Title: Nominations - February 2010
Post by: 4Sword on February 24, 2010, 11:45:35 pm
It is pretty much just like last month; if you nominate a project you have to at least 3 sentences saying why, and if you vote for a project you then just need 1 sentence.

May seem like a dumb question but what has been updated enough to be a PotM?

Surface once more please
Because it has screens and vids
Also HAIKU again!

How about my game
Relics of Nature's Fury
It is really cool

(I CAN HAIKU TOO!)

Relics of Nature's Fury cannot be nominated as it hasn't had any progress this month and it cannot be nominated by its creator. Additionally, Surface can't be nominated by it's creator; if someone else nominates it and it has the most votes though, it can still win though - there isn't really a restriction on consecutive victories.

Anyway, I nominate The Legend of Zelda: Horn of Balance by Martijn dh, FrozenFire, and NotAlphaman. It has had good and frequent updates over the month of February, it has had a team effort, and through such the quality of the project has improved. Horn of Balance was something nominated last time that had a lot of merit and in my opinion deserves and has earned the award.

4Sword, I'm working on RoNF again; I know I can't nominate my own project. I was mainly messing with Mammy.

Updates for RoNF hopefully in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out. Also, if Surface is nominated again (by someone other than Mammy, naturally) I'll vote for it.

Horn of Balance. It always has new updates. Has solid game play and the overall quality is exceptional.

I nominate Surface. Compared to the several other "projects" floating around, it has been under constant development, and Travis has put real effort into developing it. Even if he is only using Blitz, like the giant monkey-loving homosexual we all know him to be. Beyond Sword of Divination, I don't see many other projects that have any actual sense of direction or competent management. Haiku can blow me, but I vote for Travis anyway.

Sword of Divination would have been my nomination, if MG-Z would have updated. :(

It's tough, but I'm voting for Surface. Pretty much for it's originality and awesome music, and look. Horn of Balance is doin pretty sweet too though.

Err, I vote for Horn of Balance because I wanna see a another zelda Potm, and besides that, Mammy already had this month, so I think it's fair to pass it to martin.

Hmm.  I do believe I am going to have to place my vote on horn of balance.  It has high quality features and looks very nice.  I want to see more of it.  I also want to see more of surface.  Both are good games, but HOB deserves the potm this time.  sorry Mamoruanime  XD keep up the good work!

I honestly can't decide; both are amazing projects, seriously.
Actually, I am working with Martijn on the Horn of Balance so I'm just going to sit this one out anyway to avoid voting under the influence of favoritism. ;p

You could vote Surface, that wouldn't be showing influence of favoritism. :D

I vote Horn of Balance, because it is a great a game that tries to recreate the LttP feel instead of the more recent and more favorable MC, FSA or any 3D style. Additionally, Surface was Project of the Moth last time and I think it is time to pass on the torch.

I vote for Horn of Balance, because it already looks more like a (fantastic) game than an engine, because it gets updated very often, and because it's a team project.

Horn of Balance, since Surface won last month in all its gorgeous glory. That's not to say that Horn of Balance doesn't look great though, and I'm very interested to see its continued progress.

Surface. I already know everything about my own game and progress sure hasn't suffered from it getting the project of the month. XD And I won't vote for my own game anyway. It's more rewarding seeing other people do that. Thanks.

I voted Surface because I said I would, and I don't like breaking my word.

Surface looks like fun
I cannot wait to play it
It might win again

Why do we haiku
I don't understand at all
In truth, I don't care

Sorry Travis, but my vote has to change to Horn of Balance. :(

I choose Horn of Balance, because it's got decent progress, is a Zelda fan game (which is the point of this forum), and because Mirby voted for Surface.

I like how you put that last as if that influenced you to change your vote the least.

XD...

So bad :P

Although; I'm really not bothered at all :P I'm to the point right now where I can't provide regular development screenshots :P Not so much can't I suppose but more like "don't wanna". I might have some here and there of new enemies along with some youtube vids of me goofing off, or even playing the first area or something, but I don't want to spoil the game by posting a new feature every time I add it D:

Actually, it was. I was an advocate of doing this sort of "user nomination" (though I still have issues with requiring a reason), and I feel it would be hypocritical of me to vote for a project that's already PotM. I personally believe that if a project has been a PotM within the past two months, it shouldn't be eligible for nomination, just to keep things fresh.

I just threw that in because I knew he would get pissed at me. :P

Voting Surface even though Horn of Balance is farther along. I just have a feeling Surface might actually get finished, and even though HoB is getting great progress, I have little faith in Zelda fangames and their status of completion. No offense to anyone, but my reason for this is most of you. :P

Non-fangames kick ass.

Really fooz; I don't mind :P

Horn of Balance is great, and it definitely needs some recognition.

Besides, like I said earlier; I probably won't be posting too many updates, and may go with a dev blog as an outlet for a bit, and keep the Surface thread open as a means to discuss it on here.

I think he moved on with this thing called "life." It's this amazing thing that makes you feel happy while away from the internet, with other human beings sometimes referred to as "people," though I can't guarantee Wikipedia's accuracy.

<.<

Seriously, though, he just stopped giving a damn about what the bunch of whining kids that make up most of ZFGC think about him and his project, and moved on to other things. :P

I know he's running a WoW private server somewhere, but I don't really care enough to pay attention.

Alright, voting is now done since it's a new month; the totals are:

Horn of Balance - 11 ( 16 )
Surface - 5 ( 8 )

Aero88 didn't submit a vote but stated he voted for something and gave a reason, thus his vote was counted. But yeah, Horn of Balance wins.

I was a little confused when I first read your nomination of it; the post after also in my confusion led me to believe that it was a TRM joke. I'll add it to the poll though and make mention of its nomination in the PotM topic once that is posted.

Next month we're nominating FF72D, DJ. GET WORKING!

nah just kidding. Seriously though, next month should have some good projects being worked on such as Relics of Nature's Fury [/shameless-self-plug] or even The Legendary Swords.
Title: Re: Nominations - February 2010

If Flying Rooster gets enough progress I'm sure it'll get it next month :P

Although, I really think the structure of this needs to change for new nominations, especially considering OoT2d's nomination was pretty much discarded before the voting even ended.

It doesn't make sense to hold voting while accepting nominations. The only real way to offset this is by voting in PotM's mid month to guarantee that the project being nominated has had decent progress, and start nominating the first week of a month, then vote the second.
