I've Done what I feel Hyrule Town should look like.
-
I like how the rich area is completely surrounded by the poor area. This setup also makes the slums difficult to see from the rich side should we choose to make it in a moat, which is perfect. Does this design incorporate that?
-
Where the slums are was a moat they extended by making it larger, due to the influx of people after the war w/ gannon.
-
I don't really like the the castle part in the town. I think it should be separate, especially because it als contains the last dungeon.
This also means that the poor, rich, castle garden and castle are put in the same map. Because maps have to be rectangular.

Ehh, there are ways around that.

I don't see MUCH of a problem here, Twilight Princess did the same thing really.

This looks pretty good. As I said in the overworld thread, I also like Donotfeedthemax's idea of saving the moat for the absolutely poorest citizens.
If there's one change I would make, it's for the rich area to completely surround Hyrule castle. I don't think the royal family would be too pleased having slums right alongside the wall to their gardens.
-
The wall around the slums is higher and thicker than the wall surrounding the rich area.

I would map a little more irregular. I put the classes into levels.
example:
Level 1 - ground floor - poor people;
2nd level - rich people.
So poor people could, for example walking on the roofs of their houses to take shortcuts to the rich part.
Another thing that would be cool to differentiate the buildings would be:
Level 1 - ground floor - wooden houses, or tents (bonded);
2nd level - stone houses, some of them even adorned with details in gold, silver and precious stones.
Another difference between one level and another would be the landscaping. For example:
Level 1 - ground floor - cut trees, shrubs, earthen floor, no benches to sit.
2nd level - trees lining the sidewalk, many flowers of different colors and benches with people sitting talking.
I would also put the market for fruits, vegetables, fish and meat in the poor part of town. In the rich would most noble services as a watchmaker, glazier, tailor, etc..

I'll post an updated one tomarrow, keeping this in mind. Thanks for bringing that up.

If you want, I can help spriting it...
-
If you want you can help, this is a community project after all.
-
Can we come to back to this? I'd like to see it finalized :)
-
I'd love to see some sprites of the game here to see the progress in the graphical part of the game.
-
The art division has been pretty dead for the last year, due to lack of artists :\ I'd love to see some people jump on board here
