I'm running a windows 98 btw. It's not showing up as an extra drive in the my computer folder.

It also says that it's detected in the bios.

I'm positive that everything is hooked up correctly.

I'm using an american megatrends motherboard.

halp.

Well I forgot everything I know about Win98, but if it has the computer managment thing like XP has then...

Right click My Computer -> Manage -> Disk Management.

If it's under there but not formatted, then format it.

LOL AT MY LACK OF WINDOWS 98 KNOWLEDGE. (I used to be a master with it.)

Did you make any partitions on this new drive?

my friend did a quick format on it, and that's where the problem is. I don't know what to do to a complete format for this computer.

Run fdisk from the command prompt and create a/some partitions on your second hard drive then they should appear under my computer, then you can format them into a fat32 file system.

It's pretty hard to screw up and delete your main partition with it. You actually have to select the delete option and then select the drive etc... So as long as you don't select the delete option you should be fine.

I figured it out, it works now. 98 is a pain in the rear sometimes.
