Title: Pokemon Gold/Silver Remakes Teased.
Post by: Porkchop on May 04, 2009, 03:29:39 am

Quote
Adding it all together, a teaser by Japan's Pokémon Sunday TV program points to an announcement next weekend that Pokémon Gold and Silver will be remade.

The tease, offered this weekend, said simply that Pokémon Sunday would have a "world-exclusive first announcement," on May 10 during the program's Pokémon Game Arena segment.

Oh, but there's what you say, and then there's how you say it. Or, more importantly, where you say it. In this case, it was said underneath two gold and silver confetti-filled balls. (depicted). Hmmmmmm. HMMMMMMMM. What could that mean?

From Bulbanews: "It is also theorized that Junichi Masuda will appear on the show to make the announcement, since he did so both last month and the month prior in regard to other game-related scoops."

As awesome as this sounds, in a way, I don't want it. If it's made classic, then yes, but if they insert all the stupid gameplay mechanics from the recent generations then no thank you.

This will rule

the gameplay mechanics from the newer games are fine. I just hate how you can't put items in the PC now, Thats what i always did with my masterball so i wouldn't accidently use it.

I was also surprised when diamond didn't have a free potion in the PC at start.

My ass. Bunch of pokermans hippies jumping to conclusions the second they see something that they want to believe hints toward something they want.

Really? I didn't even notice that feature was gone.

Personally, I want this game, and have wanted it for many moons passed.

o rly, FISSURE.

The new gameplay doesn't necessarily bother me. I hope, though, that they do include a "legacy" mode where you can just play with the older system for nostalgia purposes. Online play should be pretty cool. I liked it in Diamond/Pearl.

It would be nice, but is it true. I will just be patient and wait for the announcement next weekend. It would be pretty hilarious when it turns out it isn't a remake of gold an silver but a wii version of Stadium/Colosseum  :P Just be patient.

There's Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Wii already. I doubt that there'd be a remake of game that has already been "surpassed" or even remade, if you wanna argue that.

I just hope that Kanto is still in the remakes. Part of what I liked about Gold and Silver (and Crystal) was that you could go to Kanto and do the gyms out of order and then battle against the one character you supposedly played as in Red/Green/Blue/Yellow. I had nerdgasms when I battled him.
Title: Re: Pokemon Gold/Silver Remakes Teased.
Post by: DJvenom on May 04, 2009, 03:49:08 pm
Kanto also doubled the game's size, which was totally awesome. I personally nerd-gasmed finding Lance at the Lake of Rage, and the battling him at the end :D The Gary/Ash battles were also really satisfying too... This game just takes me back to a really awesome time in my life. I remember playing it til Dawn!

They should just make Crystal since it's the best of all of them in my opinion since you could catch all version exclusive Pokemon. Second Generation Pokemon is definitely the best of all Pokemon games for sure because it was so big compared to others.

There's not going to be anymore Pokemon games on the Wii apparently and I liked Colosseum. Pokemon Stadium is boss and there should be another one. Battle Revolution is like a gimped version compared to it and I personally loved the minigames in both 1 and 2. There really needs to be a Pokemon MMO!

They'd probably include some Crystal enhancements, but they'd make 2 versions so that there's a need to trade.

Of course, such as Battle Tower and the female character but that those were pretty much the only things new with it. I personally loved the Trainer House in Viridian City. I would alway fight my brother's Pokemon.

Mamoruanime, you may want to fix your link, the é in the game causes it to cut off.

I can't wait for this! I love Gold and Silver to death, they were probably the best Pokémon games out of the whole series.

I really do hope they make it a full remake and don't try to add any other unnecessary additions like more islands or stupid conditions to catch Pokémon and evolve them. I just want a classic Pokémon game. :)

Here's what I hope is kept:

The bank, seriously, I remember using this, I didn't have to loose half my money everytime I lost in battles.

The time system, it's arguable that ruby and saphire had one, it didn't use it like these two did, keep that the same way

the days system, really, it was awesome for it to be tuesday in game and tuesday in our time too.

Well, those were my favorite features in GSC, hope they keep them in the remakes.

I'm happy, but I kind of don't like the Diamond/Pearl style with this game. I sort of hope they fix it up a bit.

It'll be fun going back to Kanto as well :).

The only thing I don't get is if they will or will not implement the day/night feature again seeing as they left it out of the newer games because of the fact that kids had to stay up late for the features that occurred at the nighttime part of the game but I am not sure if this would really bother me though if left out.

They even made it more a part of the game by adding morning and evening to the cycle. And some pokémon are more frequent during some parts of the day and rare on other parts. Additionally you have pokémon that appear on specific days of the week. And it still had all the day/night events all the previous games had.

Gold/Silver only had a pokémon evolution and some houses where closed.

Well I never played diamond/pearl and I remembered some article for ruby and sapphire when it came out and they mentioned why they didn't include the day/night feature so I didn't think they would include it in diamond and pearl because of that reason.

Uhm I might be wrong, but I think I remember that ruby, sapphire and emerald had a day/night system. It was FireRed and LeafGreen that didn't have a day/night system, because the originals Red and Blue didn't have a day/night system.

It would also be a problem if they wouldn't include the day/night system. Gold and Silver introduced Espeon and Umbreon, evolutions of Eevee dependent on that system.

There was no day/night system in any of the GBA generation. However, the umbreon and espeon evolutions still required it to be day/night in real life, assuming that you set the clock right at the start of the game.

Funny thing is, I'll probably end up getting both also.

Gold and Silver were what ruined it for me though :'( not because they were bad games, but because of a statement Nintendo had made when they were released in Japan. They stated that they were going to keep the pokemon names as close to the original names as they could. Sadly they still had some bs name changes, kinda felt betrayed XD (at the time, I had owned the japanese silver... This was a while before it was released in the US... I was already accustomed to the japanese names :\)

ANYWAY. Off of that rant; I kinda lost interest at that point, but this definitely makes me wanna play em again :p Especially considering it's probably going to have all of the newer pokemon too.

I agree that the new Pokemon games shouldn't be so similar to the original.

Personally, if I could take control of the series, I'd set the next games in Medieval Japan.

Right now, we kind of have to since those two games aren't out so that's our only means of hyping for it since I guess Diamond, Pearl and Platinum can't do that for most people.

I prefer the Crystal girl, but whatever... If I get this chances are, I'll play as a guy anyhow.

...I have a friend who likes playing as a girl... His reason was that he'd rather stare at a girl's butt than a guy's butt... ...Good reason, I guess, but I like making the character my own avatar.

Dunno why I said that, btw. Just came out.

These games have the ugliest female heroine of any Pokémon game to date.  DJ, your taste confounds me.  I think Emerald has the best female trainer, and FR/LG have the best male.

They did; they were just tomboys with boy-like hair and clothing... Coincidentally, your own mother (in game, that is) didn't know you're actually a girl, so I guess girls playing Pokémon were really just boys in disguise.

lol no gurlz on interwebs

(Actually, a lot of girls did play Pokémon back in the day, at least, relative to the gender ratio for video game players... That's just how big Pokémon was.)

I guess I'm not real.

Man, back in the day, I used to play Pokemon SO MUCH...until it was banned from school (elementary school). It was so serious that when I was drawing a picture of Gengar, they confiscated it. I was so pissed.

I shouldn't really say back in the day because I still play Pokemon (played over 40 hours of Pearl, and have yet to really crack into Platinum...at the third gym). I'm a big dork.

Nah, people who play Pokemon aren't dorks. If people call you a dork for playing it, then they are the dork because they aren't playing too. XD

Plus, 40 hours? that's nothing. I've had platinum 2 weeks and I've sunk over 70 hours into it.

Playing Pokemon is pretty much the most un-dorky thing you can do.

Like when pretty much everyone in my grade got really into Pokemon last year (http://www.zfgc.com/forum/index.php?topic=25126.msg277647#msg277647). That was amazing and intense.

Wish that would happen at my school, but no. They're all too cool for pokemon.

There was only those few times where that happened at my school but mainly with my friends. In Grade 8 when Emerald came out, a friend of mine got it and we ended up playing lots of it together at lunch and had a few battles. Same thing happened last year once my friends finally got a copy of Diamond and Pearl. Platinum didn't bring the spark back though but I think it'll be too late once HeartGold and SoulSilver come out.

Though, it was awesome when all of us played Pokemon together and showing everybody their Pokemon. It was pretty super stellar.

I was just comparing how long it took for Pokémon to get its player gender selection to the stupid internet meme (is it really a meme?) that there supposedly aren't any girls online. *shrug* Didn't mean to offend anyone.

Dang. Your school must've been pretty strict if they took the time to recognize what a Pokémon was just to prevent you from drawing it. Tch, I would draw Pokémon all the time too.

And don't worry. Most people who try to not be dorky by saying that they're too old for Pokémon are probably the first ones out there buying the newest games (that is, after Mammy's done).

Hahaha, back in my senior year of High School, I brought a (semi-portable) boombox and like four themes Pokémon decks. I picked out the open air, middle table, put in my custom, one-track CD of the classic Pokémon battle theme, and my friend and I just started playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game right in the middle of the the open-air lunch patio. Like a dozen people looked at us playing Pokémon TCG. I actually helped bring the game back to popularity like I never saw it before at my high school. It only lasted a month or two, maybe more, but it still fun.

Hahaha, High School... I should've more the most out of it, yet this is all I really have show for it.

That made me laugh SO hard! Are you serious? That's so freaking epic!

My friend gets free stuff from the Pokemon TCG company (like cards and BADGES). That being said, I have all of the Diamond/Pearl badges somewhere (I'm not really sure where considering I moved and haven't quite unpacked everything). Once I find them though, I am contemplating pinning the badges to my Metallica hat to make it look cooler. OH YE!

LOL. Actually, I was in EBGames last night with my guys, and I saw this HUGE guide for Platinum. I'm not joking, it's freaking HUGE. It was only like 25$ too. I whispered, "Man, if I didn't just spend 40$ on manga, I would SO BUY THIS RIGHT NOW!" and he facepalmed.

Meh, why buy guides when gamefaqs is free and the game's aren't that hard to figure out? But yes, I know which guide you're talking about. It's about as fat as a slim textbook.

I'm serious. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from the time and I don't know if anyone took pictures of us playing. I like to say the whole idea was mine, but then again, I guess if my friend hadn't been as crazy as he was, I might not have caved in and done it. I honestly felt a little embarrassed carrying that boombox around, but after hearing all the passerbys talk about how awesome or oldschool it was what we were doing, I guess I felt a little better. I guess my friend and I just burst everyone's "I'm too old for Pokémon" bubble and everyone just realized that, "Hey, I still love my [insert favorite Pokémon here]!"

I don't think I'd pull such a stunt ever again though. XD Everyone was looking at us play and I'm not that great at the Pokémon TCG, mostly due to lack of cards. Still, I did beat my friend once with a Pikachu (4 regular Pikachus and 4 LT. Surge's) themed deck.

Me and my friend Nathan bought it back when we found out we both loved it, so had a battle in the middle of the field at lunchtime. loads of people flocked around and someone shouted "ha, what you playing, Pokemon?" trying to be funny. We just said yeah and the next day everyone had their old gameboys with them.

There's always that one person who will see you playing on your Gameboy/Advance/DS and ask that stupid question. What's funny is, my Gameboy was the transparent purple one, so you COULD see what game I was playing. Usually I'd play Link's Awakening and people would stupidly ask the question. Gawd.
