Title: Link to the Past 2
Post by: Walnut on April 17, 2013, 02:58:47 pm

I may just be jaded but this honestly looks awful and unappealing, on about every level I can think of. The graphics, the way the gameplay looks, just ugh. Not to mention pulling a Final Fantasy in the first place by doing a direct sequel to a game instead of just making a new game (Even though it is a new game so it's just branding)

Holiday 2013 release

EDIT: Another video (Thanks Vash)

he never said it was a direct sequel. just takes place in the same world.

i do plan on getting this though, unlike the oracle games, which i will not.

Well atleast this Link looks like the one from LTTP and not wind waker Link.
Can't wait lol, was waiting for something LTTPish for a long time now.

Honestly the graphics on the 3DS are pretty meh no matter how you look at it.

But I am still excited.  LTTP is hands down one of my favorite games.  Any game conceptually based on it will peak my interest.

The puzzles in this game look pretty awesome too.  I can't wait to see more.

This actually looks pretty good. Clever puzzle elements. I just hope they don't try to cash in on the classics too much.

Unfortunately for me, I cannot see in 3D (not without forcing my eyes and causing a massive headache). I'll have the 3ds without seeing any of its benefits.

3D is mostly for eye candy anyway. The only game so far that it actually helps some is Super Mario 3D Land

And some 3D's easier to see than others. Ocarina of Time had really good 3D but Fire Emblem's is pretty on/off

I would be interested in purchasing this had I owned a 3DS.  But since I don't, I kinda don't care now.  At least they finally gave Link his orange-brown hair back, and he's no longer blonde.  He never looked good with blonde hair.

I think for a 3DS zelda it looks pretty good, and i love how it looks alot better then games such as PH and ST. im not a big fan of the graphics but they do seem neat and polished, although im not sure by just the small video. what i am mad about is that to play this, and OOT3D, and the rumored MM3D(some website had some thing i read about, not getting into this here though. im sure it will happen eventually.) i would have to spend so much money on a DS, and then the 60$ games.. thats what is dissapointing. games like twilight princess and SS are probably worth the price, but DS games are not.

Well, in all fairness, the 3DS console isn't all that expensive. You're right about the games though. They're not quite 60$ here, but at around 45$ each...getting a lot of games does hike up pretty fast. You could always wait until they go on sale or something, though.

I think this is going to be fun, and I like the new game mechanics introduced! Really excited for this!

In my area, all videogames are atleast $60. so when that huge break of video games comes out, 120-180$ is a shitton of cash for someone without time for a job. heh. although my friend does hav ethe console, so im thinking of doing some split costs on the games and such. im pretty excited for this game though. i think some good story could make its way in here.

I think this game could be good. I mean we all new a sequel was coming when the guy said he'd like to make one. I am glad that it's a handheld and not the next Console game though. I doubt they'll keep the name being called 2... They've done sequels before with PH so... let's hope for the best.

even 45 is pushing it. most 3ds games go 35-40.

and like previously stated, the 3ds isn't that expensive.

this is a great deal. the xl, plus a game for 200.
(just a matter of having it in stock)

or don't go xl, and get this for 170

Now all that matters now is the story, wondering what it is going to be seeing Ganon got his at the end of LTTP.
Probably some people are coming back from original LTTP.

Im also guessing multi-player out of the question?

Would be find to have a 2v2 sword fight or free for all, in addition, do a few puzzles to get bombs or arrows to use against opponents.

Shadow Battle from Four Swords in 3D would be nice.

Interested in the plot myself. This game is in the Decline timeline, between LttP and OoX, and LA occurs after OoX. I hope Nintendo keeps with the darker theme. WW, PH, and ST had a much more comical, cartoon-type theme. At the very least I would think that Link will not have a companion with him for the entire journey.

See PH: Bellum. See ST: Malladus. See Majora's Mask: Majora. They have a run of main bad guys that aren't Ganon (or Demise).

Now this game looks something I could get excited for. Unlike that Wind Waker HD. I think I will definitely buy this game.

Ahh, severe pixelation, where have you been this last decade?  It has been too long, my old friend.

I already don't want to play it since they make Link a child again.  Just doesn't do it for me.  Like, it's hard to explain.  I can enjoy Kid Link in 2D over heads like Minish Cap, FSA, and so on.  However, PH and ST both became boring for me after an hour.  I just cant get into a kiddish universe.  I even had trouble playing through all of Wind Waker back in the day.

I dunno.  Hope it sells well and that we get a crack at those resources for use in fan-games.  xD

The SNES aLttP art depicted Link as an adult, and the GBA remake had him look like a teenager and sound like OoT Young Link. Hope they end up changing this to make him more... mature?

Thank god it isnt one of those im going to use the DS in cheezy ways for all the items and levels. no more yelling into the mic and swiping the screen.

Pretty sure the 3DS's benefits are far from just having a 3D screen now :p
(Although, really? Is that on any 3D "volume"? or do you just try to go with max when trying to use it? As I find that everyone has their own "sweet spot" on the "volume" to find that fits them best.)

Anyway, Damn I was surprised. Alttp 2? haha. Insane. Yeah, it does look rather different art wise, but I'd be a fool to judge on it just from that. Although on the other hand, when it showed link turning into a drawing on the wall :o
Seems like it'll have a lot of interesting ideas too, not just be a simple copy/brand cash in or whatever, so looking forward to this :D

It does looks great.. I like the graphics.. but.. I don't get they keep doing 3D games with top down view.. the 3rd person view gives an awesome feeling in Zelda.. at least in my opinion.. it feels much better

I'm the inverse and prefer it top down.  It feels the feel of the original games better, and suits the series as a whole a lot better.  It could go to motion picture 3D for cutscenes, but the gameplay is better top down.

I am excited for the game, however I hope the dungeons will be a lot more complex than the one in this demo (even if it is only a part of the dungeon).

I know, but Nintendo has a way of bringing him back multiple times lol.
But I like unexpected things coming into the game. FF3/6 is an example.

Sigh, I dont have a 3DS lol.

Always getting excited for a new Zelda game. Though, I was looking through some sites to pre-order and one site predicted a 22 November release. Guess we have to wait and see :P

I must agree.  Though this looks really cool I wish they would just keep the camera at a 3 person view.  It would be cool if they gave an option to play either way though for those who prefer the top down approach.

I don't care about the approach in terms of top down or 3D but what bothers me is that they said they were done using Toon Link as a design... This is still Toon but just altered to look ALttP...
