Well I thought I'd do a bit of work on Hyrule Field, so I took Hoffy's version and adjusted brightness and contrast, and then edited it a bit for the effects (gate is closed, etc)

While its pretty consistent with OoT, I have to say it looks REALLY bare. I understand that OoT's Hyrule Field is rather empty but because of textures the empty ground is made more visually appealing. I'd suggest that you either add an overlay or something to the grass (similar to FSA) or add more grass (tall grass perhaps?) and some shrubbery to create more visual variety.

Hm...I agree with you on the bareness. I just took Hoffy's original and adjusted it to nighttime. I can't remember if he said no editing or not, but I don't want to add a bunch of stuff without asking him first.

Personally I think it looks WAY too dark, and the problem with creating darkness to things like this is that due to people having different brightness to their monitor, some people may see like totally black when they see this. I mean I can make out most everything but it's rather irrating to my eyes for some odd reason. And also, this is just a small thing that may be obvious but some of the objects aren't placed into the same night theme I don't think.. Mainly the bridge and a few of those walls.

While it's nice to see something fresh (I've yet to see someone make Hyrule field in LTTP style) I have to agree that it looks too bare. It doesn't have to look 100% like OOT's field, which benefitted from being able to see terrain in the distance to tell where you were going. Also when you modify brightness/contrast, always remember to set the contrast in the same direction you set the brightness so the colors aren't so saturated.

Nicely done though, and true to the original map! :)

I didn't make the map...Hoffy did. I just set the brightness/contrast and did the closed drawbridge and torches.

Changing the contrast does not work.

Try changing the hue (to purple-ish) and contrast...

The main problem with a lot of the oot2d style maps that have been created recently, is that people try to stick far to close to the original layout and design of the 3D versions. Which, plain and simple, dosen't work, LTTP graphics are simply not meant to be used in that way. People need to be more imaginative rather than trying to create exact clones.
