Anyone know of a place where I can download 3D textures from various games? If not, right now i'm specifically looking for textures from Twilight Princess (environmental textures: buildings, trees, grass, etc), Resident Evil 4 (anything I can get), and also Half Life 2 (again anything I can get). I've searched around and can't seem to find very much or atleast things that I am able to use. :/

Well, for HL2 use GCF Scape and open a gcf to view the textures. Google it.

A texture with depth is probably the simplest way to put it.  I don't know too much myself, but I know with 3d textures you don't need to wrap them around the object like you do with 2d textures (because they're 3d), thus you don't get that horrible distortion that you get from wrapping that you do with 2d textures.

lol I was actually referring to the 2D textures to wrap around the 3D stuff. I definitely worded things badly. xD

Yea, for HL2 just use GCFScape and open up the GCF file in your steam folder..assuming you have the pc version, that is.

A texture with depth.  They're used in things like CAT Scans I think.  I'll have to check my OpenGL textbook again.

Why does your OpenGL book say stuff about CAT scans?

Because it discussed 3D textures, which are used in 3D imaging such as cat scans maybe?  OpenGL doesn't have to apply to only gaming, you know.

A 3D texture as in the cross section and slices is what you mean, then..?

Pretty sure that's still a series of 2-dimensional images, which are like slices of the 3d object.

Dude, that horrible distortion won't be there if your model is unwrapped properly, and you're using a high enough resolution texture.
