Title: Talvi (instrumental)
Post by: TomPel on December 24, 2007, 10:11:37 pm: Well, this is a song I've been working on for some time composing and putting together, and I believe I've finally gotten to the point where I can release the instrumental version.
It doesn't have vocals just yet, though I've wrote the lyrics and everything is pretty clear. It's because my mic isn't really that good and I'm waiting for the time I get a better one.
Posting the lyrics here wouldn't really help either, because they're finnish ;P.
I might add some acoustic guitar parts to the song, but I'm not sure. Anyways, I think this song captures the spirit and feeling I was looking for pretty good.

You should record your voice over it with the bad quality mic just temporarily so we can get an idea... I think it'd sound great with singing. And a guitar solo would be cool too.

If I had an electric guitar, I would surely try to add some guitar solos. But maybe I'll try and come up a solo for some other instrument, because an instrumental solo could really bring some new depth to the song. Maybe violin? That could add some celtic vibes ;P. I dunno yet, I'll just have to experiment a little.
And yeah, sure, I'll probably record the vocals this week. But I still think I need to wait for the new mic before I really finish this song.

If you add vocals, then I'd recommend lowering the volume of the violin and pizzicato strings a little bit during vocal parts. The chord strings could stay about the same, but maybe with a lower attack if that's possible with your software. That could help bring out a bit of the hip-hop vibe that the drums are giving off.
