I've changed the harp to guitar (that's what I was worried about...sounding too much like Q.K.'s piece, but it really is purely unintentional), changed the cello, and fixed it up a bit. I might be done today...surprisingly.

Yup, finished  :P.

So far, mine clocks in at 1'12. My goal is to make it 3 minutes or longer. It'll be my longest completed peice so far If I reach that!

Mine is 54 seconds. I lose.

I really don't have too much time to make the most amazing piece, so I kept it simple. Also, my theme is the shortest. And it's more a video game track than following a story.

Anyway, finished version (C+C appreciated):

Mine lasts 2 minutes. I planned to make it a little longer, but I wanted each part of the song to match each paragraph of the text (I mean the description of the song, which I wrote). I could read the text in about 1 minute, so if I did the song longer than 2 minutes, it wouldn't match the text well.

EDIT: @Scooternew
It sounds quite good, but maybe too fast... I think it would sound a lot better if the tempo was reduced, specially on certain parts.

I was actually worried it was too slow. On what parts do you think it should be slower?

The main reason I chose sunrise is because the theme is so simple, and it doesn't progress much. If I had time, I'd most likely choose The Mountain. I just wanted to compose more than be in a competition :D.

EDIT: I've decided to put more work into it, make it longer.

You mean... me and Obsequious Eye? We are the only ones who chose Lo-Fi. And Obsequious Eye hasn't even chosen a theme yet... I wonder which theme he's going to choose.

By the way, I've sent my song to QK already - I didn't redo it. It really wasn't exactly what I expected, but maybe it's just okay as it is.

Phew! Almost done! I'm really close to finishing up the hook and then I can loop that then fade it and done! It will be really nice when I do finish... this has been pretty stressful!

!@#$%, just realised I'm away friday through till sunday.. so I only have tomorrow to write my piece O.o, I only started today.. and got like 8 bars, of one instrument down and it sounded !@#$%... uh-oh. :\

Finally! I finished literally like 2 seconds ago. My god I can't beleive how much better it feels to finish! All I need to do now is export it... and send it to QK.

Edit: Fade'd and about to send it to QK. I'm glad i'm done with it!

3 hours...? It only took me 1 hour to do my song... Does it take more time to do an MP3 than a MIDI? (I've never done an MP3, so I don't know)

Well, I spent just over an hour on my piece. Normally it takes me weeks cause I do a little bit, then wait and do a little bit more.. it's a bit !@#$%, but I've submitted it.

@sjegtp: Generally MIDI making goes by a lot faster than working with higher quality samples and such. This is mostly because when you have MIDI, it does a lot of work for you. With MIDI, you can never clip, and there are generally no effects like reverb or EQ that you can use on your tracks. When you get into higher quality audio making, there are thousands of things you can do to your sounds, which takes up time, as well as you have to master your music so it doesn't clip. Generally, there's just more work involved when you're working with the higher quality audio stuff.
