now is my primary team.
-
My current team:
Rhyperior
Electivire
Magmortar
Gyarados *shiny*
Xatu -I'm a HM slave ;_;
My last spot is going to be Magnezone. And I may kick out Gyarados and replace it with another new evolution of a gen 1 pokémon to keep with my team's theme.
-
Finally! Us Dutchies got HG/SS released as well today. Picked up a copy this afternoon. It'll take some time before I'll be beating the game, since I'm trying to play both Platinum and Soul Silver at the same time. Working on the 7th badge in Platinum currently, and ready to rock the 1st gym in SoulSilver.
Anyway I'd encourage you guys to not have more than one legendary bird in your parties; and definitely not three or four of them.. there all flying types, which means you'll leave your team exposed to the same weakness.
-
Yeah; I only have all three in because I'm leveling them up at Mt. Silver :P I have Feraligatr and Raikou as my substitutes for them when I'm getting into peer matches.
-
^That's what happens when I decide to browse forums at 4 in the morning: I forget to write half of what I intend to post..
Feraligatr and Raikou seems fair.
-
Either I'll get SS on my M3 when my DS arrives or I'll buy it. Dunno if I want to spend another $70 though, so downloading it is looking good...

70$? I'm pretty sure SS/HG costs 45$ each. Either way, it's honestly worth the money. It's loaded with a lot of content.

AUD :P It's like 2x CAD

Yeah, that's the only thing that sucks about being in AU. Hugely inflated game prices D:

Bought HG yesterday, and promptly slammed my Pokewalker into my Brother-in-law's car door breaking the screen >.<

You could of just used the Game itself to get the pokemon back out of the pokewalker if you wanted it that bad.
-
Nintendo also sells replacement ones pretty cheap

70 Australian dollars = 64.9771779 Canadian dollars So it's still way over priced it's like $39.99 here.
-
Didn't have my DS when i slammed my Pokewalker in the car door, nor did i have a Pokemon on it (Didn't even get a chance to use it).

Shefali, you emu !@#$% you :P
nah kidding, or am I?
Any way how did you get that image on your computer? Some wifi trickery or an emu?
Also beat HG and restarted (I ALWAYS play through the game once exclusively training my fire type starter then restart)
-
I am indeed using an emulator.
-
lulz thought so.
-
i got the game last week i currently have:
Charizard-from FireRed
Kyogre-from Sapphire
Dialga- from Diamond
Feraligatr- same game
Lugia- same game
Tiranitar- FireRed
actually I'm trying to get all the national pokedex complete and just beat the elite 4.
-
Just wondering if anyone decided to give getting a shiny starter a go. I decided to restart my diamond just to try to get a shiny piplup ><.
-
I got a shiny Mudkip in Emerald once.
Ontopic of HG/SS: Can someone tell me how you get a Kanto starter?

I'm not positive but I think there's an event of some sort for it. Also you can trade via FR/LG.

Once you beat Red on Mt. Silver, Professor Oak lets you choose one as an award.

I meant the in-game event because apparently you need it before you can get Groudon/Kyogre.

Ahaha good job Mamo. =P I'm leveling my Pokemon right now so I don't get myself slaughtered when I go to face him.
-
Current team consists of:
- Meganium
- Electrode
- Fearow
- Onix
- Charmeleon
- Wartortle
I reeled the last two in using GTS, and they're both ready to evolve after two more levels :)

I got rid of my Gyarados in favour of Umbreon. c:

Very nice :o!
Speaking of... I need to make an Eevee themed team (mainly for levelling them up... Might port them over to HG at lvl 1 for lulz
-
EEVEE!

Anyone have a level 1 Chicorita they've bred? I'll willing trade a Totodile or Cydaquil for it. Also the same goes for a Squirtle and I'll trade a Bulbasaur or Charmander for it.

I do :p Actually, I don't even need the totodile or cyndaquil (I have those too). I bred it just for giving away :p

Awesome :D I want a Totodile. I won't be cheap, I'll give you a Cyndaquil/Chikorita in return :)

This offer still better be up when I get the game in a couple of weeks :p I wants all the starters.

You know, it's kinda hard to buy something when ONE HAS NO MONEY TO THEIR NAME!
-
lol, PM me ;P also it's yours to keep.
-
Bizarre. Today, I caught Lugia with minimal effort :). I poisoned him, allowed him to get hurt until his health hit the orange, then caught him on my second ball throw. First a Dusk Ball, from which he escaped during the third wobble and then a Heavy Ball, which got Lugia caught. Now I bought 15x extra Ultra Balls (on top of the 20 I was already carrying) for nothing :<
-
I had a paralysed Ho-Oh on 1 hp and still had to burn through 20 ultra-balls before I caught it with the master ball -_-
-
NeoGeo; it's a good thing! Now you have those to catch other, more common Pokemon. Right?
-
I had a paralysed Ho-Oh on 1 hp and still had to burn through 20 ultra-balls before I caught it with the master ball -_-
<_<;; I caught Lugia with no probs, and Ho-Oh same thing.
Only things that gave me some grief were the legendary birds, and that's only because it took upwards of 10 ultra's before they were caught, plus countless attempts to get them down to 1 hp without paralyze :P
-
A real man is catching legendary pokémons with only pokéballs. I caught Lugia, Ho-oh, Suicuine and Raikou with only ordinary pokéballs but I got some legendary left to catch. D:
-
:o
*grovels*
You... are.... KING!
-

D: but what's the benefit of that? I mean, outside of at least 100 resets full of trial and error :p Seems like a waste to me D:
-

I think so far, Suicune caused me the most grief, but I haven't gone for the birds, Mewtwo, Ho-Oh or others yet :P
-
Back in the day I caught mewtwo with my second pokeball.
-
I think the Random Number God just decided it hated me. That and all my pokémon were around level 35 whilst Ho-Oh is level 45 when you encounter it -_-
Jason throws Ultra-Ball
Wild Ho-Oh just appeared to be caught
Jason throws Ultra-Ball
Jason presses Down + B
Wild Ho-Oh just appeared to be caught
Jason swears repeatedly -_-
*REPEAT x20*
Jason gives up and throws Master Ball
Atm all my pokémon are barely level 40, which means that the Elite Four destroy them. First try, Will's Jynx one-hit-KOs my entire squad, a bit of levelling before my second attempt, I get to the fourth member, whose Houndoom one-hit-KOs my entire squad...Training time again it seems -_-
-
I always found it best to level 1 pokemon to 60-70, then flatten the elite four using that one pokemon :p
-
Make sure you don't have too many Pokémon in your party with the same vulnerability. If you have a flying type, a grass type and a rock type.. well, you're pretty much !@#$% when you're up against Ice Pokémon. Having a Meganium, a Fearow and a Golem this is going to be one tough call for me tomorrow when I'm surfing down Route 27.
With the original Gold & Silver games, I remember beating the Elite Four with Pokémon of about level 43-44 without too much difficulty. Sure, I had to use a shitload of revives and hyper potions and had to reset my GB a couple of times (especially on Lance), but having a balanced team is a MAJOR help when taking on the Pokémon League.
For now: if all fails, I could always transfer my level 100 event Arceus from Platinum and steamroll the Elite Four without too much hassle. I just need a couple of PP-restoring items then.
-
My starter always seems to be around Lv 60 when I get to the Elite Four, go figure. My Typhlosion was at level 58 before I restarted then using the same Typhlosion I stomped the Elite four when he was at lv 78 xD
Oh, I also managed to get my grubby little hands on an Arceus (Japanese), and get Giratina ;D
EASIEST Legends possible :P
ebay
-
H4X!
Don't get owned by a Lv 12 pokemon with your probably-soon-to-be Lv 100 Arceus; it happens.
-
Well I found a nice little patch that makes this game fully playable on my M3 :D
Does anyone know if you can connect to the wifi online trading thing through an ad hoc wireless?
-
I just started a new game. I'm doing a Yanma/Yanmega solo-run. ○3○

I have never seen the Pokerus until now... :(
-
I got PkRS legitimately in Emerald. This was haxxed though.
-
How do you get that again?
-
My boyfriend got a Pokerus. It was held by a random Pokemon he caught. Pretty neat! I thought he was BSing at first but I saw it.
-
So it's random then? That's what I thought. dangit, I'm paranoid whenever you post after me now, Starforsaken!
-
You can get it by battling an infected pokémon or capturing one, and it spreads to other pokémon in your party when you have one that's infected. Finding an infected pokémon is less likely than finding a shiny pokémon.
-
Wow. I've only caught one shiny before. It was an "I" Unown. And, of course, red Gyarados. But that was relatively easy... the I Unown (which I named Igloo; I name all my Unown words that start with the letter they are) was the only one I caught randomly... Suffice it to say, I was surprised.
-
So it's random then? That's what I thought. dangit, I'm paranoid whenever you post after me now, Starforsaken!
lol Mirby :P. The only thing I'll nazi you on is that DAMN SMALL FONT CRAP! I HATE IT!!!!!!! RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. But it's not just you :P.
And yeah, it's random.
-
Seriously, STOP WITH THE SMALL FONT.
I don't bother to copy+paste it whenever you do it, so if you ever scream at me for not reading your post, that's why.
-
Have I screamed at you for that? I'm sorry if I did. And sorry, Star. I'll keep that in mind.
In OTHER news... I still don't have this yet... :'( I'm working on it...
-
In Opera the font doesn't show up that small.
-
It does in Google Chrome and the Midnight Theme (although I don't think the theme would make the difference assuming it's just the colors and logo is what's different), but yeah, I'd say avoid using small fonts.
(http://voidteam.net/colby/wow small font.png)
EDIT: Just checked, it's browsers, not themes.
-
inafter I defeat Faulkner, against all odds.
Yanma lv.13 | | VS. | | Pidgey lv.9 |
| | | | Pidgeotto lv. 13 |
winrar: Yanma!
-
Nice job! You got past one of the harder gym leaders for your chosen type... I'd save Brock for last or second last when you go through Kanto so you won't have too much trouble with him. By then, your Yanmega should be sufficiently leveled to handle him without any trouble. But that's what I would do... your game, your choice!
-
I imagine by the time I reach Brock I should be at a high enough level that I can beat him easily.
-
True... very true. Question: Don't you have to beat the Elite Four once before you can challenge the Kanto gyms?
-
Yeah, you need to beat the E4 and get the SS Ticket to reach Kanto.
-
That's what I thought. So you'd need to be at a level to beat the E4, which is probably sufficient to beat Brock, since only Yanmega will be getting experience from those battles.
-
BUGGIRL | VS. | BUGSY |
YANMA lv.19 | | SCYTHER lv.17 |

Victory number two.
EDIT:
BUGGIRL | VS. | WHITNEY |
YANMA lv.25 | | CLEFAIRY lv.17 |
| | MILTANK lv.19 |
Badge three in the bag. And I think I'm done for tonight.
-
Beat the Elite Four today :) Walked into the thing with all Pokémon at level 44, but I guess that the Blastoise which had gained three levels by the time I got to fight Lance gave me the edge that allowed me to rock the Pokémon League without even having to resort to using saving/loading :D
-
BUGGIRL | VS. | MORTY |
YANMA lv.32-33 | | GASTLY lv.21 |
| | HAUNTER lv.21 |

Fourth victory, and it wasn't easy.

just got to Lance (2nd round)
Salamence Lv. 72
Garchomp Lv. 72
Dragonite Lv. 75
Charizard Lv. 68
Altaria Lv. 73
Gyarados Lv. 68
vs. my Lv. 100 Charizard and Kyogre
yeah, i wiped the floor with his ass. but I'm trying to get exp. of my pokemon.
-
Salamence is annoying due to it's ability to use Rest <.<
Anyway, I've caught all the legendary birds and REALLY want to get Groudon D: (Has HG not SS)
-
BUGGIRL | VS. | CHUCK |
YANMEGA lv.38 | | PRIMEAPE lv.29 |

BUGGIRL | VS. | JASMINE |
YANMEGA lv.40 | | MAGNEMITE lv.30 |
| | MAGNEMITE lv.30 |

Two more badges, two left before the Pokémon League.
Salamence is annoying due to it's ability to use Rest <.<
Try using a pokémon that knows Uproar. >.>
-
I said he was annoying not hard >.>. Didn't need uproar.
-
YOU'RE ANNOYING AND NOT HARD! (http://www.zfgc.com/forum/Smileys/takam/shocked.gif)
-
That's what Uproar does?!?!? I... I did not know that... I wish I did; that damn Kingdra in Emerald would've been so much easier!
-
Well if it's noisy it pretty much prevents them from resting.
Up to the last gym now, lv 52 typhlosion.
-
I can be pretty stupid at time! 8)
Seriously though, good to know. NOW IF ONLY I COULD AFFORD HEARTGOLD! I'm working on it...
-
BUGGIRL | VS. | PRYCE |
YANMEGA lv.45 | | SEEL lv.30 |
| | DEWGONG lv.32 |
| | PILOSWINE lv.34 |
Piece ó cake.
-
Well yeah; you're 11 levels higher than his highest... ^_^
-
Damn, the dragon gym is annoying. I'd be alright if they didn't know water attacks >_>
-
Beaten the game, sans Red. Currently:
Feraligatr - 67
Machoke - 29
Snorlax - 50
Ho-oh - 49
Pidgeot - 55
Gyarados - 38
-
BUGGIRL | VS. | CLAIR |
YANMEGA lv.51 | | GYARADOS lv.38 |
| | DRAGONAIR lv.38 |
| | DRAGONAIR lv.38 |
| | KINGDRA lv.41 |
Finally got all the Johto badges. Er, wait, I still have to go nag Clair's grandfather or whoever because she's a baby like Whitney and won't give up her badge.
She wasn't as easy as the last gym leader, though. I'll have to gain a few more levels before the Elite Four, especially since Yanmega learns its best moves at levels 54 and 57.
-
I forgot to say grats on the yanma... I've yet to find one :[
-
Yay, finally made it to Fuchsia City so I now have access to the Pal Park. Transferred my Rayquaza from Sapphire. Its only objective will be beating Red, I guess. And I got my shiny Carvanha, which I caught while looking for Feebas (still got 500 tiles to clear :/)

I had a friend who completed the hoenn dex, I got him to give me an egg. Hope I've still got the milotic somewhere...

Good lord. Amazing. I am totally Yanmegamazed.

Let it be known that my Pokewalker currently has 1337 steps on it right now. I wish I could take a picture right now, but I lack a camera, and I'm in school. Also, Shefali, keep truckin.

After about 10½ hours I beat the Elite Four. Yanmega was level 59 at the beginning and 63 at the end.
I made a video of me fighting all the Elite Four, if anyone gives a shite I can upload to YouTube.

Common misconception about how the pedometer works... Your pokemon levels up once per walk, it doesn't work like the daycare. I get 16,000+ steps a day on a good day at work.
-
I'd like to see! ^_^ Please~
The video is "processing" now…
EDIT: Jesus, it's been processing for almost an hour. FFUUU- hurry up!
