Entertainment / Re: Nintendo DS initial charge
« on: May 09, 2008, 09:41:00 pm »
I've never bothered with that whole "initial charge" thing.  Every DS, (and the one PSP I had), I've bought has had a good amount of power right out of the box, so I always just turn it on and play it right away.  Reduced battery life-expectancy be damned!

Its flawed, but it's hard to tell if it's bad game design, or if its the way it was intended to be.  The open world bits? Horrible.

I haven't had the opportunity to play it yet, but yeah... It almost sounds as if the the lackluster "overworld" was actually some kind of subtle statement by Suda.  Something along the lines of, "Hey, I enjoy the missions and story of games like GTA... but why even bother putting the massive city in the game if you can't really do anything?".  You never know.

Anyway, I'd really like to play it, (even if it's not the best), but I'll have to wait until I buy another Wii.  Also...

I guess we're the three sole owners of NMH on this forum. This is sad, because I know a year from now at E3 09 people here will be like "WHY ARE THERE NO GOOD 3rd PARTY GAMES ON THE WII!". Because you didn't buy this game.

It's that serious folks. I'll let you pass on Zack and Wiki (it's amazing), but skipping NMH at this price is a crime itself.

Agreed.

Entertainment / Re: A sci-fi Zelda.

Sci-fi? Eh, no. Colonial era?

Hell to the mothafuckin' yes.

I'm thinking more of a near-future (2050-ish) with similar technology, none of which would play a very large part, set in a russia-like setting.

In other words... Dark Sector?

Anyway, I think it a futuristic Zelda might work if done right, but a steam-punk Zelda would be gotta-change-my-underwear worthy.

I saw it last night.  Pretty good overall, at least in contrast to the average super-hero movie.  I'd say it's about on par with Batman Begins.

So. Much. Better. Than. Spiderman 3.

Not that hard to be better than a piece of !@#$%.
^This.

I dunno, it's hard to beat Peter Parker finger banging random people on the street. I'll admit, I let out a heart laugh at that and the part where he danced.
Really?  I just felt embarrassed during that part... like it was somehow my fault that Peter Parker dyed his hair black and started dancing or something... :-\

Also, the writer is a genius; I found myself laughing quite a bit at some of Tony Stark's lines.
From what I've read Robert Downey Jr. altered many of his lines to better fit his real-life image.  I think it worked out pretty good, even without taking into consideration Downey's record.  Apparently before he had his way with his lines the movie was almost entirely humorless, (at least according to interviews).

You is right. Keep
4chan
on
4chan.
Actually
I don't think that face even originated from 4chan
, I could be wrong though.  Anyway, it's just an emoticon, I see no reason why it should be removed except if it DOES start to get overly abused.

Holy !@#$%, was that a real advertisement or a parody?  That guy was WAY too excited...

67
uh. I think everyone's looking too much towards the Source engine judging by your responses :P They did mention they wanted something made specifically for the wii; I'd imagine that means writing something new for it, instead of using existing technologies or titles ;p

Source is quite scalable and could easily run a game on the Wii (especially HL2), but many of the newer titles would not be playable.

Yeah I know its very versatile, but again they said they want to make something new made specifically for the Wii :P that defeats the purpose

I'm pretty sure they meant that as creating an original game, not a port.

« on: May 06, 2008, 05:45:16 am »
if people really want games on Wii, then we need to make our voices heard.

Strike anyone?

As long as the Wii keeps selling as well is it is now Nintendo and 3rd party developers won't listen.  Why spend huge amounts of money on development if you can produce shovelware on a dime and still sell an unimaginable amount?  Nintendo is only one company and we can't really expect them to pump out original games any more than the next one.  The real problem is the lack of quality support from the numerous 3rd party companies.  As I said before though, it's unlikely that they will start producing better products, (taking into consideration the extremely low sales of most of the most quality titles already available).  I suppose that as long as there are still good games being released, (no matter the frequency), that's all that really matters.

Well, I sold my Wii for a PS3 back in December... I don't really have to deal with any sort of drought until I buy another Wii.  Anyway, I was playing Dark Sector a lot until I beat it about a week ago, but currently am obsessively playing GTAIV, (currently at 50% completion and 35 hours into the game).

Also, the obligatory "in b4 shitstorm".  God you're such a troll sometimes Swiftu...

I'd imagine that if they were to make something it'd be similar in tone to a !@#$% child of BOOM BLOX and Portal.  If they actually go through with it I'm fairly sure it'd be pretty good, (even if it's kiddy).  It's Valve, what's the worst that could happen?  Another crappy casual mini-game collection trying to cash in on the success of Wii Sports and Wii Play?  This is Valve, so I highly doubt it.  If it were any other developer I would go straight to cynicism and pessimism mode.

I didn't think it was funny... maybe because I hate MMORPGs and anything related to a rick roll?  However, I thought this was kinda funny:

O.O so you're saying Q-Bert is gay...? I beg to differ lol

lol, no I don't... Q-Bert is the man.  The way I see it is that in SMB2 you fight several different "Birdo", (only some are wearing bows), so not all are guys, (though it is implied that Birdo is actually a transgender boss).  I'm glad you're aware of the !@#$% up gender-issues involved with Birdo though, lol.  Even if Birdo is a "herm", that makes the comic that much better.

I'd say it's either an announcement about MM coming to the VC or else some sort of exclusive about "Moon".  My money is on MM being released on the VC.

73
I guess it's not terribly surprising considering he's always been a fan of video games... He even named his daughter "Zelda" after the game. Nonetheless, I have to say that Robin Williams annoys the crap out of me and if I were to ever seen him in person I would probably !@#$%-slap him.

Someone I know was looking for help with RPGmaker so I told him to register.  He posted 2-3 times and then left immediately afterwards.   :-[

It really is a shame, it used to be extremely active.  The last time I checked it out there were only two active users and there was nothing that even resembled chatting.  :'(

XD what? It's a paint by numbers FPS... It's got nice physics, but otherwise, its just so mediocre... but so is Halo... and Turok... and every shooter :p I'm not holding it to a higher standard or anything... Pretty much only worth playing for the story :o

That's exactly what makes the game great, (the physics are nice too).  I agree that in many ways the gameplay is typical, (I thought most of the same things while I was playing it), but you have to keep in mind that when it first came out that it created the mold that most other cookie-cutter FPS's follow today.  Yeah, some similar stuff had been done before, but the level of immersion and story make it great nonetheless.  Still, I do agree that the gameplay isn't that creative overall... make sure to play Episode One and Episode Two though, it gets much better.

You guys need to stop derailing this topic... IT'S ABOUT ECHIDNAS GOD DAMNIT.

Anyway, I guess I never really believed you to begin with.  Have you ever heard of someone's brother joining an obscure forum that he doesn't even go to anymore? Nope, neither have I.  Anyway, welcome back...?  Long time no see...?  XD

Anyways, I just have to say, if you get this game, GO ON THE INTERNET IN THE GAME.  The fake internet is !@#$% HILARIOUS.  I don't know how many people worked on it, but it is massive, there are SO many pages to visit, and SO many parodies :P  I loved the page making fun of linux-- and the fake napster site was pretty funny too :D

Maybe I just haven't done enough missions, (too busy !@#$% around, lol), but I haven't been able to find the internet cafe yet.  Is marked on your map after doing a certain mission or do you have to stumble onto it on your own?

Have any of you tried watching TV in the game yet?  "Republican Space Rangers" FTW!

(Warning - Lots of swearing.)

This is just one of the shows that you can watch within the game.  :D
