Graphics / Zelda Vector Art
« on: June 08, 2009, 01:54:17 pm »
I am no real expert at vector art, but lately I have been rather bored and got good old Inkscape out. This is the result, so tell me what you think:

Link:

New Character from E3 2009:

I never really got around to colouring Link, but being that I am just messing around it's not really that important. yes they are also basically just tracings too, hopefully I will be able to do it purely from imagination with enough practice.

Graphics / LTTP Style OOT Zora River
« on: February 11, 2009, 10:56:40 pm »
So guess what, yea you got it, i have been even more bored today, and therefore have been creating some more images. This time its Zora River in the Link to the Past style.

I would like to start by emphasizing that is is NOT an exact replica, why you ask? Simple, if you have played OOT you know that it contains many paths and hills that all rise above each other and go below. If you have played LTTP you will also know it is not possible with the graphics, so let me explain the changes.

Firstly in the entrance I have replaced all of the crossings on the river, with bridges. Secondly there are two cliffs on the right hand side in OOT, on this there is one, why? Because jumping in LTTP is a nightmare.

Thirdly a few of the cliffs in the water have been replaced with mounds of grass, this is because in OOT you have to jump to them, again you cant do this in LTTP, so I had to improvise. The log has been replaced with a tree stump (which fits the job) and the part of the river which seems to flow like a square has been shrunk into just one lane. This is because it was an unnecessary part of the map, and to save space.

Moving on, the direction of the bridge here has been changed, ready for the waterfall ahead. Other waterfalls have been moved so that they are south facing.

The waterfall entrance itself has been moved around a little and tweaked, again this is not only because of space but because of the impossibilities with the LTTP style.

I know this isnt exact, but I hope that it can be of use to some people, enjoy:

Please comment and give criticisms.

Graphics / LTTP Style OOT Kakariko Village [update]
« on: February 10, 2009, 03:29:50 pm »
So I have been bored lately, I wanted to continue with my creating the overworld for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in the Link to the Past style. So I moved on, here is Kakariko village transformed into two dimensions, enjoy:

Any criticisms would be appreciated. i did make this mostly from memory (and a few screenshots I could find in google images), so sorry if its not entirely identical. As part of the transformation there have been a few changes, for example all of the stairs are vertical, and the well has been moved to save space.

LTTP & FSA / [SOLVED] : LTTP House Tile RIps
« on: December 10, 2008, 10:05:15 am »
Well I've been searchig for some time now and I will be damned if I can find anything here. I have found a few .gif images with a blatantly off pallet, but thats about all google coughs up for me. Does anyone here happen to have some LTTP house tile rips I might be able to have?

Thank you.

Graphics / LTTP Style OOT Hyrule FIeld
« on: December 05, 2008, 10:41:56 pm »
So im aware I havent done any major tiling jobs recently, so I thought now would be a good time to do something interesting. I bring you the LTTP style Ocarina of Time Hyrule Field in all of its two dimensional glory.

Im aware its not perfect, but I needed to keep it fitting the style, so I rearranged slightly. What do you think?

Coding / PureBasic Zelda Engine
« on: November 28, 2008, 12:01:05 am »
Well recently I have been working on coding a Zelda game for the fun of it, actually I decided to continue with the Destiny's Horn game I started creating a long time ago.

This engine includes :
Basic Startup Engine
Movement Engine
Prioritised Walking
Collisions Engine
Drawing Layers
Drawing Animations
Heart / Life Engine
Rupee Engine
Basic Menu Engine
The beginning of code for a basic objects engine

Please note this is by no means a 100% completed engine, but perhaps it will show people where to go. When it comes to the Destiny's Horn game (which some of you will remember) I actually stopped working on it after Franz stopped coding it in TGF, and then attempted it in PureBasic, at the time I was not experienced enough with it, so maybe this will help people who were in my situation progress.

There are not very many comments as I did not plan to release this, and without some basic PureBasic knowledge it may seem confusing at first, either way it's attatched to this post, or alternatively here:

Graphics / [UPDATED] Koriki forest (flipped around the right way)
« on: July 07, 2008, 10:11:43 pm »
Well folks basically I got bored recently, I know I havent been on ZFGC much, I havent even sprited much, but on a whim I decided to make this.

All sprites are 100% custom/LTTP edits (FULL credit goes to me). The houses are not .TaKaM 's before anyone asks, similar I know but they are edited from a LTTP tree and the small treestump house found in the lost woods.

Comments would be much appreciated.

Other Discussion / DESPERATE FOR HELP
« on: January 03, 2008, 08:41:56 pm »
Right, I have a major issue, and a serious one at that. I tried to install Ubuntu a few months ago, i got it all done, and found after about a month it just randomly stopped booting. So I reinstalled and started again, the same happened. About a week later my stepdads computer died also, which we never got fixed. I tried again, this time a week later it failed instead of a month. I bought an entirely new machine, and found the same issue with Ubuntu Thinking it was Ubuntu I have up on it 4 days ago and installed Windows XP. Since then XP has done exactly the same thing.. only 3 seperate times so far, this is on a computer not on the internet, and with absolutely no modifications AT ALL.

It gets wierder than that though. At work there are two main computers. The day after I install XP on my machine, one goes down, with exactly the same issue, now that wasnt what was worrying. Today at work the other goes down... this is a machine I have never used, is not connected to the internet and isnt even on a network... its primary purpose is form entry and for label printing, nothing else.

Im desperate here, I need a solution fast... it would seem that every single computer I am even near goes down with the same issue... I dont know where to go with it, I completely format my harddrives every time (and not quick format) so thiers nothing left that could be doing it, im getting the impression im doing something, but on multiple operating systems on computers ive never used and it seems to be spreading into my work now.

Can anybody help or shed light or a theory about how this could happen?

Graphics / ZFGC Community photobucket upload
« on: May 25, 2007, 07:37:19 am »
Ive noticed many people saying that all our artwork etc needs to be all together etc, and that we need to store it all in once place, however most options recently have been impractical and the site is taking a long while to get going, so I have set up a photobucket account which is for the whole community to use and to help keep all of it together.

I know that eventually it will run out of space, but its worth it for now.

The following link leads to the account:
http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x105/zfgcentral/

Username: zfgcentral
Password: therealm

I have chosen "therealm" as the password as it seems only fair since he is the founder of the origional zfgc after all and he brought us all together in the first place, regardless of whether his game is genuine or not.

Rules:
Well obviously there will be rules, this kind of thing isnt going to be made without rules...

1. You must put all work in the correct catagories. If you cant choose one, pick other, or if its something that will be common, make a new catagory. The current catagories consist of:
    3D
    Lttp style
    Gb style
    MC Style
    ZFGC Style
    FSA Style
    Artwork
    Funny
    Other

2. The username and password is not to be changed under any circumstances, this is a project for the community, and I do not wish for the community to ruin it.

3. This is for zelda related or zfgc related content only, and nothnig else, i do not want to see floods of porn or girls or other artwork please, sprites, tilesets, artwork and other gaming imagery only please.

4. Have fun :)

Hopefully this will bring all our work together, and make it easier to find in the future, enjoy.

Other Discussion / Windows XP Driver Help
« on: May 03, 2007, 11:13:57 pm »
I have just tried to install my Zonet ZEW1600 wireless lan drivers on my fresh install of Windows XP Proffessional, my only problem is it fails to work, with any driver I can find anywhere on the internet, can anyone help me here? Ive spent all night looking and im growing quite tired, and without these drivers I have no internet.

Im not sure if its something wrong with my pc or not, since most drivers online dont work, but the official ones are down (dead link), so im not sure...

Though I do doubt this very much as they have worked on vista for almost 2 months now.

Feedback / Missing feature in new theme?
« on: March 12, 2007, 08:43:55 am »
Above each topic, and on the main boars there was a "Users viewing this topic" or "Users viewing this board" list before, after the recent changes im failing to locate this, does it need to be activated or is it gone? I do miss it very much.

I thought i would brag because im running real windows vista on my psp right now, with a wireless keyboard and mouse, and im scrolling along around my resoltion. Im running real live messenger, real notepad, real purebasic, real photoshop, real firefox, and all pretty much instantly. How? Its pretty simple.

I just obtained a logitech MX5000 keyboard which is wireless and comes with a wireless mouse. So i installed them on my pc, they seemed pretty cool, then I came accross Portable VNC for my psp, I ahd seen it before, but never found the use, now i find myself sitting in my bedroom on my psp and using it as a laptop by connecting it to a vnc server on my pc and basically streaming my desktop accross, which means live msn, programming, firefox, notepad, paint etc, all on my psp! I even got age of empires to run looking remotely good.

EDIT: To clarify, no this is not full vista running on my psp, my vista desktop is displayed on my psp via vnc, so i ahve mouse and keyboard.
