Title: Site navigation as well as making a new post/thread.
Post by: Dusty on July 29, 2010, 04:28:16 am
One thing I find very annoying about browsing this site is that you can't open links in new tabs/windows. All links simply navigate to: http://www.zfgc.com/index.php#. So I can't sit and open up a bunch of tabs. I have to go to the page, view it and go back. This makes browsing the games a slow process.

Also, making a new post/thread redirects you back to the forum section, instead of said post/thread. This is... odd?

The first is because of our DICKBUTT powered site. There is a redesign in the works that gets rid of the DICKBUTT completely, stay tuned.

The second is a setting you can set yourself. Goto Options and Look and Layout Preferences, check "Return to topics after posting by default".

I never liked that feature. I blame Infini, since he's younger than me. by a week

Anyways, personally I don't like the narrow display.

The redesign also utilizes a much wider forum ;P I'm quite sure you guys can all see it. I remember Windy making a topic about it somewhere...

Yeah, but I was too lazy to register for the new site.

What's wrong with "right click->open in new tab"?
It simply doesn't work. Like my post says, it just opens up index.php. That was already cleared up, though, and the second problem was resolved :)

Thanks.

I see, you were talking about the resource section.  I caught that right after I posted.

Oh, I forgot, I modded some custom styles file in my firefox profile, that's why it's big.

Actually, flagrama pm'ed me a way to do it after the forum broke for me once and ended up looking widescreen. This is what he said:

You just have to increase the width of the ".subContentTable" and ".subHeaderTable" classes in the css. They are normally set as 800 some pixels. I used the userContent.css for firefox to do so, but you can probably use anything that will modify the css as well.

In fact, mine is:
Code: [Select]
@-moz-document domain(zfgc.com)
{
.subContentTable, .subHeaderTable, .contentCellDiv, .contentCell
{
width: 85% !important;
}
}

I can't remember where the usercontent.css file is though, google it :P

Yeh DICKBUTT for an entire site sucks, bad mistake from my early experiments with it. Needs a redesign to remove it.

Windy has been working on a revamped site concept but I am not sure exactly when that is going to be out.

The new site is on hold at the moment as there a lot of complications involved with updating the site.
If you want to check it out the url is http://wwfan.zfgc.com/new/
